How do you justify watching football?
John in Jax replied to formerharvardquarterback's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For me, my reasons for not wanting to waste time watching are a little different. The absolute inconsistency of officiating (especially in holding and pass interference calls), and just blown/missed calls, has become a joke. And then there's the "no loyalty" by 99% of the players...I mean no loyalty to the city & fans they play for. Many fans' lives revolve around the NFL season, but the players couldn't care less...offer'em more $$$ and they're gone in a heartbeat. So yeah, over the past 10 years, I have definitely cut way back my time watching NFL games. Sure I'll try to watch all the Bills games, but I don't go out of my way to watch, especially if they stink...and that has been often over the last 10 years, LOL. -
Saw this early this morning, first thing on "Mike & Mike"...what a freakin' joke! All it told me that Dalton is a crybaby, and a real sore loser.

Just as a side note, the Bungles OL was holding ALL night long, but were rarely called. In fact, on the one drive where they got their 2nd FG, the drive was kept alive on a 3rd down defensive holding call on the Texans, and on that same play, Watt was clearly clotheslined by an offensive lineman, but no call was made. Also, until both the Bungles AND the Panthers show me that they can win in the playoffs, I'm not a believer. Lol

Not sure if this has been said already in this thread, but I guess penciling in a win for the Bills over the Redskins is no sure thing, huh? Well, honestly, with the Bills, you can't do that against anyone. But hey there are those in here that are stating a 10 or 11 win season for the Bills....LMAO.

Speaking of that time frame: I thought that the Bills clock management was horrible there. They should have used a TO way earlier than they did, and they would have had ample more opportunity to go in for 6. Was sitting there wondering why they just wasted about 40-50 seconds of the last 2 minutes.

Agree that McCoy is very good.....but only one more loss, huh? That's some very wild & very crazy optimism right there. My rational take is they top out at 9-7, with the losses coming at the Patriots, Cowboys, and Eagles. And of course, the teams that they "should" handle easily...well, they never do...see the Jacksonville Jaguars for instance. Lol

2015-16 Buffalo Bills Negative Thread
John in Jax replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My prediction of 8-8 still stands, as MAYBE they can beat the Texans, Redskins, and Jets again.....but they did lose to the Jags, so don't hold your breath. LOL -
I totally agree with your first four sentences above, although there may be SOME people who don't. Your last two sentences are off the mark though. This is a message forum where we discuss ALL things Bills' related, so even though I'm not "truly offended", and it doesn't affect my life in any way (I can say the latter about the whole NFL too), I can still offer an opinion about an idiotic statement that a Buffalo Bill made. And again, SOME people may be offended...in today's world, there's ALWAYS going to be somebody offended by everything, LOL......so shouldn't they be allowed to express their opinion?

I just read one story about this matter, which had the pejorative post. But even if he...Sammy....was "attacked" by "fans" for being injury-prone or being weak or going to DisneyWorld, his response still was not a good thing. NO good could come from it. OTOH, as we are seeing, he has ticked off a lot of folks.

"Concerned" is the wrong word; "insulted" is the right word. Whether he meant it or not, he came across as a pampered, spoiled, inconsiderate, egotistical, pompous A$$. And of course, no matter what career field you're in, it's never wise to insult and/or belittle your customers.
-
I really can't believe that anyone is "OK" with Watkin's insulting, albeit, confusing instagram post. I'd say that he needs to get a social media handler stat, to keep him from digging himself any deeper into the hole.

IMHO, yes it is. The good news is now I have my Sundays back to enjoy doing such things as bicycling, motorcycling, hiking, going to the beach, etc.

So would you say the season is over now? Before Halloween?
John in Jax replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, as I noted two weeks ago, they will be lucky to go 8-8. -

Like I said two weeks ago, and again last week, they will be lucky if they can go 8-8. -
This is a little off topic, but did anyone see the one Stealer TD yesterday where the WR goes up high in the back of the endzone to make the catch, and clearly only comes down with ONE foot in bounds (the other one is up in the air), then his butt comes down, again, clearly, with half of it in the green and half of it on the white OB? I commented about this yesterday in the Shout Box too. This "highlight" has been playing on ESPN all day today, and I can't believe that no one is questioning it. After reviewing it closely on DVR, it looks like MAYBE his left leg's knee (same leg with foot that came down IB) hit the ground before his butt did, but because of his position (falling backwards onto his butt) the physics of that make it virtually impossible. It should not have been a TD. Oh, and then there's the "no catch" in the Lions/Bears game by the Lions. Bottom line is that the Refs/NFL continue to BLOW calls.

Why didn't Rex challenge "the catch"?
John in Jax replied to USMCBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've sometimes heard announcers say that when the ball hits the ground, the receiver is supposed to have his hands under the ball in order for it to be a good catch. Don't know if the latter is true, but in this case he did not, rather, he had his hands on both sides of the ball. -

Well, I hate to say I told you so, but, I told you so. The defense (vs. Cincy) looks awful today. MAYBE they go 8-8 this year. -
No, he's not racist. And yes, he makes a very valid point about the way young, unproven, "star" QBs are treated coming out of college. EJ doesn't seem to fit in that narrative though, so I'm not sure why he brought him up. End of story.

NFL TV Announce Crews....why so bad?
John in Jax replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
THIS x1000. -
Just by my casual observations of watching a bunch of games this year, it seems like an awful lot of "hometown" fans are selling their tickets to the visiting team's fans. I know that Stealer fans travel well, but my Gawd, did you see that pathetic display by Charger fans last night?
-
Wow, how far have the expectations fallen!? "A great win!?" Really!? Against the Titans!? C'mon man, you can't be serious. This game should not have even been close....well, that's if the Bills were a good team, and serious contenders this year. Unless there's some miraculous turnaround THIS WEEK, and they beat the Bengals, they're not.
-
Whatever you're smoking, I'd like to get some of it! LOL
-
3-2, but still can't get optimistic
John in Jax replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ya think? Plain & simple, they looked like crap the last two weeks, and if they keep it up, they'll be lucky to win 8 games. Yesterday, against the lowly Titans, it should not even been close, even with the injuries. Now, if they somehow turn things around in one week, and manage to beat the Bengals, I will rethink this. We'll see. -
Umm, not really on the HC. The guilty party who pulled down TT definitely got his hand up inside the collar of the shirt, and then pulled him down. OTOH, Bradham clearly grabbed the CENTER of the jersey in the back, and pulled him down by the jersey. Are you watching the games in HD? LOL

IMHO, Collinsworth is the master of the obvious as a color man, and I normally have the sound down on SNF so I don't have to listen to his drivel. Regarding his pick of the Big Cats next week: I would have to agree. ESPECIALLY seeing how the Bills have performed the last two weeks.
