jahnyc Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Some thoughts below: 1. I think we need to at least give the coaching staff some credit for the lack of turnovers and relatively low number of penalties so far this season (and, with respect to turnovers, last season as well). Maybe it is mostly from the players, but coaching focus on taking care of the ball must also be a part of it. We do have a well coached team, even if there are things that continue to aggravate us, including clock management, challenges and our bend but not break defense. 2. What happens in terms of the roster when Max, Hoecht and Ogunjobi return to the active roster? Maybe there will be injuries and players going on IR, but if not, who gets released? 3. I think White still has great instincts and is strong in the run game. He had some issues against Miami, but the Bills generally do not have a lot of speed in the defensive backfield. I hope Max can contribute this season because he does have physical traits to be what is currently missing among the DBs. 4. Our mix of receivers on offense is interesting. Maybe the best overall group of TEs in the NFL and Shakir looks great again this season. I know that there is a lot of debate about our WRs, but I do think a WR who can stretch the field would further open things up for the rest of the receiver group. Not going to get one during the season. 5. Good to see James Cook getting more carries on a percentage basis as compared to last season. He looks great, and I assume this is conscious decision from the coaching staff. Unfortunately, Davis has not looked good so far, although it could be because he has not had an opportunity to get in a rhythm. 6. Listening to an interview with Douglas before the game with the Dolphins, it was interesting to hear him say that the Bills "do things the right way" and have an organized system that everyone in the building follows. 7. Nice to see that we are getting some contribution from our draft picks. Surprised about Hawes and disappointed in Jackson. Really thought that Jackson would contribute right away when he was drafted. 8. Shaq Thompson was a pleasant surprise last night against the Dolphins. He contributed, and hopefully that will continue during the season if he can get healthier and stay healthy, particularly if Milano is out for a longer than anticipated period of time. 8 1 Quote

Dorian Williams could end up hearing some footsteps if he continues to have trouble with reads and angles 1 Quote
UBinVA Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Play calling seems a bit off and too conservative IMO. More play action on 1st downs maybe and get Josh out of the pocket more. Penalties have been very low and is great to see. Our schedule is setup great and the Bills just need to win the games they should (most). Josh is playing loose and at ease. Our TE's look real good and not worries about WRs with Josh. Once our D is 100%, we should be good there also. Enjoy the ride boys!! Go Bills 1 Quote

Go Bills I still think with it being early season the Bills are content with running what’s working and letting the games come to them. No need to put too much on tape early, just work the running game and the underneath stuff. Play methodical ball control, control the clock and just calmly put 28-32 on the board every game. 2 4 1 Quote

The lack of turnovers go back 26 games...that was the last time the Bills lost the Turnover battle. Bills position players need a ton of credit too...last time a position player had a turnover was James Cook against the Chiefs. In week 15, 2023. That was 22 games ago. The absurdity of that should not be lost. 2 Quote
