BeastMode54 Posted October 16, 2008 Share Posted October 16, 2008 This just upsets me to no end. The FO was really trying to get this done. I think that move would have made us serious front-runners. With the uncapped year coming in the near future it will be VERY tough to land top free agents. We needed this BAD. That being said, the Chiefs GM was asking for a second, so maybe a deal wouldn't have gotten done afterall. Either way, I'm really pissed about it and can't seem to get over it. Lee Evans would have been freed from double teams. The offense would have had TG, Evans, Lynch, Roscoe, Reed, Hardy, and Edwards. Unbelievable. I hope we kick the living crap out them when we play them, and I hope his non-acquisition makes no difference (unfortunately, I think it would have been a HUGE deal). We need to thrash the Chiefs when we go to Arrowhead in a couple weeks. I mean, how many playoff games have the Chiefs won since Gonzo has been there? He wanted to play for the defending Super Bowl champs, a team that won the big one last year WITHOUT him. Think about how much it would have sucked if we got TG for a 3rd and John McCargo and then after the parade welcoming Gonzalez to town and all the new jersey buying, the trade got canceled because McCargo failed his physical!!! ganesh Posted October 16, 2008 Share Posted October 16, 2008 i had a feeling he was too metro / glamourish for buffalo. he wants the attention. tv time, radio time, jersey sales. buffalo is not the place for your star to shine the brightest. green bay gets way more media even though that is also a small market. tony g is an aging TE with declining production and is overpaid. i didnt want him, i wanted TJ Sure.....That is why the likes of Jim Kelly, THurman THomas, Bruce Smith, Andre Reed repeatedly re-signed with the Bills.... It has nothing to do with Buffalo being a small market...The Bills in Tony's opinion were just not good enough to be a strong SB contender. The bottom line is in Tony Gonzalez's opinion he did not think the Bills were a Super Bowl bound team. He wanted to play for a team that had a chance to win the super bowl. In respect of that the only team that matched to his need was the Giants being the defending super bowl champion. How many people on this board think the Bills are a legitimate Super Bowl contender. I think the Bills will likely have a pretty good shot at the playoffs and may even win a playoff game, if they host it. But this team is not yet ready for the SB, they just have too many holes. Let us respect Tony's wishes. I would have loved to see him a Bills uniform, but if you take a hard gut check, you would have done the same thing... I hope we all breathe a sigh of relief that the turdburglar decided BEFORE he got here that he hated it, though, am I right? *cough*McGayhee*cough* I hope he likes where he's at. And I also hope the Bills take this snub as a way to motivate them to play better than they have so far, because they don't stand a chance in the Playoffs with such a poor pass rush and O-Line push. The Dean Posted October 16, 2008 Share Posted October 16, 2008 I was passing by a TV earlier today and on NFL Live (I think), it was suggested that Gonzo wanted to go to Green Bay, because they play on natural grass (like KC). Not sure if they even mentioned the Giants, as I only had about 30 seconds or so, to watch. Just throwing that out there. If anyone saw that segment, maybe they can expand on it.
