More fan-fantasy. Please remember young Darnell will want a huge contract, and the Bills tried those huge contracts out on free agents in their primes during Levy's first year as defacto GM - 2006. Dockery and Walker. Walker seems to be at least trying his best to earn his overpayments, and we all know how much of a bust Dockery was for his 49 Mil. Why do you think the Bills have not signed another young free agent coming into his prime since then? They wont' spend the money, period. Oh sure, they'll pick up a damaged former star like Stroud, he worked out pretty well so they even gave him a reasonable raise. But it's time to stop dreaming about the Bills signing these good to great players in their primes who are already unhappy with their pay on other teams. You really think the Buffalo Bills will be the team to trade for them and then sign them to that huge deal???

Let's review our choices as we conclude the rookie mini camp. Josh Reed and.......nobody. Yep, looks like Josh Reed should be number 3, unless Stevey Johnson somehow makes a giant leap during this coming training camp and passes Reed. Hardy? Well if his knee is healthy by camp, he should improve, but not nearly enough to be number 3.

Now you know the level of miffifity the original Cleveland Browns fans felt when Art Modell held the Lombardi Trophy up as co-owner of the Baltimore Ravens 6 years after he moved them from Cleveland to Baltimore. Added to their miffifity, is the lousy records their "new Browns" have put up since they came back as an expansion team in '99. As far as the Toronto Bills (or even Niagara Bills) are concerned, nobody has any idea when or where the Bills will move, since Ralph Wilson seems to be in fine health even at his advanced age, so who cares about that now?

DJ: 5-10 of the 30 tryout players could be signed...
VJ91 replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
De'Cody Fagg. I feel bad for his parents or grandparents, whichever generation were kids in the 70's. -
If TO helps take us to the next level, why only 1 year?
VJ91 replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless he wins his first SB this season with the Buffalo Bills, yeah, he'll be that gone after one season. -
Bills let rookie wear #12 in rookie camp. WTF?
VJ91 replied to TheKickIsGood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hillarious. This kind of reminds me of when Flutie arrived at the Pro Bowl a week after Elway had finally won his first SB, after the '98 season. Flutie "teased" Elway that he would wear #7 in the game. Elway just laughed at him and walked away. I could care less that some rookie or free agent wears a practice jersey with #12 on it. It's not like Edwards is going to tell Jimbo and the Bills organization that he has to wear #12 from now on or he won't play again. Kelly would just laugh at him and walk away. -
Bills STILL Interested In Waters?
VJ91 replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why not? Well let's see, um, just spit balling here, but maybe.....MONEY? How much does Waters earn now, and how much will he want to sign for long term with whatever team he lands with? These are after all the Wilson "Cash to the Cap" Bills were are talking about here. -
Of course they work....with the right athletes. Perry Fewell and his "11-Gap" / "Tampa (of 1976) 2" 4-3 base defense has been around running this garbage for 3 years now. Every year he and DJ talk about sending in DE's in waves. Keep fresh bodies coming in to rush the passer. The only "fresh body" that ever created any kind of push was that crazy DE that came over from the Rams....when he wasn't suspended....Anthony Hargrove. But the bottom line is, Fewell has plenty of "schemes" out of his cover-2 D for DE's to charge up field and go for the sack. I think I remember seeing Hargrove lining up in a 2 point stance like a linebacker right over the center a few times when the kid was around. There is no reason why Maybin can't fill that exact role. Fewell can move him up and down the line, using the outside linebacker and strong safety to cover his outside responsibilities.

Sorry, I didn't know this thread required me to go through the entire schedule. Here you go: Week 1 Mon, Sep 14 @ New England Patriots Loss 0-1-0 Week 2 Sun, Sep 20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win 1-1-0 Week 3 Sun, Sep 27 New Orleans Saints Win 2-1-0 Week 4 Sun, Oct 04 @ Miami Dolphins Loss 2-2-0 Week 5 Sun, Oct 11 Cleveland Browns Win 3-2-0 Week 6 Sun, Oct 18 @ New York Jets Win 4-2-0 Week 7 Sun, Oct 25 @ Carolina Panthers Loss 4-3-0 Week 8 Sun, Nov 01 Houston Texans Win 5-3-0 Week 9 Sun, Nov 08 BYE Week 10 Sun, Nov 15 @ Tennessee Titans Loss 5-4-0 Week 11 Sun, Nov 22 @ Jacksonville Jaguars Win 6-4-0 Week 12 Sun, Nov 29 Miami Dolphins Win 7-4-0 Week 13 Thu, Dec 03 New York Jets (Toronto) Win 8-4-0 Week 14 Sun, Dec 13 @ Kansas City Chiefs Win 9-4-0 Week 15 Sun, Dec 20 New England Patriots Loss 9-5-0 Week 16 Sun, Dec 27 @ Atlanta Falcons Win 10-5-0 Week 17 Sun, Jan 03 Indianapolis Colts Loss 10-6-0 Winning at Atlanta could be overly optimistic, so the best record we should expect from this year's Bills may very will be 9-7-0 instead of my above 10-6-0. Either way, yes, this is a tough schedule, so I am really being hopeful that they can pull this off!

If the new OL plays solid, and there is no rash of important injuries, with the addition of T.O, Rhodes & Nelson, and if Edwards stays healthy all year, then the offense will be much improved over last season. If Schobel is healthy and has a good year, and Maybin contributes at least 4 or 5 sacks and a bunch of QB hurries, and Williams and Stoud have even better years then last year, and Kelsay or the rookie DE from Virginia Tech who missed the entire season in IR last year make decent contributions, and Poz plays better, and Ellison or somebody plays better, with the addition of Bryd and the solid DE's coming back, then the defense can be improved. Special teams needs to of course stay special. Added together, with luck and again, without a rash of major injuries, the Bills can make the playoffs this season at 9-7-0, or 10-6-0 at best, in my opinion.

You can officially stop tooting your own horn. Langston Walker has already been announced as the starting LT before the first OTA. Jauron said it, and the OL coach Kugler said it. Plus, Walker was the starter last year at LT during the entire training camp and into the first game against Seattle, with Peters out. So how do you come up with Chambers, and all your confidence in him, being the starting LT for the whole year, when he hasn't even been penciled in as the starting RT yet?!? He will be competing with Demetrius Bell for the RT spot, according to all the articles I've read so far.

I think this: You sign the very best FA's the first few weeks of free agency, from the end of Feb. into March. The Bills signed Mike Hangartner, and the CB from Jacksonville that had not panned out well for them. That's it. Two lower lever FA's. Then the sports world shined on Buffalo when Brandon flew down to Miami and brought T.O. up to Buffalo for one season. Did you notice how exhausted Brandon looked introducing Owens during the press conference? I think it's because his season tickets renewals were due a few days later, and this was his last and only chance to keep the sales up. Then the draft came, and now the Bills have 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks to sign. Considering, again, that T.O.'s entire deal came to a 4 Million dollar up front bonus, and then another 2.5 million in guaranteed salary during the one season he will be here, Brandon did a hell of job keeping those FA costs way down this year! So with all of that, do you really think there will be anything "substantial" he will do to make the team better in the coming weeks?? Here's the only thing I hope the Bills do, but I doubt they'll even get this done: Get all those important rookies signed and into training camp from day ONE, so we can get the maximum contributions from them possible! Unfortunately, for Brandon and Ralph and Littman to do that, they will have to pay some of their rookies before other NFL teams make deals with their rookies picked just before or just after them. And we all know that the Buffalo Bills are never trend setters when it comes to paying their players. So expect one or all of the following rookies; Maybin, Wood, Bryd & Levitre to miss some training camp time while the Bills wait for the other teams to set their prices.

What does that mean, "wrap himself around the job"??!! I really don't like JP a lot. Let's face it, Donahoe and Mularkey lost faith in Drew Bledsoe following that disaster game at home against the Steelers to end the '04 season. But looking back, although I was not big fan of Bledsoe either, I now see how pathetic it was for him to be relegated to back up Lost-man the very next season of 2005. No wonder Bledsoe was so pissed about that stupid decision, and demanded to just be cut. Lost-man sucks, end of sentence. He sucked during that amazing opportunity Mularkey handed him in '05, and he has sucked just as badly ever since. Just another first round QB bust. You call that failing to wrap himself around the job? I call it simply not being able to perform as a starting NFL QB. He is now entering his 5th year (6th, not counting his injury-plagued rookie season), and he is further away from starting then ever. If Lost-man is lucky, he can get signed by a team with a sturdy starter, and remain his back up for the next few years without having to play very much.

I would like to see Edwards record his first 300 yard passing game, before I make predictions on how many times he can do it. As far as his potential, I think he can be an excellent QB in this league, and I think he has the arm and the strength to toss 300 yard games around, if he has the blocking and catching that need to go along with them! As far as Turk-ey's schemes? Well with T.O. along for his one year ride, it won't take long for us to find out what he will be thinking about those schemes!!

Sure, I'll offer my opinion...too expensive and too young a free agent for the "Cash to the Cap" Bills to spend their money on. My guess is that he will re-sign with the SeaHawks for mega bucks before long.

Levy jones wants to "go back home" and play for the Cardinal
VJ91 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who is Levy Jones....Marv's grandson? -
Because it seems that all their football fans only go to games on Saturdays in Jacksonville. As NFL Buffalo Bills fans, why should we care if Jacksonville has better college football fans then Buffalo does? The fact remains, that the Jags fans suck compared to Bills fans!

RWS is an old stadium. The basic main structure was built in 1972 and opened in 1973! Even the massive improvements and added luxury suites, that cost we taxpayers over 100 Million dollars, are now over 10 years old! Now, that said, of course it is going to seem like the worst stadium in the NFL! The older stadium "bowls" or structures, such as the old Soldier Field structure, Lambeau Field's basic bowl, and Arrowhead Stadium's basic structure, although still standing, have had much newer and much more expensive reconditioning and remodeling jobs done to them, so even they seem newer and more fan-friendly. Just about every other stadium in the NFL except in Oakland, San Diego and for just one more season, New Jersey Meadowlands, have complete newer stadiums to watch their teams play in then we do.

You listed 9 positive adjectives, and only two "decents". Too bad the two "decents" (OL & FO & Coaching staff) easily out-weigh all your "goods'' and "greats" and "Wows", year in and year out. With only a "decent" OL, all of that offensive talent can't score TD's. And with only a decent FO and coaching staff, most of your "goods" and "greats" end up being "decents" to "goods", because the FO did not bring the best players in, or the coaches did not utilize them in the best ways. But I do agree with one thing, time will tell....

Sure they will. Why not throw in T.O. and Aaron Maybin while you're at it.

Who cares about how nice a guy DJ is? And you need to hear of me to respond to my PM? Wow, is this like "top secret double probation"?? Don't worry, you've never heard of me, but I won't be sending any PM's to hear what a wonderful life "George Baily Jauron" has had! I hope the guy wins the damn SB this season, and gets treated like Tony Dungy. But I'm afraid the reality of it is, he most likely won't sniff the playoffs this season either, get fired, and continue to be Mr. Nice Guy lousy coach.

What is our biggest post draft (that's PD Deano) need?
VJ91 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The biggest priority for me would be to get a veteran left or right tackle in here before mandatory OTA's! At least make Brad Butler and/or Dametrius Bell work for the starting right tackle spot, instead of just handing to them with zero NFL starts at RT between them. Even if the vet is a right tackle and we still need to slide Walker over to the left side, he would provide depth at the very least! -
Well said. And may I add, that the current Bills' coaches don't make it very easy for rookies or 2nd year players to have much impact, since they bury them on the bench for every little mistake they make. Pretty stupid, for coaches that seem to be in love with finishing 7-9-0 year in and year out. I heard Ellis had some good pass rushing skills, and of course he could make some noise this season, as long as he memorizes his playbook cover to cover and never misses an assignment, dammit!
