No matter what Hillary did or said—she was a terrible candidate, and I don’t blame anyone for being offended by the “deplorables” comment—she has never come close to the level of vitriol, divisiveness, and disinformation that Trump practiced on nearly a daily basis.

the demographics of those offended and embraced by each are interesting.  It would be great to know the percentage in each group that actually pays federal income tax.

And how much of those tax dollars the avail themselves of through Medicaid and Medicare for frequently avoidable conditions traceable to gluttony, tobacco, and alcohol use.

trump regularly makes hateful and troubling remarks that offend 40+ million Americans and are fervently embraced by his supporters.  It's where we are now in American politics and MAGA had a big part in getting us there.

So, you brought up Clinton in an RFK Jr thread, directed it to me because I thought the headline about RFK Jr was deceptive, with the ultimate goal of  outing yourself  as a hatemonger because  MAGA made you do it?

Strong play for a Monday, Hawk.

On the other hand, generally, you made the point I've made for 7 years and counting.  You're ok with hatred and foolishness as long as the target is other than you, or you support the agenda of the person lobbing the shots.   That is a problem in politics today.

Interesting. I didn’t realize that there are now 40+ million Americans who work for either the fake news media or the permanent DC class because those were the two groups that Trump purposely and regularly called out.

Hogwash, top to bottom.  It's an ugly business and democrats generally, and Clinton the lesser specifically, launch exactly that sort of rhetoric on a  regular basis.  From deplorable and irredeemable to vast right wing conspiracies to 'go'n put y'all in chains' to claims of stolen/ illegitimate elections and Russian hookers and on and on, it's an ugly business across the board.

Hoax.  I’m not the one making excuses for the storming of the Capitol.  Or for the former president seeking the jailing of a political adversary without due process.  Or for stand back and stand by.  I have never heard a Democrat do such things.  And, even if a stray Democrat somewhere has said something similar to any of the aforementioned things, he or she was not in a position of leadership or power remotely commensurate to that of the former president.

So you can keep deluding yourself about the alleged analogy of the alleged wrongs.  And I’ll keep on pointing it out and, as circumstances warrant, mocking your position.   In the meantime, you’ll probably go to MAGA rallies and hang out with the usual bunch of losers who go to such things who never saw a sausage or a bottle of jack they didn’t like and aged into obesity, a variety of self-inflicted medical problems, and a false sense of victimhood.  The big wheel keeps on turning.

I've made no excuses for anyone storming the Capitol.  I've supported prosecuting wrongdoers since day one via the typical process--investigate, arrest, indict, and follow common sense guidelines as it relates to speedy trial(s), jail time, bail and the like.   My biggest problem with 1/6, beyond the malcontents assaulting police and wandering through the building, was that no one really seems all that interested in determining how the Capitol Police and Washington generally got rickrolled by a guy in a Toys-R-US Grizzly Bear suit and those with him.

Maybe in your haste to label deplorables as sanctioned by your leadership, you got to thinking everyone holds one point of view?

As for the actions of democrats, generally, the entire Trump presidency reflected one long action to unseat him, divide (and perhaps, destroy) the country in an attempt to regain power.  From bogus Russian conspiracies, to Clinton conspiring with foreign actors hostile to our system, to withholding critical information from the American people, to lies about the election of Trump being illegitimate and stolen, 51 intelligence gurus wrong 51 times, the only moral high ground you hold is in your head.

I'm all for going back to a time when the opposition didn't accuse the other of treason and theft of the election...but that wasn't 2016.  When the prom queen lost, you people lost your damn minds and your sense of balance.   Rest assured though, this is not the first time people in leadership positions convinced the emotionally malleable that actions they would speak out against in the third world make perfect sense to pursue the agenda.

Hoax.  I don’t want to pay for MAGA slobs.  Sometimes the truth—elusive as it may be for MAGA—is harsh.

As I said, you’re a miserable sort. You’ve built up half the country into a large basket of deplorable boogeymen just like your chief priestess told you to. I harbor no such hatred for the half of the country who were fooled into voting for Biden.

Biden became the president the day he was elected.  Seems straightforward enough to me, but some people perpetually need a boogeyman to rage at.  Hillary Clinton as a beacon of light and decency was pretty funny though, you gotta give him that.

I obviously agree. I regularly read and engage on here but am always left wondering what the heck these people really want or whether they even know any more. Trump didn’t care about ANY of the issues that keep them up at night. His big agenda items were lowering our taxes, ending our involvement in foreign wars, securing our borders, and bringing back middle class manufacturing jobs. It was only AFTER he was elected that he realized just how many powerful forces were aligned to purposely stop every single one of those agenda goals.

Better get your Time Machine functional so you can undo January 6 and Trump’s stop the steal lies.  And maybe, if you like Rudy, you could put the kibosh on his four seasons presser.

Hoax.  His big agenda is himself.  His tax cut principally benefitted the upper class.  Biden took the hit for Afghanistan.  Border security probably could have been done with a little leadership and compromise. And manufacturing is dying.  If he really wanted to help blue collar workers, reorienting manufacturing and retraining would have been far more effective that catalyzing inflation.

Classic! None of what you just think you said actually says anything.

Hoax.  I don’t want to pay for someone else’s sausage addiction.  They don’t like socialism, I don’t like gluttony, and I don’t see why we can’t work something out on this issue.  I’d even settle for low fat sausage and Nicorette.  Keep my taxes down.

More victimization.  He was a lousy leader who can’t muster support beyond his base.  If he really wanted to accomplish what you say he did, it’s hard to explain why with majorities on both houses he didn’t get it done.   Unless, of course, he’s either not altruistic or not competent.

It’s really early here in Hawaii….so I at least have an excuse. I have no idea what time zone is causing you to post this gibberish. Care to share? I hope your day gets better. 👍

I understand completely the visceral reaction to Trump (though odds were pretty high he was going to be re-elected before that bat bit that monkey in Wuhan).  There were countless angles to attack him as a candidate...his business dealing, multiple affairs, general reputation, status as a billionaire, the many outrageous things he said, refusal to release tax returns.

When those traditional political attacks didn't work, the dems went full on Joseph McCarthy.  Outrageous claims followed. Lies about stolen elections. Lies about illegitimate presidencies.  At the outset, I was partially convinced the dems MUST have had something overwhelmingly convincing to knock him out.  I could not believe rank and file dem voters would fall for the McCarthy scam yet again.  Yet, they did--hook, line and sinker.  When the Russia train ran out of steam, they were guided to obstruction, and off they went.

It's been interesting to be sure.
