the irony of this thought process, is the same people that are stomping their feet about white privilege being a systemic problem are the same who are stomping their feet saying they demand their entitled  and privileged existence.

I thank you gov for shining the light on this irony…

must be nice to refuse to get off your but for less than 30 grand a year

Just because you and I had to work for nothing growing up doesn’t mean that it was ever ok, and doesn’t mean people should be paying their dues like we did in 2021. It’s that kind of bitterness that hurts the country as a whole.

Poor people refusing to work unless they get paid more. Bonnie, who do they think they really are, CEOs?

Oh, and its a little early for this thread, @Big Blitz - considering the fact that Trump left Biden with the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/09/05/trump-obama-economy/

Yah the worst jobs due entirely to the pandemic DA !

No President republican or democrat could have made the economy better in the same circumstances but you as usual decide to use that as a excuse because of your political biased, hatred & BS that you love to spread to keep you trying to look good but we all know where you come from .

So above is a article that shows (in my independent political view) the good bad and the ugly of Obama & Trump which i'm sure you will cherry pick what you want us to see through your rose colored glasses as usual but we have learned what to expect from you by now & will take it with a grain of salt !

But the charts and the numbers don't lie unlike some here . So bash away bash away bash away billstime .

hard work growing up served as a great motivator for me to grow far beyond minimum wage by working hard.  Not bitter about it at all. Having worked in manufacturing I’ve seen first hand what happens when labor costs rise, you have to lay off a bunch of people and hand your business to another country. I’m positive none of those people though they were losing their jobs because they are underpaid. When you live in utopian world ignorant of reality, it all sounds great.

Why not make minimum wage $40 an hour right?

People these days  scoff at working hard and working your way up, especially those ignorant of basic economics… but I blame the education system for that. Economic illiteracy is even prolific in people with advanced college degrees.

All of the major retailers start at $15 here in NJ. I believe they had until the end of the year to do that and decided to do it sooner.

It isn’t a debate on whether is should or shouldn’t happen. It already happened. You’re fighting a battle that you already lost a year ago.

So you’re saying New Jersey has state minimum wage of $15/hr?

Yes. Goes into effect end of year. Many other states also. Maryland is probably only 1 year behind us. What is their timetable?

Weird as of may 21 NJ has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.

Along with California and New York. I guess that’s that success story right?

Sorry… don’t let data and basic economic literacy get in the way of a good narrative.

Maryland - 5 or 6 years maybe ?

Our production facility there was already forced to reduce labor by 50% replacing assembly workers with robotics in the past 5 years and also moved a bunch of lines to Foxconn in Shenzhen to stay competitive in our industry. The entire facility will probably be shuttered in the next couple years.

ah progress….

Nobody cares. You either pay a living wage or get out. No one is losing sleep over it except for billionaire CEOs.

If you cannot provide a living wage, the state of NJ does not want your unethical business operating here any longer. Go to Alabama and do that.

You’re desperately holding onto a dead ideology. Trickle down failed, and the country has moved on.

The slaves aren’t coming back to anything that pays less than $15.

And you won't be eating or shopping at the restaurant/retail stores because the service and quality will be dead and gone.  There is a reason I just go straight to Amazon and all its slave labor for almost everything these days outside of my groceries that have gone up 40% in price.

The mom and pop places thank you for your small business crushing and society damaging world view.

And then we can all enjoy our fast chain ***t holes together, where a Number 7 costs $10.  In context, a family of 5 that isn't ordering off the "value" menu is definitely spending over $40 to $50 to eat at MCDONALD'S.  Family of 5 lololol.  Fun side effect of all this is the population control folks have convinced a generation its too expensive to have more then 1 or 2 kids.  It's brilliant!

Businesses adjust to regulation crushing policy that hurts them and the customer.  I was at Chipotle last week.  Had to order 2 bowls and a burrito.  $35.  Rice was dry.  Actually out of white rice.  Half the staff as usual.  So a 30 minute "line."  It was actually 15 people that pre 2020 took 10 minutes.

One tiny scoop of chicken each bowl but they sure were kind with the corn.  But hey cool that 16 year old did work her tail off scooping it in.  Pay her $20 an hour.

The skill is unrivaled.

Strangely enough, it was Amazon that helped set the floor at $15.

You have it entirely backwards. The working poor has money to spend and small businesses are thriving here in NJ.

A living wage is different depending on your cost of living. There is no ubiquitous living wage! But i understand, these are the shallow talking point of  a utopian mind cult., not based in any fundamental understanding of reality.

Just make sure to remember how hypocritical it is to buy a Chinese made good because cots cheap. So un-socialist.

and those billionaire CEOs want higher minimum wages- it Makes it justification  to offshore write itself…

think democrats are saviors of the people?

Those billionaires funnel all that money to democrats because they want to pay more taxes snd can’t figure out how? No they want to break the ladder of social mobility to stay billionaires without competition…

wake up! You’re being bamboozled.

Poor and violent? like EVERY CITY in New Jersey?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/abc7ny.com/amp/9-50-most-miserable-cities-are-in-new-jersey-list/5595210/

a steaming pile of blue! With the exception of a few wealthy burbs propped up by adjacent cities in other states, one of the worst places to live in the country. Wow

Biringham is an interesting reference. 2.7% unemployment this past April. That’s a bad thing right?

Of course they did!

It's the same reason they support higher tax rates.

No small start up can compete with them because they can handle it.

Big corporations will survive minimum wage and tax increases.  They often support them.

Because their competitors or potential start ups can not.

You guys will stick to your failed trickle down theory until it puts you on the streets. That’s dedication right there.

Is it me or is it almost like these smart billionaires have figured out how to fool and take Advantage of naive subscribers to Utopianism, by making them think they are winning?

My bad I guess this isn’t new, it’s been happening for centuries

Your social welfare theory makes me want to consider living on the streets, instead of this drab working for a living thing.

can I just drop a government subsidized trailer in you backyard and live there rent free since you are such a giver and presumably wealthy land owner?

I promise to hold hands and sing cumbye-ah with you by the fire pit every night
