  1. Spiller has had normal ups and downs as a rookie runner--- the more repetitions he gets with the ball the more he'll learn to trust his instincts. If he were given 20 carries per game or so he'd probably be accruing statistics at an acceptable rate, for fans. But he was brutal at picking up the blitz early on and in that regard he has improved steadily. Yesterday was a perfect example of what Gailey is doing in developing Spiller--- he's kept in the backfield on passing downs and allowed to learn through repetitions how to read blitzing 'backers and DBs, and stunting D-Linemen. Why burn him out with a winless team when Fred Jackson is averaging 4.5 yds/att? If they needed him to be the guy, he could be the guy. But there's no reason to burn him out. Jahvid has had one terrific game, but he's basically just getting more overall touches at this point, not to mention he's only averaging 3.2 yds/att. Should Detroit fans call him Jahvid Bust?
  2. I don't know what the !@#$ game you were watching, but apparently you were the only one watching it. Seriously, stop trying so hard to be a miserable jerk. You're going out of your way to complain---- there's plenty to be upset about in this game and with this Bills team, but Cordero Howard yesterday sure as hell wassn't one of them.
  3. A playoff game where the Colts visited Baltimore is anything but typical gameday circumstances, no?. It's almost the most potentially raucous matchup I can propose for an NFL game. A lot different than a regular season game against a winless opponent, anyway.
  4. Corey Chavous was great on NFL Network before the 2010 draft. I was really impressed with him.
  5. He's also the first to throw 3 TD passes or more in back to back games since Kelly in 1990---- stats are just stats, but it's interesting nonetheless.
  6. This is exactly what I'm afraid of--- that Ralph has already made THE MANDATE, and they take a QB with the first pick just to take one, rather than the best QB.
  7. NFL Draft Bible purports to be run by former NFL scouts, I think. They have pretty in-depth player profiles, though.
  8. I like Cameron "Ironhead Jr." Heyward, the most so far anyway. He looks like a beast, but I'm certainly no expert. I also like Robert Quinn out of North Carolina, but he's been permanently suspended from the NCAA so he'll be out for the year. There's speculation that he may drop to the 2nd round. I couldn't argue with those two.
  9. I think the only other possibility in '85 was Doug Flutie, as far as a no. 1 overall. But I was a kid too, and more interested in Rowdy Roddy Piper, myself. For what it's worth, here's what one draft site has to say about Clayborn from this past weekend against Gabe Carimi. They don't seem to think he'd be much of a pass rusher at the NFL level. http://nflmocks.com/2010/10/24/gabe-carimi-vs-adrian-clayborn/
  10. Isn't that the old Baltimore Colts song? I though the BC Marching Band played when the Ravens score.
  11. Whether or not Bills fans are knowledgeable about football is not necessarily reflected in the internet message board posting community, where idiocy is typically rampant. Case in point: DarthICE
  12. Fitz is the first Bills QB to have 3 TD passes in back to back games since Kelly did it in 1990--- big surprise (initially at least) that it's been that long.
  13. Yeah, and according to numerous reporters covering Bills training and mini camps (Paul Hamilton, Mark Gaughan, Tim Graham, a few others) Fitz looked pretty bad in the spring and over the summer. Some guys are practice heroes and some are gamers.
  14. Only because the Bills are giving up 30 points/game... more opportunities. I'm in favor of the Spiller pick, but still.
  15. I'll put it this way: the only reason anyone noticed Howard on the field was because Cornell Green wasn't getting blown up or taking numerous penalties. (In other words, he was very good)
  16. Was the defense that different last year? Couldn't rush the passer consistently, stop the run or cover tight ends. The only difference so far has been takeaways. Plus, Fewell's personnel in NY is obviously superior to Buffalo.
  17. Fitz was great... I think one thing we definitely know about him is that a loss like this won't break his spirit. A lot of guys in that Bills lockerroom are going to feel broke, but if he's worth his salt he can lead them past it. If that makes any sense.
  18. And... done! Just kidding, we'll see.
  19. I was down on Fitz's accuracy, in terms of handing him the reins permanently (despite loving his toughness and guts)... he's made a believer out of me here today. At least for now--- I reserve the right to schizophrenically change my opinion when he next throws a terrible pass!
  20. Peace wasn't there, but he did swear by Cowturd---- it was dayman. He had a few reasonable points on the subject when he finally got around to it, and I'm not going to rag on him. But he was, you know... completely wrong.
  21. Boy, pretty objective, huh? The NFL bubble does seem like it's about to burst, though.
  22. That's what I told the dude in the shout box, but he wasn't having it. Whether it's the Giants or the Phils, it should be a good Series.
  23. Waitaminute... I thought I heard here in the shoutbox the other day that MLB is a "regional league" and will disappear within a few years... but the NBA is growing exponentially at startling rates? Oh well.
  24. I wish the 'Spos had come to Buffalo rather than DC. Then again, I wish the Miami franchise had been awarded to B-lo as it should have been back in '92 or whatever. Bunch of bull ****. Braves in '76, all the way.
  25. I'm so disappointed in the Sabres management this past offseason: bull **** tearful postseason press conference gushing about how badly they want a championship for the City of Buffalo and how dedicated they are to making the right changes to ensure it... and then absolutely nothing. Bunch of jerkoffs. To watch that same soft team cuddle and wilt game after game makes me sick. Wouldn't it be a kick in the teeth if the Bills only "home" win in 2010 was at Toronto?
