BigAl2526 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I agree with what most observers would say, that Hoecht is the better player. Ogunjobi will make a contribution mostly because Daquan Jones is hurt and Buffalo needs some experienced bodies on the interior of the line. I'm mainly hoping he can solidify the run defense in the middle of the line a bit. Hoecht is an upgrade to almost any other defensive end on the Bills right now, even Rousseau (the way he's played the last few games. No, he's not Myles Garrett, but he's something of a physical freak for his size, combining both strength and straight line speed. I'm counting on him getting some sacks, pressures, TFLs and quarterback hits. Quote
KOKBILLS Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) I think the biggest problem with Hoecht and Ogunjobi is neither play MLB, S, or CB... Otherwise I don't see how they can't help somewhat... Edited 13 hours ago by KOKBILLS 1 Quote

The Defense needs a shot in the arm. Ed, Milano, Daquon, and several others have been banged up with fairly "normal" week to week injuries (every team has injuries). The bye should help with those. But the team is getting two vet D-line players back from suspension in Larry O and Hoecht. While these guys aren't JAGS they aren't super stars either. What type of impact will these two have? How much of a "shot in the arm" do these guys actually represent? Larry Ogunjobi- He's 31 old but not ancient for a DT (usually they play near a prime level until around age 32/33) but for this season he's not someone whose age should be a concern. He was viewed as a good player by Steelers fans not elite but a quality starter. Known as a good but a bit inconsistent run defender in recent years with the Steelers. His return to the active roster comes at a needed time. With Sanders hurt and the team needing some bodies at DT a decent vet here will help. How much it will help I don't know. Walker and Ed should be the primary DT duo but having Larry Ogunjobi as a solid capable vet rotating in will help them it should also take some snaps away from Daquon who could be in a more early down role. Michael Hoecht- Just turned 28 so a younger in his prime addition to the D-line. Really showed a lot in pre-season and camp. Known to be a super versatile defender who can line up a lot of different places on the defensive front. Known to set the edge well as a former DT in college. But has some pass rush upside with 13.5 sacks his last 3 with the Rams. Rams fans liked him as a high end rotational player who added some wrinkles to the defense. Overall I think he's going to add some needed depth and versatility. What I think he helps most with is getting Bosa less snaps. With Landon Jackson and Solomon being not that great so far the Bills only have 3 really viable DE's with a 4th viable DE to the mix that should allow the Bills to play Bosa less and keep him fresh. Overall I would say that these two represent a chance to help improve the defense not by a massive margin but not by an insignificant one either... On a scale of Vitamin B - Trenbolone Acetate, I'm expecting Deca. Good strength gains, gives some nice cushion the the DL, while not being a complete hardening transformation, I expect some serious results... with a bit of bloat (HOLY COW I PULLED THAT OFF LOL) 1 1 Quote

Won’t move the needle but better than a street free agent coming in hoecht should be a nice addition. Not a game changer but will help with disguising looks and keeping legs fresh on the more important guys with less drop off Ogunjobi is supposed to be a bit of a run specialist isnt he? Thats a welcomed skill set, while not expecting Wilfork results. Hoecht is a guy Im actually excited about. For all my criticism of Coach lately, I am 100% confident that he will get the most out of him as a chess piece. A Lorenzo Alexander lite is what my impression is (dont think he played under McD though). 19 hours ago, BearNorth said: With Miami in meltdown mode, is a draft choice trade for Douglas a possibility. He's grading much higher [6th among CB's] than any of our DB's. Did McBeane miscalculate this? Sounds suspicious. What was his injury he was rehabbing from last year? I'm leaning towards, No, but have not seen him at all. I guess its possible, he did fall of a cliff hard last year, and isnt THAT old. Mehhh. If he can help us and were talking a 6th and 7th rd swap, he could be depth... but again, only if theyre certain last year was health related 1 Quote

Good news is McD seems to be a healthy upgrade when taking over defensive calls, in spot duty only. Give him reigns till end of season and then get him a REAL DC. Quote

They may raise Buffalo's EPO/play a little bit but their juice will run out soon. Laughing at the 2 guys who got caught, while overlooking the other 50% (incredibly conservative) that are putting banned substances in their body year round. Its incredibly naive to look back 10-20 years ago, compare those players to today, and think its nutrition "these guys know WHEN to feed themselves" LOL The demands have exponentially increased for players, theyre putting their body through stresses never seen before. They're just trying not to break down on the side of the road here Quote
