  1. I checked around. The founder and owner, Kurt Ziebart came to this country in 1953. The AAFC existed from 1944 to 1949. There's no mention in his obit about playing football. However, the Bills longtime strength and conditioning coach was Rusty Jones. :D
  2. Did you watch the Chargers-Bengals game, Dorkington? Believe me, Dalton was horrible. He threw two picks among numerous inaccurate passes. He fumbled twice. He took a sack when he could have thrown the ball away a la Rob Johnson. The guy is an average QB in the regular season and a terrible post season QB. This is his 3rd year in the league and he looked like a rookie out there, IMO. His passer rating in 3 playoff games is 56.2. I would always prefer to have a developmental QB starting for my team than just another guy like Dalton who's team lifts him up instead of the other way around. JMO.
  3. So because it is BuffaloBills.com awards, we can surmise that they were chosen by Chris Brown and Murph? The blurb doesn't address who chose the winners. I'd be more interested to see what the players vote would be or even the booster club vote.
  4. Good observation. Guard particularly is a position where many non-blue chip players have had great careers. Of the 5 All Pro guards this year, only 1 was drafted in the first round. Two were drafted in the 3rd round and 2 were drafted in the 4th round. Also it's hard to find an offensive line that doesn't feature at least a couple of mid-low draft picks and/or undrafted free agents. This even applies to some of the great O-lines in NFL history.
  5. Yep. He had 4 ints for the season and 11 passes defensed. I'm not sure what Donnie Anderson had him drinking but he was a completely different player than his first two seasons. Nicely put except the Bengals would probably love to have Tony Romo instead of Dalton.
  6. It is a bit early. The draft is May 8th so we're more than 4 months out yet. We actually should be more focused on free agency I suppose although I haven't seen anyone post a list of pending free agents yet.
  7. Very cool! So you live in the San Diego area? Agreed. Also though it's not entirely his fault, he would still create a media distraction for his team because of his celebrity. He would have to be committed to keeping a low profile and it would help if he joined a stable organization which would be able to deal with the slight disruption his presence could cause.
  8. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/05/deanthony-thomas-entering-nfl-draft/ Oregon Wide Receiver-Running Back De'Anthony Thomas declares.
  9. I didn't know that Dilfer was a quarterback guru but in another thread I posted that if I was an NFL QB I'd spend my offseasons with quarterback gurus like Tom House, David Cutcliffe, George Whitfield, Terry Shea, Chris Weinke, etc. I'd study with all of these guys and try to improve my craft. I mentioned Tim Tebow and his reputation as a hard and dedicated worker and said that he should be doing this sort of thing if he wants to get back into the NFL. If the reports of him trying to fix his mechanics are true, I can't see why any team needing a QB wouldn't bring him in for a workout.
  10. To add to what's already been said, the better QBs won in all cases except in Green Bay however the best QBs also didn't have to carry their teams with their arms. They were just very efficient and relatively mistake free and in fact the ground games re-emerged in the playoffs. Except for KC-Indy, there was a fair amount of old-style football played.
  11. Like posterizing, some jokes get stale after awhile. Happy New Year everyone.
  12. Good info CornerBlitz. To add to the info, Wednesday January 15th is the last day for underclassmen to declare for this year's draft.
  13. Wow Dwight. I think you misconstrued. Mrags is a longtime season ticket holder, he sits down near the field, and he makes tons of noise. He's as dyed-in-wool Bills fan as you'll meet. But in his post he actually cuts slack to those fans who are less enthusiastic than he is and says the debate is a moot point, just enjoy the team. I don't know where you're getting a miserable attitude from.
  14. I don't doubt you Mark but in my circles I rarely met any of them. Meanwhile on Fridays I wear my Bills hard hat and have my Bills bumper sticker on my toolbox. It wasn't until the Harbaugh era that I really started hearing from Niners fans. BTW, I live in South San Jose but last week I was in Emeryville, Palo Alto, Dublin, Sunnyvale, and North San Jose.
  15. I agree. Henne's at least as good a player as Kevin Kolb. Then again so was Tarvaris Jackson. However Henne is still under contract to Jacksonville through 2014.
  16. Cheddar's Dad is also a poster who watches O-line play. BillsVet is another one who watches line play.
  17. Off the top of my head, the biggest QB errors the Bills have made in the last decade are passing on Kaepernick and Wilson. In 2006 they drafted Donte Whitner instead of Jay Cutler but I'm not sure Cutler is the kind of player Bills fans would have been satisfied with. In 2011 I suppose they could have packaged multiple draft picks to move up for Cam Newton. We don't know if Carolina would have traded though. Ditto in 2004 for Roethlisberger. The opportunity to draft one of these guys is rare. When one of them is within reach, you have to recognize the opportunity and make it happen. You need a bit of luck to get one in your sights and you need a bit of luck that the player will become the player you hope he'll become. During this same time period plenty of first round QBs busted so there's that too.
  18. 0-4 Ouch! Glad there was no money changing hands!
  19. Well Bills fans are great IMO. Small market, big stadium, lousy team, bad weather. I don't know how people can criticize our support of the team, quite frankly.
  20. Uh, 3 knee injuries including one in the preseason? The fact that he wore knee braces for a few games?
