Just how bad is Buffalo nightlife?

Recommended Posts

Buffalo bar scene and nightlife are fine. Not Vegas, Miami, or LA but few NFL cities are.....Cleveland, Cinci, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Green Bay, etc..... Granted it is not Miami which probably has night life superior to all cities but NYC, but TO lives there so will get enough of it when he wants. The guy grew up in a small city, played college ball in a small town and rates his time in college actually playing basktball as the best time he had.

If he meshes well in Buffalo with his team he will be absolutely fine and maybe have a better time here than any other place. The Bills' can go anywhere in this town and get treated like kings and with respect. There is plenty to do, it is just not NYC. People need to get over the inferiority complex. We do have great natural wonders/lakes/Falls etc.... Great wineries, proximity to Canada. There is a reason that players like it here and move back here...Kelly, Thurman, Ruben, Moulds, Tasker etc....

They do probably wish we had a professional baseball or basketball team but because we don't they are the class A celebs around here.

If you are Willis and want to just stay in your apt in Orchard Park and hang out there then it will be boring. But if you want to go out to Chippewa, go to the Falls, casinos, wineries, great restaurants etc...you can find plenty to do. How many shots of the Falls and the jet boats are there on VH1 when they film? Over/under 5??

And the novelty of it wears off quickly. How many times are you going to visit an aquarium? Probably as many times as you visit a Bass Pro.

Don't know if you've ever been there or not, but I can tell you there's much more to do than go to the aquarium repeatedly. Not sure what I'd even do on Buffalo's "waterfront."

My friends always loved coming to Buffalo because of the nightlife......And, it's gotten better since my heyday - Chippewa, especially.........How many places in the country have a 4AM quitting time? Not many.

I guess my friends are also not superstar athletes, so it may be different, and yeah, it isn't Vegas, NYC, etc. in terms of high end stuff.

But, if you aren't a superstar athlete, I bet there aren't ten better party cities in the whole country. I'll tell you one that has a reputation for being one and is absolutely inferior to Buffalo and that is Boston. It always seemed to me that every time I felt like the party was getting started there, they were telling me it was quitting time!

Where is this notion that TO is some big party animal coming from? I don't recall ever seeing him light up the tabloids in San Fran, Philly or Big D.

exactly...WNY'ers get so wound up about personal city pride they start making dreaming up scenarios and worrying about things a player may not even be interested in

TO is NOT a huge party animal. He is seen at "events" like ESPY's etc....but overall during the season the guy is about business. So this will be a very good venue for him. He wants to go where he is wanted.

Okay, let's shift the discussion back to night life from murder rates. How's the club scene in Niagara Falls ON? Anything qualify as a night club there?

I'm not sure...by the time you find a parking spot amidst the 5 or 6 thousand people all over the streets and sidewalks, you almost want to just go back home....just pray you don't miss where you are going otherwise, it will be about an hour before you get back there by driving around the block...IMHO the Clifton Hills section in Niagara Falls, ON is one the most fun places I have been to, and everytime we take out of town visitors there they can't believe it...guess it helps that one of 7 wonders of the natural world is about 2 blocks away, but hey...I'm sure Baltimore has lots of things hat can compete with that like a few buildings and ships and stuff...just happens that 16 million more people a year and growing every year, are interested in seeing what Niagara Falls has to offer rather than Baltimore...

as that one Yahoo Basketball writer always says "Ball Don't Lie"...

Yeah really how many times can you go by the "Grassy Nole" before it gets old. Or the TransAmerica building. Or the Rocky statue at the Museum? Like the other cities he's played in are all that great either.

I've been to... 26 states in 27 years...

There's good and bad in every major city for "nightlifes"

Im in Utah at the moment....they have a membership law that dates back to prohibition days and you cant have more than 1.5 ounces of booze, in front of you at a time....which means no doubles....and the draft beer is 3.2 %...

All I gotta say is this...if you get paid "Millions"-like Ko Simpson....and you want a Night filled with knocking up 10-to-15 women in your life and get caught being a wannabe drug smuggler like Good Ol' Travis Herny...then play for the UFL....they have a team in Vegas that is looking for players...

To the players, Shut up....play football & plan trips to Vegas...Toronto...Cabo...and get wasted like the rest of us!

Buffalo's nightlife is fine and there are plenty of places to go close by like the Casino in Niagara or Toronto if you want to change it up too. I don't even think TO drinks or parties much. When he was here in San Francisco, I never head of him doing anything. I think he may welcome a quieter scene for a change.

But if Terrell only has a few hours to grab a vodka martini, are there any half-way cool night clubs in Buffalo? Even just one? No place with disco lights and DJ's? Jim Kelly had no trouble partying in Buffalo but I think his Western PA upbringing made him comfortable with shots, beers and wings.

Is TO really known to be that big of a partier that it would be that large of an issue? I've been out in cities such as Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Nashville and none of them struck me as being that much more exciting than Buffalo. I'll give you that its not Miami or NYC, but there is a pretty nice bar district and they would have celebrity status out downtown.

I guess this place is new - the google street view still shows McMonkeez at this address...lmao.

Yeah...Pure just opened up a week ago tonight, actually....Google Street view is pretty out-of-date though...they don't even show Bayou there and it's been open for over a year now
