  1. Wilman might have re-signed with NO for a reasonable price, but Jonathan Vilma got a deal averaging ~$7M a year. As for Ray Ray, depends on his contract demands.
  2. Personally, I couldn't care less either way. He'd be a stop-gap given his age and declining production. And that's what's preventing him from getting the big money deals he was expecting.
  3. A lot of teams are interested in Peppers. All they have to do is give-up a 1st rounder and pay Peppers $14+M a year and he's theirs. But Peppers said that if he remains in Carolina, he won't be a distraction. So the Panthers have all the leverage here.
  4. Washington is as good as Sam Aiken as a WR. Meaning he's a ST'er only. Pass.
  5. Coles turned-down $6M from the Jets this year, thinking he could get more on the market. Hence, he's looking for a deal that averages at least $6M a year. The problem is that no one (not the Bills and not the Dols) want to pay that amount for a (now) #2 WR on the downside of his career. The Bills offered him what they felt was a fair contract but Coles expected more and will look at other opportunities.
  6. He wasn't "cut loose." He was an UFA and the Panthers have no cap room thanks to extending LT Jordan Gross and franchising Julius Peppers. They wanted him back badly because he can start and play well at center and guard, and their interior OL has proven to be injury-prone. Oh and Jason Brown, who probably got twice as much as Hangartner did, was a 4th rounder. Jason Peters was an UDFA. Mike Williams was a 1st rounder. Given that he'll be 27 in a couple months, he's the permanent answer until he proves otherwise. I don't see the Bills taking a center high in the draft, but could see a later-round pick (like say a 4th or 5th rounder ). Frankly there's a lot to like about Hangartner. He's smart (47/50 Wonderlic) but nasty and a lockerrrom leader, has good size (315#), seems durable (hasn't missed a game in 4 years), versatile (can play OG or OC and plays on ST's), and in 27 starts he gave up just 4 sacks and 2 penalties. He also received good coaching in Carolina. The only area I don't know is run-blocking, but the Panthers were a pretty good running team last year, when he started 8 games, which says a little something.
  7. Hangartner allowed 1 sack and had no penalties in 15 starts at center for the Panthers in 2006. As for his run blocking, I can't say.
  8. Tell the cheap mofos to buy a new laptop. And tell them never to try and fix one on their own again.
  9. Maybe a 4th rounder on center? And what about LJ Smith at TE? Nothing huge for a contract, though.
  10. I'm happy that center is all set. Now they need a LG, and OLB, and a #2 WR in FA. Then fill-in the holes on the DL and add a TE in the draft.
  11. Re-sign him for a minimum deal? Sure.
  12. I'll still go with what Dockery's agent said.
  13. The article I read from Tim Graham said that GH is 6'5" and 315# and will definitely play center, as this is his preferred position. He's also looking forward to the challenge of facing Wilfork, Jenkins (his former teammate), and Ferguson twice a year.
  14. LOL! They didn't "botch" any of those trades, least of all the Walker trade.
  15. Consider the source.
  16. Considering how bad Dockery is, the Lions ended-up winners.
  17. If the Chefs were offering the 3rd overall and the Patriots didn't want it (and I'm not disputing that the Patriots didn't want it), the Patriots would have asked for the 2nd and several picks. Or a 1st next year.
  18. Bahahahaha! "You know, the 3rd overall makes too much money, so we'll just take the 2nd rounder instead." Yeah, I'm sure that's how it went.
  19. You're right about their drafting prowess of late. Mayo was definitely a hit, but he's been the exception.
  20. I've heard from several Panthers fans that he's a good player. In 27 starts in his career (out of 54 games), he's had just 2 penalties (1 false start and 1 holding) and given-up 4.5 sacks.
  21. I mentioned that in the other thread.
  22. Cassel and Vrabel (who was an all-pro in 2007) for a 2nd rounder? Looks like the Chefs made out on this deal. And while Cassel isn't worth near the $14.65M he'll make this year, the Chefs have the cap room, and if there's no salary cap in 2010, Cassel become a RFA who they can tender at the highest level.
  23. Housh looks like Peerless Price v2.0. He's a decent #2, but he's looking for #1 money. And what's worse is he'll be 32 a few weeks after the season starts. Pass!
