  1. First, John Henderson would be a decent signing, but not worth getting too excited about, if the Jags are willing to part with him for a 4th round draft choice. Secondly, the writer of this post is obviously not a Pro writer, reading his bad grammar. So it appears Skooby has found another secondary source to share with us yet again.
  2. So the Bills spend their money "wisely". How can you think that when even you are admitting that Peters will most likely play like a top 5 LT in the NFL for another NFL team this season, while the Bills will be filling his gap with Langston Walker - who absolutely nobody thinks is evern a top 20 LT?? What is "wise" about that kind of personnel decision for a team that has not made the playoffs in 9 straight seasons?? If they knew they were not going to sign Peters, and we all know they knew that months ago, Peters always told them he wanted the best LT money, then how could they not have already signed a better veteran LT then Walker by now?? And I'm tired of hearing how Evans deserved his big payday. He "rewarded" the Bills by putting up 63 lousy catches and all of 3 whole TD's last season, his first after getting the big bucks. And not a single fan out here seems to care how pathetic those numbers are for number one receiver getting top 5 WR money in the NFL. We make all the popular excuses for our few stars. The line was not good. The QB was not good. The OC was not good. But the superstar player is supposed to overcome those excuses and put up the numbers year in and year out. Evans sucked worse then Peters did last year, in my humble opinion.
  3. I'll give the circle jerks credit for one thing: they are determined to fight "unhappy" players under contract. I suppose that could be a sign that they are developing some kind of tradition to be proud of within the Wilson Bills franchise. (I will continue to call the Buffalo Bills the Wilson Bills until the day they lock down a playoff spot. Until that day, Ralph Wilson is accountable for all of these consecutive years out of the postseason!!) As far as it being "exciting", and giving them credit - win or lose, I do not agree with! Using that 18 Million extra dollars from Toronto to sign T.J. "Who's Your Daddy" to a 6 year deal wold have been exciting to me, as opposed to investing 6.5 Million into one lousy year of renting T.O. Using that 18 Million to extend Peters' contract and making the kid proud and happy would have been exciting to me, as opposed to reading Andy Reid of the Eagles calling Peters the best tackle in football and them paying him his money. Using that 18 Million to extending Freddy Jackson's contract to one that is comparable to other number two backs that were less productive to him would have been exciting to me, as opposed to them using money saved from dumping Peters to bring in Rhodes while Freddy's feelings continue to be hurt. Yeah, they seem to be trying. The bottom line is, regardless of how excited you are or how excited I'm not, will they just finally make the damn playoffs this year or extend their "streak" to 10 long frustrating years??
  4. Good point. But the Eagles are certainly convinced he will more then prove his worth, despite his Pro Bowl season he had last year. And oh by the way, I have to assume that every fan on this board who continue to be convinced Peters sucked so much last year will never again participate in the "Fan Balloting" for the Pro Bowl moving forward. You all have to think the entire process is tainted and a joke or some kind of conspiracy for players and coaches to help certain other players get huge contracts they don't deserve, right??
  5. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-7-89/...-in-Philly.html Tim Graham - Today I told you he would get every cent he was demanding from the Wilson Bills. I told you he would be the highest paid OL. Now, the only thing left to see is if he becomes the biggest waste of money in NFL history as most of you believe he will on this board. Or, as I still believe, instead he simply continues his Hall of Fame career, compiling Pro Bowls almost yearly, as the anchor on the left side of the Eagles line for the next 5 or 6 years at least. I will say it once more since I always said Peters would get his money from some NFL team: This kid has more pride and desire then any bitter Bills fan will ever give him credit for. He is simply a product of today's modern NFL star: he used his ego and his agent because he knew it would work out in his favor. How can anyone blame him for that now?? Flame me, mock me if you must. Tell me to get lost, tell me your sick of my defending him over and over. Who cares? The bottom line is the Wilson Bills dumped an All Pro left tackle because they were just too cheap to pay him what he IS NOW OFFICIALLY WORTH, in the NFL market place.
  6. Great thought. He would be the perfect Wilson Bills signing. A former great player coming off injury problems, who could help the team and not break the bank. I would love to see Simmons signed now that Peters is gone.
  7. I really respect Tim. He gets it. Plus the other people quoted in his article seem to be pretty high on Peters too. Not a shock to me.
  8. Good point, I'll go along with that. However, the Eagles don't seem to be too worried about the sacks stat based on the two FA tackles they have now brought in, do they??
  9. I won't believe that until I read it from the Eagles organization. But even if it is the actual figure, what does that prove? I have not heard Brandon come out and tell us he offered Peters 9 Million a year for 6 years. Plus, if I know the Wilson Bills, they were probably offering only a 3 or 4 year contract at 9 Mil per. And then you have to know the "cash to the cap" Bills were most likely offering less of a signing bonus then the Eagles end up giving him.
  10. Wow, Alex Mack, I forgot about him. I love the kid, and have even posted the Bills should use their number 11 choice on him to shore up the center position for the next 10 years. Of course that was before we dumped our Pro Bowl LT off to Philly. How ironic. Now the Bills own the perfect pick to "not have to reach" for Mack, and they have to use it on the best tackle available instead. Or, the best pass rusher instead, if they use 11 for the tackle. Either way, now with Peters gone, they don't have the luxury of drafting Mack, unless he's still around when they pick in the second round.
  11. I'm shocked cbssports.com even knew who Bell was. Yeah that's a great plan. Bell was one of our 7th round draft picks last year, so the Wilson Bills could play him another 4 years and not have to worry about paying him squat while they hope he is another diamond in the rough like Peters was.
  12. Lee Evans received his elite WR contract and followed that up with 63 catches for barely over 1,000 yards and 3 TD's. You call that reliable? I call it a decent season for a number two receiver. You think Jason Peters is such a bad character. I would prefer to have an elite number one receiver with a little less "character", and about 10 more TD passes per season! Marcus Stroud? He played one nice season for the Bills, much less of the player he once was but still a good year based on his injuries he was coming off of. Bang, he gets a new contract without even asking for one. Since he just signed this contract a few weeks ago, you have no idea if he will be "more reliable" then Peters. Peters? Undrafted rookie free agent signed as a tight end coming out of college. Works his butt off and finds his way to the O Line allowing the Bills to rid themselves of the Mike Williams disaster. Next thing you know he a Pro Bowl left tackle, with an ego twice his huge size. Oh well, it takes all kinds of players to make up a PLAYOFF TEAM, doesn't it?? Peters made his case, and decided to be a jerk and hold out and then ask for even more money and threaten to hold out again. He was not a player of "high character" or a good "team player" about the money the thought he was worth. SO WHAT? The Bills have the extra money now to afford to pay the kid what he wants, and then not have to worry about their LT for the next 8 years or so. So now Peters go to Philly and everyone out here is just waiting for him to get fat, lazy and be the Mike Williams of the Eagles. Sorry, I will never believe that. This is the new NFL and "high character" players are not that easy to find. But talented players who still work hard on the field are easier to find if you pay them. The Eagles are paying Peters, and the Bills refused. We'll see how it all works out.
  13. The NFL has a salary cap, so you cannot compare the Bills to the Twins. The Eagles operate under the same cap as the small market Ralph Wilson Bills do. Plus, now the Wilson Bills have an extra 18 Million per year in un-shared revenue they could use to pay free agents from their "North America's Team" deal ...if they wanted to, of course. Instead, I see they are sticking to their "cash to the cap" philosophy regarding free agents, and have now dumped 3.5 Million a year from the Peters salary dump - er, I mean trade, and are soon to add another 3 million a year when they dump Parrish for the 5th round pick. Gee, if you add those two salary dumps together, you get 6.5 Million, the exact cost of signing T.O. to his big one year contract. So let me get this straight, they break even on signing T.O. so far in free agency right after they dump Parrish in the next week, so they've used that extra 18 Million dollar wind fall from Toronto to sign......Mike Hangartner?? Wow, let's all continue to keep feeling sorry for poor Ralph Wilson and his small market, OK? In the meantime, we can continue to watch small market Pittsburgh reinvest into their players and coaches so they continue to remain a championship franchise decade after decade.
  14. A 5th rounder makes perfect sense to me. Just another salary dump deal. Don't forget, the Bills overspent to pay T.O. for his one year. This dump of Parish's salary will help offset that money, without having to dig into that precious Toronto money. Love these 2009 Ralph Wilson Bills.
  15. Trade up into the number 3 slot in the first round? What team do you root for? Do you have any idea what kind of contract Curry is going to command, or any OT that gets picked at that number 3 slot, for that matter? The Bills are shaving payroll, and banking their millions from Toronto. The Bills are not interested in any huge player contracts these days, or they would have signed their 27 year old Pro Bowl left tackle! I'll be happy if they stay put and use their number 11 pick on a player, and then somehow find the money to sign him at most, 3 weeks into training camp!
  16. The guy does make one good point. The Bills simply would not pay Peters, so they dumped him. And why did they have to dump him? I think the smartest thing the circle-jerks could have done was nothing. If you made your best offer and it wasn't enough for him to even bother playing football under contract, then fine. Let him sit. If he would have come back a few days before the opening game again this fall, fine. Let him practice, work his big butt off. And bury him on the bench until he absolutely destroyed the guy starting in front of him in practice. Then, make him work that hard week after week and force him to earn his status as best LT in the NFL. And if he became that in everyone's eyes, then just pay the guy and get into the damn playoffs!! What do you really think Peters is going to do in Philly after he gets the money the Bills refused to pay him. Do you really think he's going to be a huge bust in front of those fans just because you guys out here on this board think that little of his pride and talent?? I doubt it. I loved the kid. Free agent tight end, turns himself into a Pro Bowl left tackle in two years. Sure his ego got the best of him, but like the guy said, aren't we excited to have T.O. on the Bills right now??
  17. What about the extra 18 Million of un-shared revenue the Bills pocketed from Rogers Communications last season? Why not just use that money to pay Peters' signing bonus and keep the 27 year old Pro Bowl left tackle on your team? That total will be up to $36 Million by this time next season, and do you really think the Bills will spend it on any Pro Bowl free agents not coming off injuries and in the prime of their careers, demanding at least $10 Million a year? Good luck hoping for that from our Ralph Wilson Bills!!
  18. This guy is not capable of rational thought. What is he, some kind of a fantasy football nerd? What do they know about linemen anyway? "Walter Football" - sounds real authoritative. First of all sack stats are total b.s. Do the lineman that allow just a rare few sacks over 16 games get credit for the times their butts are saved by a back chipping or by the QB ducking and throwing the ball before a sack? Of course they don't. Well then the same should hold true for the lineman that block their man perfectly long enough for the QB to get the called pass off, but hold onto the ball too long and end up getting sacked by their man! Or if there is a certain protection called with a stunt on the OL, and the tackles' man blows by him while he's doing his called job, but the back blows the protection and the QB gets sacked. No breaks there for the poor tackle, are there?? Sack stats are garbage and a waste of time to even try to keep track of. Secondly, the Pro Bowl itself may be a joke, but the players and coaches and fans selecting the players are serious about the process. Third, Walter the expert doesn't even have too many other 27 year old two time Pro Bowl left tackles to compare Peters to, since he is most likely at least the youngest LT in the NFL to have that distinction. I'm a Bills fan and should be encouraged about this "article" However, I'm afraid I will end up watching Peters anchor the Eagles left side of the line just fine and continue to add to his Pro Bowls over the next 5 to 8 years, while the Bills may need that many more years just to find his replacement. Don't believe this jerk. The Eagles will be the real winners here.
  19. It makes sense as long as you make an outstanding 4th round pick this season! Come on. I've posted many times how stupid the Bills have been over the years, only having chosen big Mike Williams on Day One of the draft for the OL. I mean ONE lousy first, second or even third round pick spent on the OL in forever, and that ONE pick ended up in the TOP 10 DRAFT FLOPS OF ALL TIME list. Did everyone agree with such an obviously good opinion? Of course not! I got more then a few posts reminding me how some of the great teams in the NFL today have OL's consisting of late round draft picks and free agents anyway! Teams like the Pats, and Giants for example. More 5th, 6th or 7th rounders or free agents on those excellent lines then day one picks. So, with that in mind, it becomes a matter of good lucky drafting to take advantage of the extra 6th rounder in 2010, when choosing that 4th rounder next week! If he becomes a contributor quickly, it would off set not taking the 3rd rounder, and set the Bills up with that extra 6th rounder for next year's draft. Let's face it. 80 Million or more in un-shared revenue from Toronto or not, Wilson's Bills still carry on with the stance that they will NOT pay top money for their players. Whatever the Eagles end up paying Peters, it will obviously be more then the Wilson Bills were willing to part with. They will have to become much better at drafting if Wilson ever wants to watch his team play in a post season game before he dies!
  20. Under the circumstances, the poll is incorrect on both counts, in my opinion. You cannot expect to get rid of a malecontent player and then expect to get great value for him in a trade. That is illogical. I voted that we should not have traded him at all. But since the Bills took the cheap road out yet again, and they decided to go ahead and trade him and his salary demands away, I then voted that we did get about as good a deal as can be expected.
  21. Very cool. It certainly has nothing to do with the Bills, but I always liked the Beetles myself. I watched Paul McCartney doing a recent concert on some cable station the other night. He has to be in his mid 60's at least, by now. You could never tell, he cranked out hit after hit and sounded awesome.
  22. Stop it already! Boy-Brandon did not get hosed. This was a damn salary dump. Don't blame the Eagles for "only" giving the Bills one 1st round draft pick, thank them for it! Give Brandon a pat on the back for getting a 1st round pick back for trading a player only because you are too cheap to pay him what he is worth. Now watch how much money the Eagles pay this kid, after giving up a first round pick for him. 11 Million per season, perhaps?? The entire inner-circle jerks hosed we fans by not paying Peters and trading him in the first place. You are 100% right on that point.
  23. It's a horrible deal by the Bills only because they decided to trade Peters at all. They could have taken less if the Eagles would have been tougher on them. By the way, is that an old Beetles album cover as your avatar?? I really don't get this avatar thing out here!
  24. Oh come on, you are kidding right? Why would the Eagles ever give up their 20th pick and a 3rd round draft pick when they knew damn well the Bills needed to dump Peters now?!? Listen, give Brandon some credit here. I think he did better then he could have. He got the 28th pick and I never thought he would get that. I was prepared for a 2nd and 3rd all along. How does this crap about using that 78 Million of un-shared revenue from Rogers Communications to be competitive sound right about now???
