They had averaged 25 at home.......got held to 23.   

 

The big tactical defensive error for the Bills was not just playing press man and tackling the receivers at the snap with 9 seconds left in the half.

 

Inexcusable.........especially given that they had been given time to think about it after that dumba$$ Ersery cost the Texans a 10 second run off and gave the Bills time to strategize.

 

That and the missed extra point was the margin of victory needed.......5 points.

 

Otherwise the Texans didn't get much done offensively.

The Texans having 20 points at half was their highest point total at half at home all season. They hadn’t scored more than 12 at half at home all year.

 

Allowing those all too familiar “inexcusable” errors to let their GREAT defense tee off on Josh for the entire second half is the entire point.

 

If you told me the worst possible way that game could go, that would be it.

And they turned the ball over twice in their own territory, effectively gifting the Houston offense 6 points.

 

And yet Allen still had the ball with a chance to win the game at the end.    Just like the last 2 KC playoff losses.

We can be disappointed that Rousseau hasn't risen up to carry the defense like Allen does with the offense but aside from him nobody else on the Bills does that either.   The team lacks elite talent at premium positions but Rousseau is not paid like an elite player.  Not even close.

 

Theyre disappointing on a lot of fronts in the defense but you can have a stud corner and plays can still be made. One dominant guy on the line can help the rest of his positional group out as well as the back end… 

 

I’d take a quality edge player or DT and average to mediocre DB’s than I would a stud CB if Benford fit that bill. 
 

That’s not to say they wouldn’t make a difference but rather, again, a game wrecker up front makes a bigger difference. 
 

Also to boot, you’re absolutely right that Benford is inexcusable as much as Rousseau in terms of $ to product. 
I like Ed and think he’s a vital missing piece to our problems, the guy can’t be paid that much and be missing to injury or a disappearing act. 
 

Big problems all around for big $. Hopefully they can get back to what earned them those contracts.

Wouldn’t it be nice to maybe have our defense force a TO or 2 in Houston’s territory?

 

Just a bridge too far to ask the defense to meaningfully impact the game on a day the offense is struggling against the best defense in football.

It's crazy that people are completely ignoring that the Texans basically decided to stop throwing the ball in the second half because they had the lead and their defense was dominating

 

You're fooling yourself if you think the Bills did anything in the second half to stifle Houston.
