Mr. Wonderful Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago His favorite term was "resilience" when broadcasting Bills games. Anyone else remember him saying that? 1 Quote
Olliemets Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I was at NBC for 35 Years and I remember as a young guy in the 80s sitting in Meetings with Teddy Nathanson, the over EP for Football When NBC had the AFC Package. They' be divvying up the tech requirements for the "A", "B" and "C" games 2 to 4 weeks hence. Trump and Criqui were the B or C game usually and he'd be tossing the options around of which game they did. I met Trumpy a few times, a good guy who made the transition from player to TV pretty well. It's harder than it looks. A lot of these guys tried and flamed out early. Rest easy 3 1 1 Quote
Livinginthepast Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Another broadcast legend from my youth dead. Joining Cosell, Meredith, Gifford, Madden, Summeral, Endberg, Olsen, Charlie Jones and the great Van Miller. Lots of great memories from Trumpy, some classic games and some memorable Bills ones. davefan66 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) RIP. He was awesome back in the day when announcers were allowed to provide true commentary. Not the watered down, don’t tick off rhe NFL we have now. Look at what Romo has become from when he started. Would call plays before they were run, educated the fans. Now, just another mouthpiece for the league. Edited 7 hours ago by davefan66 1 1 Quote
Mark Vader Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Very sad to hear this. He was a good and fun commentator to listen to, whether he was paired with Don Criqui or Dick Enberg. RIP, Sir. 1 Quote

Probably one of my favorite announcers. Also a broadcasting pro - he did every sport I always loved him. I thought he was a great announcer. If I had to describe him and the other great ones in one word it would be fluid. I guess that has a different meaning these days but they just have a flow to what they said where it didn't feel forced or like they were just talking for the sake of it. Their voices perfectly synched with what was happening, and they even made the bad games watchable because they knew how to keep things interesting. al Michaels was great at that. I used to watch all the MNF games even if they were blowouts because I just loved hearing how he described what was going on. Madden was the same for me, although I was never a huge fan of Summerall. But when I see old clips of those thanksgiving games with Madden talking, to me that is football. Or clips of the AFC championship game intros with endberg talking to merlin Olsen, same thing. I miss that stuff the way I miss the old stadiums So many of the announcers now sound like they're TRYING too hard, but maybe that's my age and the kids now will one day be talking about how good Chris Brown was the way we talk about Van Miller...
