No Donnie Freeman tonight.  That sucks.

You usually pretty plugged in on what's going on

Is it a re-injury of his last year injury? Any idea how bad

I haven't really heard anything but saw some buzz he may be out two weeks.

Hey, guy who’s too busy checking in. I haven’t had a chance to watch any games yet, or do much more than read the headlines. For those who have been watching, how do they look? How optimistic or pessimistic are you?

Best team they've had in years

sorry if this was posted up thread already, I saw something about how he was in a boot (on his right leg)?

I was a little annoyed by Sampson’s post-game comments on the court. The gist of it was he felt Houston played poorly. I think he did say Syracuse played “hard,” but you would think he might tip his cap a little more.

Cant believe we didnt get a shot off at the end of regulation! Some bad calls went against us too, the review not being overturned and the foul that should have been a travel.

First game I saw this year, first impressions are this team is infinitely better than last year. Defense and rebounding effort is night and day.

All that said, hard to say you deserve a win when free throw shooting is that bad in a game that went to OT. I am however much more hopeful this season than I was before!

I thought the announcers made it seem he wouldn't be out too long

Well, great “moral victory.” I felt Kyle got fouled on the last shot, but whatever.

Was def fouled

Disappointing loss. Chance to win on the last shot in a game a lot of people didn't expect them to be able to compete in especially without their top scorer.

Hardest part for me is losing the game by 4 while missing 17 free throws. 🤢

Hopefully they can get that cleaned up and take it to Kansas this afternoon.

Issue with the FT shooting is Kyle looks like he legitimately has never shot a basketball before. The fact that he's floating around 50% from the line feels like a miracle. JJ seems to have the yips; always a chance he snaps out of it and remembers how to shoot but I'll believe it when I see it. So that's two guys likely to have a decent number of free throws that will be lucky to hit 50%.

Kiyan will almost certainly improve though; he's been a low 70s guy his entire life. Would be weird if he's suddenly an atrocious free throw shooter.

But the only way I really see us turning into a good free throw shooting team is if guys like Kyle and JJ become so scared of shooting free throws that they just stop shooting the ball and risking getting fouled and that's obviously an even bigger problem.

We really just have to hope we play well enough that the free throw shooting doesn't matter as much. Definitely prefer this over the Buddy Boeheim years though where we could hit free throws but couldn't defend to save our lives.

So true. His free throw motion looks crazy. I was shocked his first two in went in and I can't recall if he made another all night after that.

Against all odds, he went 4/9, as did Kiyan.

I can live with Kyle. JJ is inexcusable. It looks like a bad parody when he shoots at the FT line now.
