In July 2009, riots broke out in Xinjiang in response to a violent dispute between Uyghur and Han Chinese workers in a factory that resulted in over one hundred deaths. Following the riots, Uyghur terrorists killed dozens of Han Chinese in coordinated attacks from 2009 to 2016. I` ve read lots of articles about it and even had an essay task on this point. I remember distinctly there were dozens of protestors outside the White House calling on Obama to do something about the whole Uighur situation in China (although I didn’t really know too much about it all at the time).
