Look, if you think he's going to appeal this decision, this incredible gift from God(ell), your are simply insane. Actually, many sources I've seen this afternoon link him to the Pats* as his most likely landing spot. Vick himself has said he's close to signing with someone. If it is indeed the Pats*, then that does quite clearly explain his "incredible gift from God(ell)" you wrote about--nothing like having friends in the League offices, huh? But, keeping in mind that you could "care less", your even allowing a "big if" regarding an appeal reveals that you don't understand the huge break Vick got and the precariuos position he remains in. Put anther way (again), he will never appeal this and there is absolutely no "logical" reason to allow for even the remote possibility that he would. Being reinstated in the NFL is him being indemnified by the league. He is being given back the opportunity to compete, and win a position on a squad. When a player is drafted, does he automatically win a spot on a team? Could anyone 'normal' Joe, under these same circumstances, be even hired back as janitor had he been partner or something of that nature? None of us would even make it in the door and if attempted, would be escorted out by the police. He's a convicted felon. Why? they already have their "Wildcat" QB in Patrick White I doubt anyone takes a serious run at Vick this season unless they are San Fran or someone who has a serious injury in camp. I think professional Athletes in some sports should be held to Higher standards because they often times become role models for the younger generation. To work at a Nuclear plant the security clearances you have to pass alone will disqualify you if you have a felony record. Priests, Law Enforcement, Military, I could go on and on but the point I'm trying to make is there are different rules depending on ones station in life in my opinion. No, but if you get convicted of a felony and lie to your boss, don't expect your job to be waiting for you when you get back. Guest dog14787 Posted July 31, 2009 Share Posted July 31, 2009 I separate team and organizational sports athletes from Individual Entertainers because a movie actor for instance doesn't downgrade a whole league or organization, they are judged on their individual actions. Parents can monitor what actor or show their children watch. The Football, baseball, and basketball game you take your kids to on the other hand, you expect for the most part to be good, wholesome family entertainment. Schools often require the proper grades to participate in school related sports so even at an early age a higher standard is required and is a big reason sports is important to our younger generation, it helps keep them out of trouble and on the right path. Can Singletary relate, yes he can , but he's a football coach not a shrink and its not up to him to have to take Michael Vick by the hand and protect him from the nasty piranha we call the media. Michael Vick is a man who can stand up for himself and I think he's perfectly content to take any opportunity he can to start in the NFL regardless if the head coach is white or black and to suggest otherwise is ludicrous. ( something a moron might suggest) Left wing animal rights groups and the like are heading Vick's way. Is it moronic to think an agressive visible minority head coach can be a better shield from these left wing groups? It's simple politics man.
