Niagara Bill Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Another ten percent from trumps henchmen. By next week China and Canada will have a trade deal. If Americans will not stand up to the henchmen, others are beginning to. Close your borders, 1929 is coming again. Putin will not talk to the orangeman, because he owns him....so let's blow up a couple of mini boats in the Gulf of America...look tough, but back down from giving Ukraine Tomahawk missiles, cause Vladdy said no. MAGA has been fooled Trump is only the orange face on the poster, behind is the real power...remember the warning by maga about the secret societies. Well, you got it now. 1
nedboy7 Posted October 26 Posted October 26 President Pedo having a meltdown over an add. That’s our mentally stable president! Hey if libs are upset it must be good! 1

Every single one is shocked at how stupid and gullible Americans are to worship a pedo.
Joe Ferguson forever Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Listening to SCOTUS hearing. Difficult to read the tea leaves but Barrett and Roberts seem very skeptical. This could be another huge win for the country. 1

Difficult to read the tea leaves but Barrett and Roberts seem very skeptical. This could be another huge win for the country. I'm listening too. Gorsuch just destroyed Trump's Solicitor General. I don't want to read too much into it, but there's a few ways of getting to 5 votes against Trump here. Gorsuch's hypothetical (which was my hypothetical, you thief!): what if the President declares a Climate Emergency and puts a 50% tariff on all imported ICE engines? Trump's Solicitor General conceded that that would be legal/constitutional. 2
The Frankish Reich Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago In the Federalist Papers, Madison was very clear that keeping the taxing and spending power solely with Congress - and not at all with the President - was essential to avoid what happens in the British monarchy. If the king/president can levy taxes (and a tariff is a tax), an immense power is effectively transferred from the legislature to the executive. And with that comes the spending power too, as the King/President uses that tariff revenue to reward those interests that align with him and his power. We've already seen Trump speculating about using tariff revenue to "compensate" farmers, etc. This is a critical constitutional issue. And even Republicans should understand that - see the example of the Climate Crisis and a huge tariff proposed by a climate activist president. 1 1
The Frankish Reich Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago I love that our "Wolfgang" finds the Federalist Papers laughable. What a great American.

ADDED: https://www.supremecourt.gov/oral_arguments/live.aspx I'm reading notes from today's session and questions from the justices as skepticism over the administration's assertions that the executive branch has the power to impose tariffs under the circumstances they claim exist. Those circumstances being some extreme threat or emergency that requires presidential action (my words). If I had to guess they're going to rule against the President here, 5-4, 6-3, something like that. I read elsewhere that if Trump loses the back-up plan is to invoke some action based on the Trade Act of 1974-Section 122. I don't know a thing about this Act. Edited 3 hours ago by All_Pro_Bills 1

Turley's take is skeptical of the Trump argument also.

This is so obviously unconstitution and making it constitutional basically means the constitution is just whatever Trump says it is Justice Gorsuch warned of “a one-way ratchet toward the gradual but continual accretion of power in the executive branch and away from the people’s elected representatives” in Congress. 56 minutes ago, B-Man said: Not everyone hearing what Frank and Joe are.
