It was a big mistake to cancel the completion of Keystone. It would have benefited both Canada and the US. But that was the democrats appeasing the environmental base rather than prioritizing the economy. So the Alberta based oil business reacted and lobbied for the now completed Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion to the coast near Vancouver. Much of that crude gets shipped down the coast to US refineries. China might be a market for Canadian crude but for now China is happy to receive discounted sanctioned Russian crude shipments and supply from the Saudis. At the moment the Permian is the only US Shale basin that has the ability to increase production. Others have experienced steep and rapid declines in production. As expected by geologists. In short order US production will rapidly decline. No big discoveries with the exception of the Arctic are likely. Offshore drilling is expensive. Drill baby drill is a fantasy. Shipping our NG production to Europe is stupid. The war situation is in part to inhibit the integration of Western Europe and Russia by eliminating a cheap sources of energy and expanded trade. An arrangement thst would cripple US influence over Europe. The smart thing for both the US and Canada would be to agree on a clear mutual beneficial relationship. That doesn't appear to be on the table. Personally, I hold two big Canadian oil companies in my investments. Canadian Natural Resources and Suncor. Both are solid long term well run energy plays with large reserves. The smart thing for Canada to do is not give our lunch money to the bully. Logic is not part of trump and the US in 2025. Treat your partners like enemies is the US strategy. Not trumps strategy, the US strategy. Your logic is good but not possible. Trumps and project 2025 has different goals, Greenland and 51st are at the top of the list.

Big Blitz Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Spot on The VAT tax in addition to EU tariffs on American goods makes buying American much more expensive. The tariffs level the playing field. 1 1

When an exfruend kicks you, you generally tell them ice things like GFYS. So Canada, ex life long friend, fought together, helped each other, sold energy at reduced rates, helped each other in conflicts, served the world together, 35% tariffs. Brazil, brics member, friend of Putin 10%. Screw trump and his pedophile friends. Just an FYI, you are acting like a baby.

Seems to me that if Putin said the things about Ukraine 4 years ago...oh, right, he did, everyone in the world would be concerned...America is about to be come a predator nation, not the defender of freedom. Congratulations!
The Frankish Reich Posted August 3 Author Posted August 3 Here's Trump's leading "tariff theorist" in January 2024: Just wondering how a tariff on Airbus will incentive Boeing to become more "competent."

They get to rest on their laurels since outsourcing non-goods things like airplane design won't be subject to the tariffs. If you feel Trump is bullying you then your only way to respond is to punch back, don't buy American products and put tariffs on our products that you need. I don't blame you for being displeased with Trump, he has not played nice with about anyone, but he is resetting the playing field to best suit the USA, just as Carney should be doing for you but it appears he sucks at it.

How is he trying to best suit the USA? By raising taxes? That's just stupid . Trumponomics, taxing his way to prosperity, not Trump is killing the economy

Nice comments except 51 is real. You have turned the US from the most admired to the 2nd most despised country. imho trump is serious. This has become a country issue not a trump issue. My family like many have not bought any Ameruca products since Feb, not food, cars, appliances, soap, toothpaste, crackers, lawn fertilizer, BBQ. Wine, booze,.After 17 years a Bills season ticket holder, not 1 visit to US. I do my part.I hope to see my American friends again one day, but if 51 happens like I think is the intention, they won't be friends.
