1. The Bills should have been better than that play call

2. The game should have never come down to that

3. It hardly explains prolonged postseason success that we haven't been able to achieve.

The playcalls worked, they literally got the first down on both 3rd down and 4th down and got hosed on the spots by the refs both downs.  They don't need to be better than their playcalls if their playcalls are getting the necessary yardage.

I will be sure to add "we should have won" to Injuries, Chiefs, and it's just really hard.

They were shorting us on spots all night, it is what it is.  They're a dynasty team, they're difficult to dominate and they very rarely lose.  On playcalls specifically, it's hard to fault the Bills' coaching when they were, in fact, getting the yardage they needed, despite officiating judgements spotting them consistently 0.5-1 yard short of their actual spots all game.  It happened very obviously on several James Cook runs, where he was still well past the first down but not given his full yardage.  Those little amounts add up.

To be clear, this isn't a statement of intent on anyone's part, it's simply an observation of the trend of spots throughout the night.  For whatever reason, the Bills were not being awarded quite their full yardage on a consistent basis.

You're playing the defending SB champions at home who have historically got the calls, who have already stopped you once on a QB sneak, who were seemingly getting the better spots all night. That is why you don't run a play like we ran. You give Allen a run pass option like we did in the regular season vs KC when Allen had his MVP moment. We just played scared. That's who we are in those moments.

They didn't play scared, they went with the high-percentage play and got the yardage.  They made the right call.  Not every decision that doesn't yield the ultimate outcome you want is "playing scared".

I don't play in this gray abyss you call home.

Life is a gray abyss of probability, fam.  The need for the illusion of control to try to assuage our own anxieties is understandable, but ultimately unproductive.

Things that Vince Lombardi never said for $100.

Playing scared would be abandoning the QB sneak, which was automatic all year, because it was stopped once.  We run any other play and get stopped and all offseason people will be screaming about not running the QB tush push and how thats a fireable offense for both Brady and McD.

Which is why we ran the sneak.

Everybody on earth knew it was coming too. There is never anything in the playcalling on either side of the ball that's remotely aggressive.

They said strength on strength. But it’s not like we haven’t seen that play blow up in our face in high leverage situations. Titans game a few years ago and the Vikings OT loss. Josh is just better when he has to think for a split second vs thinking go, go, go right from the snap. We should have got the hint with the stop earlier and barely converting.

I recall so many situations where teams like us will take the next step by going for the throat in that spot. We won’t win many of these games trying to survive like we did vs Baltimore. That’s how we play these close games in the playoffs towards the end.

It's not the b2b sneak calls for me; it's putting your linemen at an incremental disadvantage due to ZERO adjustment or alteration. EVERY human on the football-watching planet knew what play was coming and where it was going. Sure seems like the D has the snap-count/cadence dialed in, too.

You have to adjust to realities on the field. The Chiefs were cheating to the Bills situational tendencies in ways Brady and Allen didn't effectively exploit when it mattered most.

So this lasted less than a week lol.  When you hate a coach that much, you can't fake it too long.

Emotional. I will admit, I have hated on this regime at times, mostly frustrated

from a lack of playoff success. But it’s emotional to see these guys. Great guys, love the game, so easy to like. Proud of them and what we have built.

I wouldn't say hated. I think most Bills fans give credit to McDermott and Beane for changing the culture of the organization from a loser to a winner. But it is frustrating to see these playoff losses happen year after year despite having one of the best QBs in the game. They have both been here 9 years now so it is fair to question if the Bills will ever win a championship with this HC/GM.

To most but this Mikie guy absolutely despises and hates him.

You're so out of the loop with how this actually is. No hate here, still proud of the team. Still hopeful for the season. Still want to see this regime win a Super Bowl. Still feel everything else I said the other day. Life's challenges and thoughts don't fit in neat little boxes.

Yes, I'm lying to myself about my emotions, about my teams head football coach. I don't have energy in my life to hate somebody I don't know and will never meet. I enjoy debating and I strongly disagree with your takes and others out here. Which means literally nothing for how I feel about Sean freaking McDermott. It's better for people like yourself to simplify this topic into such basic things to dismiss the validity of the opinion. Happy to come back to this thread in a few years and we can see whose opinions were more valid.

I can see both sides.

I see and read the frustration with not winning our way into a super bowl. not once yet with Josh Allen at the helm

I realize people think that our time with Josh Allen is finite and want to take advantage Now NOW

we all WANT it now. Let not lose sight of All of Ours diehard fandom in this place. Let's not get THAT twisted

MIKIE is a great guy and he wants this Lombardi as much as anyone.

I'm trying to be Switzerland because the why's and hows to actually win a Lombardi  encompass so many MANY variables

just a few off the top of my head

Health of roster- Injuries- Bad officiating occurs-  Bad coaching decision making Yes is one- Penalties- DROPS- weather snafus the list of reasons/ excuses can go on

oy vey

so my point is all this rhetoric about McDermott this year will be the One we all hope for.

GLORY

I really hope he does it and gets the monkey off his back once and for all.

GO BILLS
