Bills Looking Into Acquiring John Henderson

April 17th, 2009 · No Comments

The Buffalo Bills could now be trying to trade there new fourth round draft pick that they just acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles (121 overall) to the Jacksonville Jaguars for defensive tackle John Henderson, which would reunite Marcus Stroud and Henderson who were a dynamic duo in Jacksonville for several years, several sources tell ProFootballCentral. There are many outlets that are labeling the Bills in need for a tackle, defensive end and tightend and while those three needs are correct, so is the need for a dominate defensive tackle to line up next to Pro Bowler Marcus Stroud. The Bills do have Kyle Williams, Spencer Johnson and former first round draft pick John McCargo all on there roster but as of now, none of them have established themselves as a legitimate starter next to Stroud. Henderson, did have a drop off year last year and may have fell out of favor with head coach Del Rio who is rumored to be looking to go young at the defensive tackle position and has been pondering trading the eight year veteran. One thing that is for sure, is that if the Bills don’t think that Henderson is an intense player then they need to look at this video.

The middle of that D-Line would just collapse into the backfield. Whats nice is that it would also give us the option of rotating Kyle and Spencer in during passing downs. Kyle Williams, the good soldier that he is, does have a knack for creating some disruption when he KNOWS its a passing down. Imagine if we had the luxury of putting him in there fresh on 3rd and 8s?

And the Bills will be cheap and won't extend Henderson when he has a good year :D

I'm blanking. Who was the (long-time) poster who said that about Stroud, and how bringing-in your own alcohol made you a dreg, while getting comped drinks because you're "good for business" was alright?

Henderson and Stroud up the middle would be a very nice combo. He has only missed three games the last two years. last year he missed two games with a sprained knee. The fact that Stroud and him played together in JVille is also a nice side note. They will know each others tendancies. At 30 he still has some good years left. And to use that extra fourth for him. Well then that would make the Peters trade look even better for Blo.Send the fourth and McCargo. Hey he is younger then Henderson, and if Del Rio wants youth here you go. See if Del Rio can motivate McCargo.

Here are Hendersons career stats:

Year Team G Solo Ast Total Sack

2002 JAC 15 45 9 54 6.5

2003 JAC 16 47 11 58 3.5

2004 JAC 16 63 13 76 6.5

2005 JAC 16 53 17 70 3

2006 JAC 16 38 13 51 3.5

2007 JAC 15 28 10 38 2

2008 JAC 14 35 10 45 3

First, John Henderson would be a decent signing, but not worth getting too excited about, if the Jags are willing to part with him for a 4th round draft choice. Secondly, the writer of this post is obviously not a Pro writer, reading his bad grammar. So it appears Skooby has found another secondary source to share with us yet again.

Similar to Stroud last year? I also don't think a 4th alone will get it done. Maybe a 3rd and 5th again, or 2-4th's.
