Sean apologists... If McD gets fired without ever winning a Super Bowl, you will...

  1. 1. What will Sean applogists do when he is fired from Buffalo without ever winning a SB?

    • Finally eat crow and understand he wasted the career of the Greatest Bill of All Time with his weak defense, bad gameplans, and major in-game mistakes
    • Be just as bummed as everyone, but think it wasnt his fault and he just needed a couple more lucky breaks and he couldve done it
    • I'm happy with our handful of Division championships and nothing else to show from finally hitting the lottery on a Franchise QB and Greatest Bill of All Time

Depends on how you define "perennial contender".

I agree with @MJS and others that he'd be hired right away, and could elevate a bottom-dweller. He wouldve been perfect in Carolina the last couple of years. Weakish division. They'd be in the hunt and favored to take that Division every year, therefore a perennial contender.

But that doesnt change anything here, and isnt even relevant to our situation and conversation.

McD pretty much admits it himself. The signs all over OBD say "Playoff Caliber". He's never changed them to "Championship Caliber" when that is the current goal.

I think Bill’s problem is he couldn’t envision a world where he couldn’t be coach and gm.  Very likely would’ve been scooped up again otherwise

Tomlin will get scooped up very fast if he leaves also imo.  With that anonymous report that a veteran hc is lookin for a change of scenery and staring at their first below .500 season in awhile I think that’s probably Tomlin wanting to go to NYG

I guess when I see "perennial contender" I think of a team that has a reasonable chance to compete for a Super Bowl.

That was not the 2017 Bills. That was not the 2021 Patriots. That was not the 2019-2025 Steelers.

The window for perennial contender is opened by a QB, not a head coach. Which is why despite McD/Tomlin and the greatest coach of all time, those teams weren't serious.

The reason the Bills have a reasonable chance to compete for a Super Bowl, every year, since 2020, is because of the guy wearing 17.

Give McD Mac Jones and semi-retired Cam Newton, and he can make some 8-9 win magic and get blown out in the WC round every once in a while for sure. Woo hoo.

Yeah I dont disagree with any of this either.

Since every single bad play or game is Sean's fault, would it be fair to say that when we win a game like yesterday's where the defense dominated an average offense, it is fair to give him credit?

Nope, it's just a bad team.

They have a superior HC still, though, obviously.
