They were not the physical destruction of the building because he had respect for the history of the building. Trump doesn’t understand the concept of respect.

Are you still emotional about the destruction of this historic building at the furthest reaches of the White House? What historic events took place there? Here’s one! It really sounds like fiscal irresponsibility was the real issue. Btw, I didn’t think to be upset about that at the time, but can you imagine the history associated with that tennis court? 1

After all, you voted to supercharge the national debt. Edited 4 hours ago by SectionC3 1

yall Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago The fact that a building renovation is a bigger story than an illegal alien with a presumably forged CDL killing 3 Americans is all you need to know. You don't hate them enough. 2

I thought that was funded with private donations too. I would offer that the east wing has significantly more history associated with it than the tennis court. The East Wing is just with the First Ladies work area. I need to remember in this new age of Trumpism male dominance is in, and the history of Nancy, Barbara, Hillary, Laura, Michelle, Melania, and Jill can be forgotten.
Wacka Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) The east wing was built in the 40's by FDR.Such a "long" history. If they wanted bigger events than could fit in the State Dining Room (which is pretty small-I saw it on the tour) they would have it in tents outside which would be subject to the wind, weather, and temperature. The grassy area they had it on would turn swampy after rains, Remember DC was real swamps before the Revolution, not named after the vermin that inhabit it now. Edited 3 hours ago by Wacka 1

It was your contention that the $376m was well spent on wallpaper and basketball courts, not mine. I was just thinking about the history and tradition associated with the WH tennis courts. It just seemed like a ton of money spent in our house, and that’s before it’s adjusted for inflation. I’d think there was more to it than just the very important basketball court, but I would definitely bet there were some well-connected corporations and individuals with ties to the party in power making a boatload of money on the remodel. I think the latest talking point offered, that current and future First Ladies/Gentlemen have to work on old card tables in an abandoned maintenance room with leaky pipes in the basement of the West Wing is pretty silly, to be honest. I’m not a big fan of Dr Jill’s contributions, but beyond that there’s a place for all. 1
