It's amazing to me all the faith placed in a player drafted in the 4th round who has had not made any plays in the NFL in 2 seasons and is being used to justify selecting a CB in the 1st round with so many other more important needs. Brilliant.
I laughed at this pick just like when the Bills selected Spiller. Just when the Bills make a good move signing Mario Williams, they lose the chance to take another big step forward. CB's don't win games. I get that Kalil and Keuchly were gone but how about a guy who can make plays like like Floyd or someone to help in pass protection and the running game like Reiff. Gilmore may be a solid player but get me someone who has more of an impact on the game. This is just stupid.
The Dolphins will answer all questions about Tannehill with their pick at #8. His ex-coach at Texas AM Mike Sherman is now the Dolphins OC. If they pick him he's a legit prospect. If they pass, it raises red flags because the Dolphins are desperate for a franchise QB and Sherman is the best source on whether he can succeed in the NFL right now.
Okay, as the draft approaches tomorrow, it's time to post scouting cliches. A few of my favorites:
Has all the physical tools (all-time favorite)
Can make all the throws
Plays with great leverage
What else you got?
Makes perfect sense to you and me. Unfortunately, there are attorneys who will convince a jury otherwise solely for the almighty dollar. Suing someone has become very lucrative in our society.
Let's win now already. I don't want our 1st round pick to be a developmental player. Give us someone who steps in day one and makes an immmediate impact to build on the Mario Williams momentum and push toward the playoffs. To me, the LB from BC makes the most sense.
Merriman's days of being of being a dominant LB are likely done. Steroids have ravaged his body and Achilles injuries are difficult to overcome. He cannot be counted on to play LB for the Bills.
Free shot? When was suffering thru another losing season and using the resulting 10th overall pick considered a "free shot?" And I'd hardly call Tanneyhill a franchsie QB prospect.
If Russ Brandon was still GM it would get done because like TO, Tebow would put fannies in seats. I also agree with your thought on dumping Brad Smith and bringing in Tebow for the wildcat roll. This guy dominated in the 4th quarter when opposing defenses were tired. Bring Tebow in when the other team is sucking wind and have him run wild
