it was one of the greatest speeches I've heard. Reminds you of the greatness of this country and why it is great. Probably wrong forum, but I don't blame you for not wanting to go to the politics forum which I haven't ventured into for almost 4 years and a different id name ago.

no disrespect but anyone that thinks that these politicians really care i feel sorry 4 u. just my opinion...

So you're going to vote for a Dem? Cuz they're so much better.

I'm voting for the young buck because angry old people are a dime a dozen. And we already elected a stupid hick (twice) who are also a dime a dozen. Dime a dozen guys aren't the answer, and neither are 72-year old career Washington insiders whose claim to fame is getting shot down in an airplane.

A young, fresh, black man has NEVER failed as El Presidente de Los Estados Unidos. Plenty of crotchety old white men have been bad presidents.

I would prefer if the spokesperson of my country could actually carry respect in today's global marketplace. It's been 8 years since that has happened. Obama has my respect and he seems to have the respect of the leaders and people of the world. McCain? I respect his military and public service, but his Republican nomination seems like he has outlasted them with failed presidential bids in the past, to where they said, "Ok, let's give it to this old guy, I can't really think of anyone else..."

The headline in the London Times the day after the election in 2004: "How could 62 million people be so stupid?" Well, you'll have to answer that for yourselves, people.

Short of invading Canada, it would be hard for them to be worse.

Dude, you're from WNY and you think democrats are good? Hell, the only reason I became a Republican when I was old enough to vote is because democrat-led politicians destroyed cities like Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse.

On another note, I'm sick of the media telling me how bad America has become over the past eight years because it's still the greatest place in the world to live in.

What other countries have you lived in that form the basis of your opinion? Just curious.

Yes, as if the London Times gives a damn about the USA.

Do you actually think those things are true, or are you just trying to piss people off (trolling)?

Actually, they are true. Obama was schooled in a Muslim school as a boy, and he did not put his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance. There are pictures to this effect. And trust me, I'm no friend of John McCain either.

If anyone here wanted real change for America it was Ron Paul. Obama isn't change, he's just a change of degree: more socialism and more taxes. Ron Paul would have shook up the establishment. If people thought we really needed change he was the guy as he wanted to abolish departments including income tax, and bring our troops back home. Paul wanted a new foreign policy, go back to sound money and stop inflation, and promote true free trade without managed trade from protected countries.

That was real change. Obama will give us a different degree than what we have now. Sadly, it will help destroy this country faster economically than people realize. He will increase the national debt, by his own numbers, worse than Bush.

Everything is all about power and control... And yes, I will make it a class struggle... And that is why I side left/radical.

I think what you are trying to say is left/activist. Radical is all about how far from center you are...Facists are as radical as socialists.

Activism is a scary thing. Great short term fixes that can cause a lot of damage in the long term. Activist look at the constitution with an eye on interpreting it; changing it. When Obama said he wanted to go through the budget line by line and take out what doesn't work and fix what does, he has to do that because people many years ago decided to be activist and change the fundamental purpose of government. By implementing social policy that was beneficial to people at a particular time (the great depression) a precedent was set and followed. The American dream is about working hard when given an opportunity. During the Great Depression the opportunity was lacking, so the government provided opportunity, as did the Germans and ultimately the Japanese. However, when opportunity returned the government did not stop providing assistance, which eventually allowed people to become dependent on the government, not a good thing. Providing tax cuts to companies that keep jobs in America will help provide American's the opportunity without the government handing anything out. Companies will break even(tax breaks will offset the amount companies save through outsourcing) and with more people working the government can afford to give tax breaks to the middle class while still getting as much in taxes from the middle class. The government is essentially investing in the country. Yes it will seem like the government is spending more in the short run, but what is really happening is they are growing the pool of potential investors (we pay taxes so when the government invests that money, we are actually the investors). I would so much rather have Oboma being the "CEO" and in charge of my investments than someone who is going to allow corrupt corporations who are not interested in public policy controlling my American Dream.

McCain, more of the same....blah blah blah. Running on the platform of "Vote for me, 'cause I'm not the other guy" is meaningless to me. Same old same old. Dems can claim they are totally different and promise the world. They come up with a few catchy slogans, have a family reunion on stage, and that's supposed to translate into a good president? It makes no difference. Obama hasn't done one thing that is noteworthy, and has no credentials beyond being a good bullsh*tter and telling people what they want to hear. I don't trust the guy, and am convinced he will say ANYTHING to get votes, and doesn't have any opinions of his own. As far as i can tell there is no substance to all his promises. The devil is in the details, and I have yet to hear one detail that makes any sense. Most of his promises sound empty and unrealistic to me, and pretty much impossible to accomplish without creating a socialist society. If I wanted 70% income tax and a country where there is no motivation or reward for hard work, I would move to Sweden, live off the Gov't, and be mediocre.

Honestly, I don't know that it matters who gets elected. Nothing in Washington EVER changes. It is and will continue to be the same old krap. I don't know much about Mccain, but I vote for him because "he's not the other guy". I vote for McCain because my taxes will go up if Obama wins. I vote for McCain becuase I don't believe in or trust the Obama hype that the Dems have used to make him seem larger than life with smoke and mirrors. It is all hype.

posts like this show everybody why you are one of the best posters on this board. I may not always agree with you, but you know how to lay out your arguement & bring it home. & I am not being a wiseass either, I really think your one of the best posters on this board.

BTW, I am voting for Obama also. The Republicans & Bush have had their chance for the last 8 years. Time for a change.
