Not sure why they say that's so hard to call. If they are looking down the line and see any kind of movement from the guards before the ball is snapped, it's a false start. Seems pretty simple. The guard's hand was actually up and in the neutral zone before the ball moved.

This is like the Jawaan Taylor situation.  That guy comes out of his stance early on almost every pass play.  Refs know they can't just keep throwing flags over and over and over.  It's embarrassing for the league.  Plus it hurts one of their premier teams/quarterbacks.  So they just stopped calling it completely.  Now you see a bunch of other tackles doing the same thing.

 

The league has let this Tush Push stuff slide for too long now.  So if they suddenly start calling false starts all the time, it's basically an admission they have been screwing up for 2-3 years now, and pretty much let the Eagles win a Super Bowl because of it.  They will just let this season play out, and then it will get banned in the offseason.

Now back to the game. 

One technicality is you can't deliberately aim for the knees. You can fall or collapse to take someone's knees out. A chop block below the knees is the most annoying ***** ass way to block a defender though, especially if the defender is taller.

Yeah, I'm fine with the play as long as refs are serious about calling Offside, lining up in the neutral zone, and false starts. Both offenses running the play and defenses defending the play are breaking the rules consistently. If the refs can't rein in the rule breaking, they'll have to ban the play altogether.

At the least, its public pressure to ban it.  Full disclosure, I love the play, I know many dont!  My gripe is being allowed to false start and line up Offside. Its just too damn much at this point.  Sounds like refs cant ref it, so the only thing left is to ban it.  We learn to run it the exact same way, to negate their advantage.... go to a gimmicky route like OL become LBers, or whatever..... continue to overload the publics servers by making it even more ridiculous LOL

Its kinda easy, you warn him, once hes done it a second time you upgrade it to unsportsmanlike... next one after that you toss him.  Theyve got enough game footage to do it.  Its one thing when its an accident, but when it becomes a players plan and gets this far outta hand... its g2 gooooo

Dont let the Eagles get to a down and distance that allows the play to be called.     Its an effective play.  That said, a lot of plays are effective when you need a yard or less.

The best argument against it is that why is leverage considered dangerous on field goals for the snapper but allowed on the tush push? I think teams will vote against it, it isn't a fun play. The classic QB sneak had a high success rate but it was at least something you could stop.
