DEMOCRATS RELY ON MYTH TO DEFEND THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO COMPROMISE

 

Joe Biden and the Democrats plan to go it alone on stimulus legislation in response to the Wuhan coronavirus. Apparently, they will not compromise in order to pick up Republican support.

 

There’s nothing wrong with that. The Dems have a majority in the House and the functional equivalent of one in the Senate. They can do whatever they want on stimulus, thanks to the miracle of “budget reconciliation.”

 

What Biden can’t plausibly do is claim to be a unifier. That claim is patently inconsistent with his unwillingness to compromise with at least a few Republicans.

 

The Democrats’ excuse is that the Obama years prove it’s not possible to work with Republicans. But, as Ramesh Ponnuru shows, the Obama years prove no such thing. Biden and his fellow Dems are peddling a myth. Barack Obama was as uninterested in working with Republicans when the Democrats controlled Congress as Joe Biden is today.

High School Football Coach Fired For Privately Questioning Black Lives Matter Curricula

 

The coach expressed "significant philosophical differences" that led to his termination.

 

 

A former Massachusetts high school football coach is suing the Dedham Public School district after he was fired for privately disagreeing with the left-wing social justice curriculum being taught to his children......

 

According to a copy of the lawsuit, the daughter’s middle school instruction was conducted remotely because of the coronavirus pandemic. During her at-home instruction, Flynn and his wife realized that her world history class was forgetting to teach her something very important to the course — world history.

 

Instead, the instruction was based on issues of race, gender, stereotypes, discrimination, and politics, among other left-wing social issues.

 

One assignment asked 12- and 13-year-olds to identify “risk factors” and “mitigating factors” when walking down the street with a person of different skin color. White students were told to be fearful when they saw a black student with “aggressive body language” or in the “wrong neighborhood.” Black students were told to be fearful of white people in general, specifically police.

 

Flynn and his wife also noticed that the seventh-grade teacher had a cartoon character of herself with a Black Lives Matter T-shirt on.

 

The couple was concerned with the political nature of the instruction and contacted the teacher and the school principal to address their concerns. According to the lawsuit, Principal Fonest responded but did not “adequately” address their concerns....

 

.....The superintendent sent a letter to parents confirming that it was Flynn’s “significant philosophical differences” that rendered him unemployed.

 

“We are writing today and are sorry to inform you that Dave Flynn will not be reappointed as the Head Coach of Dedham High School football,” the letter read. “We met with Mr. Flynn today because he has expressed significant philosophical differences with the direction, goals, and values of the school district. Due to these differences, we felt it best to seek different leadership for the program at the time.”

OK, but I presume you then do trust the data from this very admirable Administration, and you realize that their actions and proclamations about no deportations etc has led to a dramatic increase in illegal immigrants and thus a much higher number of children coming into very unfortunate circumstances?  Again, not my data, and as reported by the NYTIMES, Jan saw a 50% increase in Unaccompanied Minors to 6,000, and then Feb saw another 50% increase to 9,000.  So, the math there, since these facts of nature seem to want to be quantified by our resident Social Scientists, is that the run-rate of 8,000 UMs jumped to 15,000 over the first two months of Pres Biden's Administration.  That is decidedly not a good outcome.  No doubt March will see a similar rise, so more human devastation.  

 

The response from the Biden Administration, as far as I can tell?  The most laughable public statement by a Gov't maybe in history, by Secty of Homeland Security:  "We're not saying Don't Come, we're saying Don't Come Now"   Absolutely hilarious these people, completely in over their heads in running anything, but again feted by the Liberal Left Media echo chamber "Oh, they say such nice things" as the misery piles up from more people risking the crossing.

 

I realize in the Liberal world that Lablels matter more than anything (outcomes, for instance) and so these children won't be Labeled anything so the media can pound away on this issue, but the actual facts are this new, admirable administration is overseeing a FAR GREATER separation of parents from children than the prior, whether they choose to separate on the Mexican side of the border, or they are separated on this side of the border.

 

Again I realize the labeling of these situations is more important to the Left, I would prefer that LESS people suffer these consequences, rather than MORE.  I know that doesn't conform to modern American ideals.
