As if being able to run and jump makes you a man. Sure. I couldn't help but

while reading that.

So yeah put my little weak :wallbash: out in the woods competing with some Neanderthal for food. I don't think it's even close. I'm eating everytime.

I agree that modern man is certainly not inferior overall compared to a Neanderthal, but most people would never be able to survive without modern conveniences let alone find their own food. If the electricity went out in this country for a month we would see huge amounts of deaths and people woud be starving. Most people think I am nuts when I talk about preparing for an emergency that would require me to live without a food store, clean tap water, or electricity.

I agree... Still the biggest worry for me would be clean water... Sure one can boil it and make the water potable. One of these is always nice to have on hand though:

Pocket Filter

I got one in the all blacked out, para-military version... You know so when you are out in the field, it doesn't reflect any light!:thumbsup:

I say bring the end on! I can live in a hole in the ground and be happy! Oh wait... I may already do! ;);)

On an interesting historical note and the pioneers that moved west during the western expansion, the Native Americans were perplexed by the pioneers in the northwest. The Native Americans were confused that many of the european settlers would starve in what to the natives was considered a land of plenty that was very much blessed... With salmon everywhere some settlers wouldn't touch the stuff because of the way it looked! :P:wallbash: And this was in the 1800's, go figure!!

maybe its true that we DO end up evolving into Greys eventually?

#1 Gangsta Kitty takes high offense at the term "pussification"

#2 Without arguing the specifics this is only common sense. Animals that have to hunt for their food in very primitive conditions are going to be a lot stronger and well conditioned than modern man who's roughest job to obtain food is going to the local Wegmans. Some people hunt and eat what they kill, but IMO, the vast majority don't need to and most use guns. I don't know of any group that goes out barefoot in packs with only spears to kill their prey. That would be a comical scene with even the above average athlete.

Yes, a gun makes you physically stronger. :wallbash:

Ya... But thrown into the modern world, would Neanderthal humans be smart enough to boil their water... They'd have "beaver fever" before one can say pooh.

That seems to be the Cadilac of filters. I just bought this one for $70.

I have that Katadyn- and it is by far the best on the market. I put together a 59 litre backpack filled with survival gear. I put a lot of research into what I would need- and most of my gear is used by the special forces. If some catastrophe went down and there was no electricity, gas, or water- I think I would thrive

Note to self: Find out where Pete lives and if catastrophe strikes, go there and take his backpack.

Exactly! I have been using mine for almost 15 years... A filter can handle a ton of water... In the 1,000s of gallons... And then the silver element can be cleaned... Yes, expensive... But what? They have been using a PF across the world (UN) for almost 50 years?? You can throw it in a mud puddle and pump clean water... Ya, third world viruses may be a problem, but nothing will get that unless chemically/boiled treated.
