Bills being pulled into supplement lawsuit
VJ91 replied to LynchMob23's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who cares? Pat Williams is just looking for every excuse he can find to get around his positive drug test. -
News flash Skooby, Ralph Wilson has already covered this subject. He's the owner until he dies. Then his heirs will be selling the team to whoever they want, despite the fact that "this highest bidder stuff concerns you." I've posted many times how he should just sell the team to the alleged Jim Kelly group now, if he really gave a crap about his "legacy." If Kelly really kept the team in Buffalo without changing the name to "Niagara Bills" - both Kelly (with this alleged group of billionaires who love Western New York), and Wilson would secure their "legacy" as heroes for the next 50 years. But that's fantasy, and we must live in the real world. Here in the real world, 90 year old Ralph Wilson owns the team till he's gone, and then it gets sold. Period. End of story.

Great. So....is he heathy? How's his back? Wait. Who cares? If he has injury problems, we'll find out soon because those are the only free agents the Bills sign! I'll find out all there is to find out about Levi after Brandon signs him.
-
Yeah, great job Russ! Why the hell didn't you draft all the top O Line and D Line-men available in the draft, dammit? You would think the Bills had like 31 other teams drafting players against them at the same time or something! Just how much more of this crap are we supposed to put up with?
-
I don't know, but my guess is that we'll find out pretty quickly on MNF week 1 against the genius and his Pats. Before we get all carried away here, let's see how this team all comes together during the summer.

A new role for Bills backers in Buffalo
VJ91 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice gesture, but hardly needed. All the 7th round draft picks and undrafted free agents are only worried about finding a place to sleep and working out at the teams' training facilities until training camp starts at St. John Fisher. Everything is taken care of for them during training camp, and then most of them have only one more week or so after training camp breaks before they get cut anyway. Those that actually make the team, will begin earning more then enough money to be able to figure out how to find an apartment or home, and buy groceries at Tops or Wegmans. Even the kids that get brought back for the practice squad make around a grand a week or more for the entire season. Minor league hockey players are in an entirely different universe. Most of them are from different countries, and may need help to understand even the English language sometimes. They are truly earning dirt money and can really use all the financial help they can get as they ride the buses and hope for their NHL dream to come true. -
Something I heard on the radio yesterday

Well, you do have a fine avatar, anyway. As for what Fox sports says (or doesn't say) about the Bills, who cares??? -
Bruce Smith ran the 40 yard dash in....wait a minute. Bruce never ran the 40 yard dash, did he? He was the obvious considered the finest DE coming out of college, and the number one pick by the Bills in the entire '85 draft. In fact, he very rarely showed up for an entire training camp after his second or third season in the NFL. We can ask him how important he felt having a good time in the 40 was for his career after he makes his Hall of Fame acceptance speech in Canton in a few months. Screw the "measureables." If Maybin just comes in and plays in obvious passing situations, and gets 6 or 7 sacks and a bunch of QB hurries, he will be more then worth the #11 pick in this draft!
-
Of course Freeney never ran that fast. If he really weighed 266 pounds, and ran a 4.38 40, the steroid juice would have been streaming out of his ass as he crossed the 40 yard finish line!! Listen, I watched Freeney play for Syracuse, and of course we all have seen him in the NFL. I can only wish Maybin becomes that good!

Obviously native Hawaiians use the term "brah" as in: "bro." Either that, or the posters on this thread really loved that insane character who played Adam Sandler's buddy in "50 First Dates."

The Bills do manage to sign some interesting rookie free agents every post draft April. This guy has to be a tackling machine, or at least a special teams maniac to have a chance to make it though. Don't forget about the rookie LB Bowen from last year that sat out all of '08 on IR. He'll be back, and the Bills had high hopes that he could add some muscle to Ellison's position until he got injured. I wish him well, if he is as good as you say he is, I hope the coaches give him a chance to prove it.

The Bills Have Drafted Their Pass Catching TE, But.....
VJ91 replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, I never asked myself that. I just asked myself why the Bills' coaches could not figure out how to use their 6'6 receiver last season, that's all. I could care less how many other tall receivers there are or not are in the NFL. The Bills drafted Hardy in the second round last season, and then promptly told us how effective they could make him during his rookie season. Now let's see how effective they can make their sure fire pass catching tight end. They say it, I don't. -
Um, how can you be better then another rookie QB, if you "never take a snap."?? The only way this post makes sense is if Davis also never takes a snap. And even then, you can't prove that Willy was the better "no snap-taker" then Davis anyway!
-
Good for Drew. He led the Bulls to one of the best upsets in Conference Championship history with the won over Ball State last year. Here's hoping he has a good NFL career at least as a dependable back up over the next 10 years, and comes back to Buffalo and UB as a good ambassador to Bulls football.

The Poorpisses Drafted Pat White For Their Wildcat Offense
VJ91 replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
By the way, I thought your mock draft was fine. Those players would have helped the Bills too. Don't be so hard on yourself. I was hoping for Orapko to slip. He did, yet the Bills still went with Maybin. Time will tell who will be the better pass rusher. -

I'm not "bitching" about Nelson. Perhaps you don't have the attention span to read an entire post. Fine. But if you did read the entire post, you would find that my "B word" is with the coaches that will be greeting Nelson at that first minicamp, to hand him their 3,000 page playbook and start demanding him to be an all pro blocker. -

VJ91 replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, every offense is complicated. But most offenses were better then Buffalo's, and the Bills could have used Hardy's basic athletic talents more then most of the other offenses in the NFL last year, during the 14 games the kid was not injured. It was Schonert's failure more then Hardy's, that Hardy was not effective last season, on such a lame offense. -

After Owens & Reed, which of those other two receivers are 6'6?? If I am the Bills OC, I have Hardy (if his knee is healthy of course), on the field on every passing play! -
Right. Two rookies (Wood and Levitre) starting at the guard positions. Thank you for agreeing with my post. And your point?....

The Poorpisses Drafted Pat White For Their Wildcat Offense
VJ91 replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think the wildcat offense will be scrapped this season, especially with the Dolphins drafting White. I also don't think it will be used as much, nor be as effective this season either. It is kind of like when Flutie was All Pro his first year back in the NFL in '98, and then he struggled mightily his second season in '99. (Although he still fought his way to a 10-5-0 season as the starter, then had the playoff game ripped away from him because RJ went 1-0-0 in the last meaningless game at home against a bad Colts team. - but I digress....) Flutie was a novelty that no team was ready for in '98, just like the wildcat was a novelty last season. Teams have a habit of watching tape and preparing for novelties from one season to the next. White may add some zip to the wildcat and even run some other stuff like the way the Steelers used "Slash" Stewart in the mid 90's. But I don't see the wildcat being featured as much by other teams as it was last season. -
I won't even call them inner circle-jerks. I think the Bills and their inner circle of trust, had an excellent draft. Now comes the hard part. We all know Peters is gone, and they plan on starting two excellent rookies at the guard positions. (Excellent, but still rookies.) They seemingly have a steal at tight end in another rookie, Nelson. Yet the clock is ticking on their one year rentall with T.O. and his potential 10 TD's towards a playoff spot. Here's my point. These coaches really need to use the talents of the rookies, and second and third year players! Up till now, during our annual 7-9-0-fest, DJ and his merry band of coaches have treated the young kids like the Bills are 3 time SB Champions or something. They have been quick to put them on IR when they get injuries that are not season ending. They are demanding in the young kids' understanding of every nuance of their offensive and defensive playbooks. Well forget all of that arrogant crap for this season. DJ had better shorten his playbooks, and make his coaches actually work, to be able to utilize the talents of all these young guys like the rookie guards and Demetrius Bell and Chambers and Maybin and Ellis and the linebacker from last year that spent the whole year on IR. The list could go on and on. Hardy, depending on his rehab, needs to be that extra threat in the red zone, to free T.O. up and help him get his 10 TD's. The rookie Byrd that everyone has replacing Simpson at safety despite the fact Byrd has never played safety. They better coach the heck out of him.
-
Wow, sounds great. Here's hoping Turk-ey Shoenert feels the same way if Shawn doesn't grasp every single nuance of this 2,000 page playbook, and, even more importantly, if Shawn doesn't make pancake blocks every single time he lines up near the line of scrimmage. We know how demanding the Bills coaches can be on young players. Let's face it, we have our annual 7-9-0 standards to uphold. Robert Royal was smart and passed all of his blocking grades on tape. Despite the fact the guy either dropped, or fumbled every single important first down pass ever thrown his way, the Bills coaches still did not really want to cut him until they absolutely had to. They even kept playing him after Derek Fine caught every pass thrown to him, because let's face it, Fine just was not "smart" enough to stay on the field.

Angry about 7th round draft choices?? Chances are neither the 7th round CB nor this rookie free agent Tackle will make the team anyway, so who gets pissed about these guys?

Peters for Nelson & Wood & Late 2010 Pick
VJ91 replied to Numark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From today's Buffalo News.... "It appears the Bills plan to move Langston Walker to left tackle and slide right guard Brad Butler to right tackle, where he was originally drafted to play. Rookies Eric Wood and Andy Levitre, the second picks in the first and second rounds, respectively, are slated to start at left and right guard with Geoff Hangartner at center. Kirk Chambers, Demetrius Bell, Jonathan Scott and Seth McKinney provide depth at guard and tackle." So here is the bottom line with the Peters trade: Peters gets replaced with Langston Walker at LT - big downgrade. (and pun intended too.) Rookie Wood starts at guard - ? Hangartner starts at center - Hopeful upgrade but I know nothing about this guy. Rookie Levitre starts at guard - ? Butler starts at RT - Hopeful wash compared to Walker, but quite possible slight downgrade due to inexperience. Nelson - will NOT start, nor play every down at TE, due to the fact that he cannot block his way out of a phone book at the NFL level. He may catch a few passes, if Edwards has time to find him. What's my point? I would still rather have Peters then Wood and Nelson. Just my opinion, but they don't grow Pro Bowl LT's on trees. -
I get your sarcasm. However, despite the fact neither one of them suck, they do have perfectionist coaches that won't let them see the playing field, despite their athletic talents, if they make one damn mistake. I love the way Buffalo coaches put the rookies on IR despite the fact they might be ready to play again before the season is over. It's like they are saying; "whew, at least we don't have to play that kid this year with all those mistakes he'll make!". If DJ has any fantasies about extending his time here, if the Bills have any fantasies about making the playoffs during their one rental year with T.O., they had better simplify their damn playbooks to accomodate the talents and athletic abilities of all of these rookies and second and third year players they have had locked to the bench!!
