San Jose Bills Fan Posted June 25, 2009 Share Posted June 25, 2009 Excuse me if this has been mentioned in one of the other threads but an interesting part of this issue (selling NFL teams) is that apparently there are or will be a bunch of franchises changing hands in the next few years due to family ownership issues and stadium issues. PFT I think mentions as many as 7 teams changing hands in the near future. The implication (in concert with the bad economy) is that it will be a buyer's market and the cost of buying an NFL team might be relatively cheap. This is encouraging from the standpoint of keeping the Bills in WNY. The team may be more affordable for a white knight group to buy and there would be less pressure to move to a larger market to maximize revenues if the team was bought in a down cycle (cheaply). The problem we have now is that other than ticket paying fans no one wants to make a big commitment to the Bills because they don't even know if the team will be here for long or what the new ownership will be like to deal with. They will stay in Minnesota and the ownership (which just bought the team recently) has no real intent to move the team unless the deal for the new stadium falls through. Anyone dropping $1B on anything (except maybe our government) would do their homework. Having Favre goosing your ticket sales for a season means nothing. PTR perhaps the biggest thing Favre will do is guarantee sellouts and sell lots of jerseys... his play on the field as was seen with the Jets is highly questionable.... I'm sure he could have taught the Green Bay offense he was in for many years, but that didn't stop him from having 4 or 5 crap years in a row before his last big season there...basically the guy has had 1 good year in the last 6, and his prospects for having another season like his 1 good one get smaller and smaller with each passing day he gets older, his reaction times get slower, and his physical abilities get weaker...
