RD 2, Pick 63: Dion Dawkins (OT) - TEM
Andre Speed replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From nfl.com: (looks a lot like what they said about Cordy) BOTTOM LINE Quality tackle who operates with good balance and solid technique. Shows some good initial quickness and a smooth kick-slide out of his stance, but might be better in short areas as a guard rather than in open space as a tackle. He's athletic enough to operate in space, but power appears to be his calling card. His wide-hand approach in pass protection could be a difficult habit to break, but he has the natural power to withstand bull rush that might come with that. Dawkins is a well-schooled, three-year starter who has chance to transition into an early starter. He's got 35" arms, and apparently can move. In the cone drill, he was second among OL, a hundredth of a second behind G.Bolles. "but power seems to be his calling card" ? I put him at RT and say "show us you belong there". 5.11 40 26 BP Reps 26” Vertical 106” LJ 7.30 Cone Drill 4.78 Shuttle ~Stevie -

Washington Redskins: Joe Jacoby AND Jim Lachey -> Unstoppable. "But that was like, way in the paaasst!" 2013 KC Chiefs: suddenly rise from basement to contender with: Branden Albert AND Eric Fisher. Don't dis' da double LT 'til ya tried it ! ~AS -

The first pass he ever caught in the NFL, summer of '85. Here he is, some rookie from a school no one ever heard of, you'd expect him to be clueless, right? I don't even know who the QB could have been, but the A-man was ready to take charge immediately. He was wide open, and appeared rather impatient waiting for the ball to arrive. He actually came back for the ball, even though it wasn't necessary, pulled it in aggressively, and took off in that 46 jersey('85 only). What else could I think? "Now THAT's a player." Of course, the ~19 TDs that I.. I mean he scored in that Oilers playoff game were OK too ) ~AS

I'm confused about who drafted this rookie class, help.
Andre Speed replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The comment had like ZERO to do with "how front offices work" when selecting players. It MEANT(i shouldnt have to xplain this really) that the move could be JUSTIFIED in the future by the marketing people(see Brandon, Russ) no matter what happens. Make the move, give it your best shot, worry about selling it later. I am all for that approach. It's a crapshoot, and they know it. But the fan will be respected with an explanation at least. This is how free enterprise in general can work: either they put out what they think is good for them, and @*(# you, or they give it their best try, and appreciate the fact that you have an interest. Seems like the Bills currently respect the latter, and I feel that's the best they could really do. (now i'll have a few "whaaat?? responses, but that's just how it goes!) peace, out. ~AS -
NS you said it. We can all ramble on about "how it SHOULD be", but then it is, as it IS.. and we have to deal with it as such.I am seeking to become a medical practitioner. After that happens, maybe I can be more of a voice about the well-being of these guys. until then, I appreciate everyone's concern and positive sentiments. It means so much more than "ooh my team is..."<--whatever. ~AS

yo B'lo.... those words were what our fellowship thrives upon. you present sanity and perspective to all of us fans, and tons of hope for our future. Maybe our lives don't depend on the Bills' record in 2013, but we all depend on each other for assurance, and guys like EJ certainly help us find our own paths. I thank you for for your insight. That can really help those who could fall into the traps life can set for us. ~AS

You have to wonder about Sirius NFL radio
Andre Speed replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ummm.. Maybe we arnt meant to take them so siriusly ?? it kyna sux when FB hasn't gotten started yet. but Promo always ROX. Tinfoil-covered cardboard means nothing. PAY NO ATTENTION to the QB behind the curtain! ok, i'm scared too. but i have a secret vision: the bills will face tons of adversity, early on... earn a decent draft pick, win their last few games, and rumble on into history! a fellas gotta dream, right ?? ~AS -
Da'rick Rogers cleared waivers
Andre Speed replied to Floridabillsfan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your words are wise, large feline ! But there are still a couple of variables left relatively untouched: intellect, and emotional state. I believe Mr.Rogers may have overcome his substance addictions, but has other hurdles to surpass. In short, I don't think he's a "quick study", and some of that may be due a natural reaction to his "make it or break it" situation. I feel the kid is under a ton of pressure, feels it, and is not yet able to overcome all that. To me, he looks a lot like Eric Moulds, physically and mentally. Moulds did nothing for 2 years because of it. I'd pay this cat the NFLs equivalent of minimum wage to see if he follows the same path. There's a perfect one-"word" solution bro.... BUTKUS. 'nuf sed? ~AS -
This: Byrd's good, but not THAT good. He's a one-year wonder ballhawk who can tackle. That's great stuff, but the man can't do everything. I'd rather have Aaron Williams in 'man' coverage all day long. The other thing is: Clady's major role is to protect Peyton Manning. Byrd's is... exactly what ? ~AS

And that's not even a cushion. It's like, this year which = NOW. I think that one poster wants to go back in time, in which case I'd recommend 1990: "Scott... kick it to the LEFT!" ~AS

Live NFL Draft 2013 draft thread
Andre Speed replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kiko was MVP of the rose bowl last year, with 1½ sacks, and a pick on everyone's darling, russell wilson. This year, he cracked his wrist(and still kept on playing of course!). He's a tall ILB with mad coverage skills. Gee, are there any TEs in the AFC east worth covering? Jus' sayin' ~AS -

I'm a little late in contributing to this one, but... EGG-cellent thread, "rastro"! That drafttek of yours is a serious "buglite" for draft-nerds like me. This is the hardest time of year for wannabe GMs. there is like, nothing we could do, even if we worked for our team.. or owned it! hang in there fans. more shall be revealed ~AS
