ELEVEN AND A HALF. Eleven and a half is the ammount of sacks that our D Line of Schobel, Stroud, Kelsay, Denney and Williams gathered this year.

TEN. Ten is the number of players in the NFL that had the same or more sacks single handidly than the WHOLE entire Bills D Line including Schobel. TEN.

FOUR. Four is the number of sacks that the entire Buffalo Bills defense beat Demarcus Ware in this year on sacks. A whole team got FOUR more sacks than one guy.

THREE. Three is the number of teams that DOUBLED our sack total.

THREE. Three is the number of teams that we beat in sacks this year... JUST THREE.

interesting note about this fact: Buffalo's D allowed less points than Dallas' (342-365). You'd think that with such a dominating defensive effort by one player, that their defense would be better than Buffalo's in regards to points allowed...

It's always so easy to dismiss another, isn't it, rather than to add something to a discussion?

Almost all topics discussed here are known, in large degree, by many others yet discussions do ensue. Sure we all know that our defensive line was truly offensive in it's inability to rush the passer, yet the tidbits brought up truly underscored how bad they were. My only disagreement with the original post was that Schobel missed more games than he played and that hurt the Bills heavily. His numbers were weak when he went down, but he was still our best pass rusher and was sorely missed.

Another words, like I said, we all already know......

We have no pass rush. It's yet another way to state the obvious.

I think a ROOKIE Defensive End is the the key to a rapid turnaround in our sack totals. Typically, a rookie Defensive End( believe it or not the 2nd or 3rd best DE in a draft class is the one who steps right in and performs) can make a huge impact his 1st year. Greater production can be expected when the top end of the draft class is mostly OLB/DE tweeners that are better suited for the 3-4 alignment. We are so in luck this year!!!!!

1) keep ir real. Schobel essentially played in 4 full games and a small part of the 5th. So, lay off his ass.

2) No schitt... like no one realizes that the Bills couldn't get to the QB this year.

Everyone thinks by going out and drafting a DE this year, that's gonna make a difference. It aint...

Get real. No NFL team generates 50 sacks a season utilizing their front four. They bring the kitchen sink. LBs and DBs.

3 of the top 4 sackers in the league were OLBs . Everyone seems to want to point at the Bills DEs and totally ignoring the Bills below average linebacking. Denney and Mitchell led the Bills with 4 sacks each. Denney started only 11 games and Mitchell's sacks came up the middle. Stroud and his $4M salary managed a pathetic 2 sacks. Poz and Ellison got zero, ... but everyone wants to put all the blame on Kelsay... and he had the same number of sacks as Stroud.... and nobody's calling out Stroud, Poz, or Ellison.

Stroud is barely above average... that's it. Bills need somene along side him that's better than him. Plus, Poz would better be served as a backup... stacked up to the elite MLB's around the league he doesn't measure up very well. Bring in Dansby. Ellison is a journeyman backup. Bills should let his ass go, resign Crowell, and draft Cushing. The secondary needs an enforcer at Safety.... unfortumately there's nothing out there... unless Donavin Darius has anything left.

Alas... no matter who the team brings in... and they could bring in 7 superstars and it would not matter, the HC is Jauron. Jauron = zero. You need creativity to generate a pass rush. Anyone believe that Jauron has any of that?

Yeah, I know Schobel played in 4 full and 5 total. So? He got ONE freaking sack in 18 QTRs. Schobel is not what or who he used to be. I like him and I think that Schobel is underrated against the run and overrated against the pass. But, Schobel is not and has not been earing his paycheck. Also, I think Curry with our 1st would be the best way to go to improve our pass rush through a rookie.
