HARD PASS. Guy disappears for long stretches while commanding big dollars. He is always hurt. Our future WR2 and probable heir to Diggs as WR1 is coming via the draft. It would be stupid to tie up cap space on someone like Mike Williams that we don't have to spare before heading into one of the deepest and riches WR drafts in the modern era.

Greg Rousseau 5th year option, extension candidate?
Alphadawg7 replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Again, that logic doesn't hold water. That is like saying because Floyd had more sacks with less snaps then Greg should play less snaps to get more sacks. Sacks are going to vary year to year regardless of exact same snaps, less snaps, more snaps. The only statement that is 100% factual and true is when you play more snaps you get more opportunities. So its 100% factual to say the odds he would increase his stat totals are HIGHER with more snaps. But Sacks are a TERRIBLE barometer for this discussion anyway. Its a single play. You are talking about a single play happening a couple more times over a 17 game span or not happening a couple times less. I mean that can be the difference of less than 1 second total of time on whether he got 2 more sacks or gets 2 less sacks as some of these plays come within a fraction of a second of being a sack or not being a sack. This isn't like a WR say having 400 more yards or not if he was a starter vs role player. -
Renfrow as depth would be fine, but he isn't signing somewhere to be depth only, he is going to want to at least have a chance to compete to start, if not come in as the slot starter. I would bet good money he signs with the Chiefs if released because he fits their short pass attack very well and its a spot they need a lot of help on.

Greg Rousseau 5th year option, extension candidate?
Alphadawg7 replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Floyd is not a fair comparison at all though. Floyd is a pass rush specialist, where Greg is asked to do a lot more like set the edge. They don't have the same roles. With someone like Floyd its not abnormal to have more sacks one year than the next even on fewer snaps. I mean you are talking about a single play happening once or twice more in an entire 17 game season. So this doesn't prove that more playing time wouldn't increase his stats, which it clearly would. More snaps on the field equals more opportunities to make more plays. -
I don't have Leggette in the top 10 (he is 11th on my board), I would target him in the 3rd, maybe late 2nd. He has all the same flaws as Gabe Davis. Lacks acceleration and burst as he is a strider and doesn't get up to his top speed unless running in a straight line. Struggles off the LOS and getting separation in the shorter and mid areas of the field. He is going to be a project, I would rather take him in the 3rd if we take him. Harrison Nabers Odunze Thomas McConkey Mitchell Coleman Franklin Worthy Pearsall Leggette

And we have 11 picks to move around it need be. But 28 isn’t crappy when the draft is this deep.

We were never going to spend on WR in free agency outside this type of signing. Anyone thinking otherwise was just getting their hopes up. This is richest and deepest draft at WR in a long time, maybe ever and we have a tight cap with more than half our roster turning over. That being said, this is a solid signing considering what our budget is for FA.

Who's your breakout players for next season?
Alphadawg7 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Offense - Kincaid and Shakir. They had mini breakouts this year, but I think they come out and show people they are key parts to this offense this season and turn even more heads. Defense - Elam. Gonna get a lot of push back here from his haters, but I think he wins the starting job opposite Douglas this season and shows his potential and puts up 6+ Ints -
But there are guys just as fast or faster (all faster than Davis) who are more complete WRs that will be available when we pick. All I’m saying is I’m not taking Leggette before them. If we got Leggette in 2nd or 3rd, sure I’m ok with it. I don’t have him in my top 10 WRs, and there won’t be 10 gone before we pick at 28. I would absolutely take Thomas, Mitchell, McConkey, Coleman, and Franklin before him. Probably Pearsall too who I think may be the most underrated of all the guys. My top 10 board is: Elite WR1 Prospects 1 Harrison - Clear top WR 2 and 3 - Nabers and Odunze (Whoch ever order someone puts them in) 4 Thomas - Clear #4 for me, and not far behind Nabers/Odunze. He’s a true WR1 prospect. Potential 1st Rounders to early 2nd rounders but still with WR1 traits and potential 5 McConkey 6 Mitchell 7 Coleman 2nd rounders to early 3rd rounders as strong WR2 prospects still with WR1 some potential, but have some more question marks than the tier above them. 8 Franklin 9 Worthy 10 Pearsall 11 Leggette NOTE: I’m pretty sure someone is going to over draft Worthy in the first round, maybe even as the 3rd, 4th, or 5th WR off the board. A team like Dallas makes sense where he gets turf and isn’t the WR1. I’m really hoping he pushes Thomas down the board.

I don’t get the Leggette interest. He’s a Gabe Davis clone in terms of weaknesses just faster. He lacks explosion off the line and is a strider, struggles at separation in the short areas of the field and has poor acceleration and burst. Sure, if he’s there in the 2nd or 3rd, but not at 28. I also don’t get the interest in Worthy who is a stick figure and all his speed will be neutralized in the bad weather where he offers little at that point as he doesn’t have size or strength to be physical. Plus his frame is gonna be questionable to be able to hold up to an NFL schedule punishment. I think our targets are more likely to be Thomas, Mitchell, McConkey, Coleman at 28…or any of them and maybe Franklin or Pearsall if they trade back.

What if Allen and Mahomes swapped exact situations?
Alphadawg7 replied to first_and_ten's topic in The Stadium Wall
Honestly, I completely agree. Josh career would like a lot like Mahomes does in terms of MVPs and SB Trophies and Mahomes would likely mirror Josh's and be empty as well. I really believe Mahomes and Allen are neck and neck talent wise and the situations have dictated the better overall TEAM results Mahomes has experienced in KC vs Josh in Buffalo. -
We can’t be done in FA though whether it’s now or later as we still have too many holes to fill that we aren’t filling with 11 draft picks, which is probably less than 11 as I expect Beane to makes some moves around the draft. So something has to be off on the latest numbers in the thread or something more coming because we don’t seem to have enough cap room to get through both FA and the draft right now, even with Tre’s $10M coming after June 1st. Or maybe I’m missing something. I’m just trying to figure out where the extra cap space is coming from since they seemed to have left some cap space on the table with Allens restructure.

lol I told y’all he was gonna get $12-$14M per and never coming here.

Honestly think this is an upgrade for Cincy.

If we took Bowers then traded Knox to move back up in the 2nd and get someone like McConkey, Coleman, Pearsall, Polk, Franklin, etc...then I would lose my sh*t in excitement. First of all, if we miss out on either Thomas or Mitchell in the first, I would rather trade back and pick up an extra 3rd or something instead of reaching at 28, and grab one of those other WR's with the pick we traded back to. But if we could get Bowers and move Knox and still get one of those WR's then Beane is a god. Again, I think there is 0% of any of that happening...but lets say we did take Bowers, would you trade Kincaid who would fetch far better trade value than Knox?

Now that we see the deals...I will take AJE at that price over Floyd at his age, price, and after a late season fall off. I wanted Floyd back too, but not at that price after he fell off and at his age. So loving the AJE deal

Eagles sign Saquon Barkley - $46.7M with $26M Guaranteed
Alphadawg7 replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here is what I don't understand for Philly...they didn't start struggling because the RB position was the issue. Personally, the best RB on that roster was inactive every week in Penny. I would have avoided paying Saquan all that money, kept Penny an let him start and drafted a RB to compete with Penny on the cheap. Behind that OL Penny would eat big time, but he does have durability concerns, so that is why you draft one as well. They had way bigger issues than RB. That is a lot of money on a position they didn't need to spend that much money on. Or go sign someone like Devin or Moss to run behind that line at less than half what they paid Saquan and still draft a rookie if you want. All I know is that Saquan doesn't make them much better than last year even though he is a great back. -
Eagles sign Saquon Barkley - $46.7M with $26M Guaranteed
Alphadawg7 replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we are seeing a bit of market correction where RB's got a bit undervalued, plus we are seeing some of the upper tier RB's come available where they can be a difference maker on certain teams like a Philly, Titans, or Niners who lean heavy on the run. Its going to be one of those things that fluctuate depending on the teams looking for a RB and the ones available. -
Yeah, I do not at all expect us to pay WR2 money...they are going to draft a WR2 who has the potential to emerge as a WR1 to take over for Diggs in a year or two. I also think they take a 2nd WR to develop as well as a potential future WR2 (like they did when they took Davis) on day 3.

Love this, especially at that price. Its a win-win for both sides...2 year deal, so if AJE continues to ascend, especially with his role increasing again this year, he has a chance to cash in after 2 years. And its a team friendly deal for the next 2 years for the Bills giving us a quality DE at a good price. I would MUCH rather have AJE on this deal than Floyd on the deal he signed with Niners.
