It seems the thinking is something short of accession to NATO (with it's security guarantees) and something more like a European military presence. No one knows exactly what the sentiment of the Ukrainian populace is today, but it seems like there's a strong sentiment toward some significant territorial concessions as long as there is reasonable assurance that Putin will declare victory and leave them alone, at least as far as invasion/bombing goes ... I would expect him to keep meddling on the political/covert front, because the KGB is gonna KGB. Bc the odds of WWIII sky rocket if Ukraine joins NATO No matter what Putin signs the risk of a future Russian incursion anywhere in Ukraine….isnt zero. Especially if Democrats meddle in Ukrainian elections. EU? Fine. NATO? No way.
Big Blitz Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Peace by Christmas. So so sorry it wasn’t “day 1.” Friggin losers. 1
leh-nerd skin-erd Posted August 18 Posted August 18 54 minutes ago, SectionC3 said: My *ss. Barr had the case for about five minutes. He's a political appointee of the guy he declined to prosecute. By contrast, the guy who had it for months and had a team of investigators reached the conclusion that you just can't acknowledge. No exoneration, and legally sufficient evidence of an obstruction crime. And yet Barr wouldn't take it to a grand jury and let the grand jury and the courts decide. There's the painful flaw - even if Barr felt differently, he didn't spend the time with it, and didn't let a trier of fact (eventually) decide. There's nothing to acknowledge other than you see politics afoot when you don't like the result, and purity when you do. I used your standard--professionals with experience dealing with questions of obstruction reviewed the Mueller report in detail, considered the options and made a decision. No obstruction. No need for a grand jury. Time to move on. That you wanted more political theater is understandable, but the issue was resolved and that particular silliness was laid to rest.

You don't know if its ending, Putin is still murdering innocent men, women and children K….. The press waited outside for hours. Then, just after 6PM, Trump broke the silence with a post to Truth Social. And this one was BIG. It was all about to come together. He opened with a full recap of who was in the room: “I had a very good meeting with distinguished guests, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron, of France, President Alexander Stubb, of Finland, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, of Italy, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, of the United Kingdom, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz, President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, in the White House, which ended in a further meeting in the Oval Office.” Then he made something clear. “During the meeting we discussed Security Guarantees for Ukraine, which Guarantees would be provided by the various European Countries, with a coordination with the United States of America.” In other words, there would be no deal without real protections in place. But then he dropped the announcement the world had been waiting for. “At the conclusion of the meetings, I called President Putin, and began the arrangements for a meeting, at a location to be determined, between President Putin and President Zelenskyy.” A direct meeting between the two war-time leaders was now officially in the works...set to take place within two weeks. And if that meeting goes well? “After that meeting takes place, we will have a Trilat, which would be the two Presidents, plus myself. Again, this was a very good, early step for a War that has been going on for almost four years.” Plans are already moving behind the scenes. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are leading the coordination effort. “Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, are coordinating with Russia and Ukraine. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” 1
B-Man Posted August 19 Author Posted August 19 The amount of people twisting themselves into knots to oppose a deal getting done just because "TRUMP BAD" should be a litmus test for those who are either too stupid, too broken, or too brainwashed to be taken seriously. Ever. Take a lap through the MSM, podcast, socials, or print media and you'll see a dozen examples in minutes.

Coffeesforclosers Posted August 19 Posted August 19 You'd think it be easy to force Russian concessions somewhere. Like say, the middle east, where Russia's whole geopolitical strategy is collapsing. Where's some good old fashioned America First hardball where they can have Donbas so long as they serve up the Tartus naval base or hang the Iranians out to dry? Or agree to withdraw from and destroy all the Wagner bases in Africa? You know, something tangible for all us hard headed realists besides "Stop the killing!" Which is the same crap line we threw out when we were playing World Cop in the 90s (But only for the Balkans and Somalia, and not Rwanda). 1 1

I would expect him to keep meddling on the political/covert front, because the KGB is gonna KGB. Oh, well I’m definitely a pragmatist and not an idealist. But perhaps I don’t fully understand the facets of this topic because I don’t understand why certain bargaining chips have been removed from the bargaining table. We need to find diplomatic off-ramps for both Putin and Zelenskyy, and so the more options the merrier. Why are war reparations off the table? How is Ukraine otherwise going to rebuild? A failed economic and political state over there would only be a breeding ground for additional international headaches. Why is NATO membership off the table? Finland and Sweden were allowed to join. We’re still going to agree to defend Ukraine in some way, anyway, after the war. It’s not like we have to position our nuclear missiles along Ukraine’s borders if they are allowed to join. Have we completely exhausted our options with multilateral economic sanctions on Russia?? 21 hours ago, AlBUNDY4TDS said: If Isreal commits genocide, what does Palestine do? Trump_is_Mentally_fit Posted August 19 Posted August 19 And the bombing continues. Putin sure seems like he is in a peaceful mood Quote Russia launched a wave of missile and drone attacks against Ukrainian cities on Aug. 19, hours after President Volodymyr Zelensky concluded peace talks with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. Explosions were reported in the city of Kremenchuk as Russia launched ballistic missiles struck the country's central region. Multiple ballistic missiles and dozens of drones were reportedly used in the attack. Energy's infrastructure likely served as the target of the attack, local media reported. https://kyivindependent.com/explosions-reported-in-kremenchuk-amid-russian-drone-missile-attack-on-ukraine/
