This is where Donald will run into problems. He presented the prize with no sacrifice, which is his way. Now, the sacrifice is being rammed down everyone's throats with zero, zilch, NO guarantees that it will work. I love the idea of moving manufacturing back and having America produce things for America and Americans. I try to live my life that way. Most of America does not. What America really didn't expect to have to deal with was their 401k's taking a bath. Wait till they can't get their plastic crap at Wally World. Tough times in the name of Donald. Big brother knows best, so kneel down and take your medicine. That's a hilarious perspective in America. Anyhoooo...I could give a F because I don't buy tons of ***** and I live out in the woods. I don't have tons of retirement money wrapped up in the markets...whatever Most Americans when asked to commit to a sacrifice amounting to the slightest of an inconvenience would say "no thanks". And as of yet, there is no recession despite what many alarmists are claiming. A recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP. The PCE number out today shows inflation coming down so stagflation is also off the table for now. Edited 12 hours ago by All_Pro_Bills

So we're now to the point of whether it will be a minor dip/technical recession or whether the momentum will multiply.

Americans are not being asked to sacrifice for a better outcome down the line. We are being asked to participate in dt stupid ill conceived tariff scheme and the gop vengeance for tax cuts for the rich

The tariffs are going to be passed along to people at the register at Best buy, not to the Chinese. They aren't just going to stop manufacturing Lenovo laptops.

Do you really think they're just going to stop manufacturing and selling equipment? Go ahead and I'll try and order 10 laptops today. I promise you they'll be more expensive than they were 2 months ago, but you can still get them along with pretty much anything else.

Agree based upon covid times. Wearing a mask is a slight inconvenience and remember the defiant opposition by many to that. Sacrificing thousands of dollars each year for the Trump tax is an exponentially higher level of sacrifice that is being mandated.

Basically admitting that every reputable economist is right when it comes to tariffs.

And are you concerned generally about mandated expenses, or just the Trump tariff version? Because…I’m thinking a reduction on govt mandated tax would go along way to softening the blow. Income, sales, excise, etc…

It wasn't about wearing a mask being a slight inconvenience but just a fear that what makes America great is our individual freedom. I didn't agree with them but I understood where they were coming from. It's why I despise this tariff policy. Why the hell should we give one guy the power to make us pay more for products because he happens to like tariffs and therefore hurts private companies and can kill small businesses. It's antithetical to everything this country is supposed to stand for.
