Anyone voting for Roethlisberger loses a bit of respect in my book. I'm typically not for hypotheticals like this, however, I do get a little enraged when people don't see the obvious flaws in Roethlisber's decision making skills. He has been making improvements, and has some nice throws, but the team is in the championship because of their defense. If Big Ben was a Bill, you people would have thrown him out of town after his first 30 sacks anyway, so I don't really see the argument.

Clean hit. I don't like McGahee so I'm not going to pretend like I give a damn. It was the most entertaining part of the game, by far. Well that, and them showing the Polomalu replay about 11 times in a row and pretending like they weren't giving him any special treatment or anything.

An 8 minute turn around.

Does JP Losman remind you of Dave from Flight of the Concords

No but thanks for the link. Did they end up signing on for a new season of that show? -
**Special Message to SKOOBY only: read the last word of this post** In all of my time browsing the internet (and trust me, when you have multiple 3 hour long lectures per semester it adds up), I have never, I emphasize NEVER, encountered a person (troll or not) who was so disliked by a community, yet maintained a constant member like you have SKOOBY. Amidst the lies of wealth, your unbelievably haunting first avatar, as well as your almost fairy tale like ability to pretend as though all of your incorrect predictions are some sort of practical joke, you stay on the board, creating mindless threads expecting (so it seems) not to get bashed repeatedly. If your previous predictions have told us anything (which, thankfully they haven't...save that you're a complete moron), the Bills will fortunately not go 4-0. Again, I don't know how you can pretend to know the schedule so prematurely, but most likely your BMW dealer knows a guy who knows a guy, who's former college roommate shared a plane with Roger Goodell, in which he overheard that league is going through overhaul in it's scheduling process, allowing the Bills to open the season up against Arizona on the road four consecutive times. Honestly SKOOBY...please skip all of that and read this: Leave.

Good arguments all around. Unfortunately, each of our opinions have been biased generally by whether or not we believe Peters to be valuable enough to top pay. What seems to be the least fortunate, is that the Buffalo Bills, desperate to hold on to something considered great, could perhaps overpay yet another lineman in Peters. However, Brandon's play of basically ignoring Peters and his agent, while they did the same to him, seems to me that he is definitely not going to renegotiate this contract until (at the very least) it's in its final year. Some questions for thought: Will a new center this season alleviate any excuses critics have towards Peters? Are injuries enough of an issue for Peters to force the team to stay away from renegotiation? Will a full training camp show us Peters' true value? Are there enough teams desperate for LT to generate a high market for Peters? Primarily, I believe the last two questions to be related, in that a Yes and No answer to each respectively would mean that he will remain with the team, no doubt about it. Most likely it all rides on the last question, and I wouldn't be surprised if Peters is not put on the table, but offers come through regardless. In the end we must realize that while most teams are excited about a two time pro-bowler at LT, only a select few are willing to deal with a guy who held out of the season initially for contractual complaints, and was held out at the end of the season due to injury.
-
Bingo. What BuffaloBill continually is failing to knowledge, is the possibility of the new high picks have a great upside, that may be greater than our need for a "pro-bowl" LT. I used the Gandy example, but unfortunately it didn't go over too well, but the point was that a serviceable LT with other line upgrades will improve the line without Peters, and perhaps fill some other needs as well. Unfortunately it's difficult for some people to wish to lose Peters, because they've been told by the Associated Press that he's our best player.
-
What? Dude. If you can get a 1st and a 3rd, which is not unrealistic at all...and you don't take it, then you're stupid.
-
Trade him for a 1st and a 2nd, or at worst, 1st and a 3rd. There you will be able to fill up two of the other needs, while picking up a random veteran LT of average talent. My logic behind that is that you have Peters on a pedestal. I thought he was a specimen when he was blocking punts and everything, but even more than his attitude, his play has shown us that he's not committed enough to the game to be an elite LT. The only difference in you understanding my reasoning is that you can't get past the fact that Peters might not be as great as you think he is.
-
When your team has many needs to address, you actually do. It's one thing if our line was beyond spectacular, and replacing Peters means we risk losing a very in-rhythm and effective line. It's a completely different story when they play like a box of chocolates all year long and you have obvious needs elsewhere.
-
What an irrelevant argument to a completely hypothetical situation. If the Bills were intelligent enough to cash in on Peters' value, then we're assuming they'd be competent enough to replace him correctly. The Bills have had a very average amount of busts, and a large number of diamonds in the rough. Mcgee was a 4th rounder. Peters, Greer, and Jackson were all undrafted FAs. You're overlooking a lot of good scouting because of our big bust that has plagues us years later: Mike Willliams.

I was willing to throw the kitchen sink at Jason Peters this offseason. I knew it would be costly (being an alleged two year pro-bowler and all), but as a fan, I was willing to cope with a high salary for what I thought to be such a high value position. After watching this year's playoffs I've begun to sing a different tune. Arizona is in the NFC Champ game. They got to where they are mostly through their offense, and have recently been riding off of decent defensive performances against Atlanta, and being lucky enough to play against Delhomme in his worst career outing. Beyond that, I realized that their effective offense had a familiar starting left tackle. The world famous, Mike Gandy. You see, I always hear about how an offense relies so heavily on their line, but having first hand knowledge of the lack of talent that Gandy brings to the table...I'm starting to see things differently. Apparently you can have an effective offense with a horrid starting left tackle. So I need some help. Has Gandy had some miraculous turn around? Or am I right to think that the league's current perspective of Peters is too high for us to ignore? Will someone please explain to me how you don't put Peters on the table, see what offers float around, before having to commit to what could be a costly and unnecessary contract? And yes, I'm using my Mike Gandy revelation entirely to base my questioning.

Really? I'm pretty sure a season without Tom Brady gives you a greater chance than a season without McDaniels... and we all know how great that advantage turned out.

Reports: Maybin to declare for draft
murra replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. You do actually. His size would hardly show any improvements to our defense at all. -
Why attack SKOOBY with logic? It's a language he can't read.
-
I didn't catch it, what did he say? I'm usually a big advocate for wanting players to just shut up, but that game was one of the worst officiated I had seen since probably the Denver game earlier this year (coincidentally versus the Chargers as well...).

What did the Bills accomplish this season??

Make The Better Side Of The Ball

Because it never worked. The fact that we got no pressure, yet we still played off and consistently got burned meant, to me at least, that this DC is among the most predictable in the league. He came out with a fancy D in the seahawks game, and then it was all downhill from there. These bums on our staff continue to out-think themselves year-in-and-year-out. -

It's a good idea that certainly is not unique. I do believe, however that for our team, the "You can't win if you can't score" adage rang true enough times this year that there is no way you can ignore our offensive woes in the offseason. -

I've never seen a team so ineffectively run a tampa 2. I'm beginning to think that more talent will not help, considering our idiot of a DC prefers our corners to play off 15 yards on 3rd and 10. -
I'm starting to enjoy how no matter how we boil down the future FA Signings and the Draft, our incompetent coaching staff will ultimately make the 2009 campaign impossible to upgrade.
-
Are you kidding? You think receiver is an issue? Dude, we could have had the top four receivers in the league on our team, and the way our offense was run, the season result would remain 7-9. It's all about the playcalls being shoddy, and the coaches preaching to Trent to dump it off that have lead to a very unproductive passing offense. It takes about two games seen live to really figure that out. Our players are running predictable plays that either take too long, or don't allow trent to see how wide open they are. Crabtree, with this coaching staff, would be about as big of a wasted pick that I can imagine.

This is personally my favorite 2008 Buffalo Bills story.

You remind me of my Jonas Brothers obsessed teenage sister. Except she isn't living in a fantasy world. She knows she's not going to meet the Jonas Brothers, and therefore doesn't pretend to know people who do.
