BTW the Beatles played at the Jets' stadium just a few months prior to that game. My sister saw both the Beatles and the Stones very close together back then. I just remember her and her friends running up and down the street practicing their screaming before the Beatles concert. She said you couldn’t hear a damn thing from the Beatles at the concert. Shocking! 😂 Her husband was at Woodstock, and they have some great stories to tell. 1 1 Quote

ChasBB Posted yesterday at 01:37 AM Posted yesterday at 01:37 AM Thanks for posting. Anyone else freeze the video on crowd shots looking for relatives or am I the only oddball that does this? My dad had season tickets throughout the 60s and I always try to see if I can spot him when the camera pans to the crowd - no luck yet. 1 2 Quote

When they showed the Bills FG, for a second I was like "hey, that's a modern style of kicking for back then", then I heard the announcer say Gogolak's name and realized why He was the Pioneer of soccer style football kicking Quote

I don’t think I was at that game, but what an enormous experience game day was for this young kid. It’s interesting, but the scenes from outside the stadium seem to strike a chord even more than the stuff inside the stadium. Walking up to those gates felt like the Roman Colosseum to me. On a trip back a few years ago a buddy took me by the still standing gates. Like so many things from your youth, it’s not quite what you remember, but it’s still special. I was at that game with my father and yes he wore a sport coat, tie and a fedora. 3 Quote

To put that in perspective now, Caleb Williams made about $580,000 per game as a rookie QB. That's worth about $4 million today. Not too shabby. Quote

Good observation. It was a different time. Other than on the golf course or in the hospital, I never once saw my FIL without a tie. He was more old school than my father. Ohh, and they learned how to make more money from us. There is certainly that. But that is a decision we make. . Edited 22 hours ago by Augie 2 Quote

No merch was available then. If you saw a regular guy wearing a pro football jersey, he was gifted it by a player. It was truly a different time. 1 Quote

I guess it was normal for the times, but I can never imagine going to a football game wearing a suit and tie. When I was kid 70's + 80's fans didn't wear much team merchandise either. Most showed up in t-shirts, sweatshirts depending on the time of year. Just regular clothes without the team colors or logo on them. Now many fans show up wearing jerseys of their favorite players Edited 11 hours ago by Gregg Quote
