  1. Mike Brown also preferred Kaepernick to Dalton but Gruden lobbied hard for Dalton. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/07/report-mike-brown-liked-kaepernick-jay-gruden-wanted-dalton/
  2. http://www.buffalobi...fe-6de9ab15ab16 “We’re in a league that’s based on a salary cap and there are certain positions you need to develop and spend your money in other areas,” he said. “My background as an offensive line coach I realize that you’re not going to be able to spend top dollar for five offensive linemen across the board.” What some of us have been saying all along. You can only invest so much in terms of high draft picks and free agents. As recently as last year the Bills had a first rounder and two second rounders on the O-line. If they took one tackle within the first two rounds, I'd be fine with that depending on the player and who else was available. Or draft a guard in rounds 3 or 4.
  3. Do you have a source for this information? That seems pretty high. So I just checked the Forbes 400 Richest Americans. The 400th Richest American is worth $1.3 billion. Ralph Wilson is not anywhere on the list. http://www.forbes.com/forbes-400/#page:1_sort:0_direction:asc_search:_filter:All%20industries_filter:All%20states_filter:All%20categories
  4. One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is that CJ was targeted 54 times in 2012 with 43 receptions and a 10.7 yards per reception. This year in one less game he was targeted 40 times for 33 receptions and a 5.6 yards per reception. I don't think there's any doubt that Spiller was used more effectively by Gailey, both in the run and the pass game. As for Hackett, let me again express how much I'd like to see one more person on the offensive staff. I do not like the fact that Nate is both the OC and the QB Coach.
  5. And/or merge it with this thread: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/165027-free-agency/ Thanks!
  6. A hot-headed Italian like yourself shouldn't be stereotyping others.
  7. There was an anonymous scout who seriously questioned whether Andy Dalton would be successful based on his having red hair. His quote was (paraphrased), "We asked ourselves seriously, has there ever been a good red-haired quarterback?"
  8. Pears is a lunger and like former Bill Langston Walker he usually connects on his shoves. Sometimes he doesn't. Good stuff TYTT.
  9. J drinks Carolina Moonshine. Before you get too impressed by that I should mention that he infuses it with lavender. Cheers all.
  10. add: I generally think it's a good idea to draft tackles more highly than guards. Depending on the individual athlete, some of them (Ruben Brown and Andy Levitre for instance) can transition to guard. Some of them can't. However how many guards have transitioned to tackle? Branden Albert played guard in college but largely because D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Eugene Monroe were ahead of him. Tackles are much more highly-drafted than guards for other reasons. Guards can be developed but tackles have to have the greater athletic talent the position demands.
  11. BTW, has there been anything official from the Bills? And commit virtual career suicide? I don't think this is plausible. You mean Marrone's special teams coach for two years at Syracuse, John Anselmo? Priefer is radioactive at the moment. His availability appears to be a moot point anyways. Or selling a home game to Toronto. :wallbash: Seriously, this non-move, if true, has me very disappointed. Like most informed fans, I considered Crossman's hiring to be a head-scratcher but was willing to give him a chance. He blew his audition and if he's retained, this severely compromises Marrone's message IMO. Also I thought Marrone's comments at the end-of-season news conference about "core special teamers" was lame. He and Whaley were the ones who assembled the roster. If there weren't enough core special teamers, that's his fault. There were plenty of core special teamers on the roster in 2012.
  12. Why do you always feel the need to dominate the conversation? :nana:
  13. This was brought up earlier in the thread. The place is too small. No one associated with the NFL would ever dream of hosting a game in a stadium with a capacity of less than 25,000 seats. Otherwise it would be a great location.
  14. Perhaps I should retract my invitation to participate here. I don't think your characterization of my beliefs is fully accurate. I've cited teams such as New Orleans drafting tackles and moving them to guard with great success and I've also cited Buddy Nix's belief that this is a sound practice. I've also discussed my skepticism of that belief due to OTs typically being taller, longer, players and OGs being shorter and playing with lower leverage. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/161631-three-guys-that-need-more-chatter/page__st__60#entry2913077 I've stated that tackles who can't bend their knees and play at a appropriate pad level will have problems playing the interior line. As for your last statement, the Niners actually have 3 first rounders on their O-line, not 2. They also have a 5th round pick and an undrafted free agent starting on the O-line. Until last year the Bills had 1 1st round pick and 2 2nd round picks as starters. The Bills are on par with most teams in the league as far as investing high picks on O-linemen. I'm against dogmatically picking offensive line at #9. I'm in favor of drafting the best player available. If that player happens to be an O-lineman, so be it.
  15. 2014 NFL Free Agent Lists: http://overthecap.com/freeagents.php?Position=QB&Year=2014 http://www.footballsfuture.com/freeagents.html http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/features/freeagents/fa.php?y=2014
  16. I know what the estimated net operating income figures show. It would be nice to know the net profit figures.
  17. Aaron Rodgers was masterful yesterday. He was an artist on the football field. It was amazing how cool he was under pressure and how much presence of mind he had when chaos was ensuing around him. Joe Montana had a playoff record of 16-7. Aaron Rodgers is 6-4 in the playoffs with a decidedly inferior team than Montana's Niners. Those ESPN guys are morons.
  18. Interestingly, former Bills All Pro Will Wolford was a first rounder as was another Commodore O-lineman, Bears draftee Chris Williams. As to the topic, #9 is a great draft position. The Bills can snag the BPA or trade down like last year, to good results. One of Buddy Nix's more irksome values was that he didn't like to move around in the draft. He finally altered his philsophy, unfortunately at first with disastrous results (TJ Graham) and then to better results with the Tavon Austin for EJ Manuel, Kiko Alonso, Marquis Goodwin, and Chris Gragg trade. I'm not dogmatic about things because everything is hypothetical until you're on the clock but in principle, I'm a believer of staying put, or trading down and much less so, trading up.
  19. One other distinction that I'm not sure has been made yet is that there's a difference between having fun and having fun at other people's expense.
  20. I don't yet have an informed opinion about Bortles but I think Gabriel's point is that he doesn't view Bortles as a franchise QB. It should be interesting to see how this whole thing unfolds.
  21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Jones "Ronnie Joe Jones (October 17, 1955 in Dumas, Texas is an American Football coach. Though currently an assistant at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, Jones has served on coaching staffs at numerous colleges and NFL teams."
