Noose Found in Bubba Wallace's Garage: UPDATE - No Hate Crime, Per FBI

You could attach a rubber chicken to the garage and call it a garage pull.  Some might still call it a rubber chicken.  Especially when its the only time you've ever seen a rubber chicken used as a garage pull.

Well in that case the FBI better come check out the pull door for my attic.  The last owner must have been a white supremacist.

I have not once in this thread suggested there was any wrongdoing or hateful intent.  I can envision other reasons why someone on Bubba's team or Bubba himself might have different reactions to the noose used for everyday practical applications other than doubling down on "victim hood" as has been theorized up-thread.

I don't dispute that Bubba might have a different reaction to a noose-like knot being used in everyday application than I would.

But to go on Don Lemon's show in particular and spout off about how it's not a garage pull?  I understand it was a long conversation with a lot of parts but frankly I don't see a lot of options for motive there.

This entire situation went off perfectly, imo.

Watson and his team found something suspicious, and reported it.

NASCAR as a league, and all the crews involved, rallied around Watson to support him.

An investigation was launched, and it was determined there was no harmful intent.

Everyone goes on with their lives. Most likely closer and more unified than before.

edit: The FBI also determined that Watson's team had NO involvement with planting the noose/pull, so all the #BubbaSmollet jokes dont apply and only serve to make matters worse.

What's the problem?

He specifically responded to the question "Have you ever seen ropes like that hanging from garages...is that typical?".  So let me paraphrase "No, I have never seen a f@$#ing noose used as a garage pull in my life!".

He expands on the idea and counters the speculation that he and his team built a mountain of a mole hill by reacting to a common looped knot.  He also acknowledges it wasn't meant for him or his team.

What's so surprising? The white racial backdrop of this sport has been a part of its environment since its inception. It shouldn't be unexpected that the dead enders and resisters would express their ignorance to the positive changes happening in the sports. Some people are comfortable in moving into the modern world and others are reflexively grabbing their guns and heading to the ramparts because they believe they are under siege. I'm not shocked by the display of ignorance. Quite the contrary I'm surprised to the extent the officials and participants of the sport have embraced the change to a more inclusive sport.

The report I heard last night on SportsCenter from their NASCAR reporter is that it was a noose. The other pulls were not nooses.  The FBI said they would have found what they found suspicious and would have acted the same as NASCAR by investigating.

Just repeating what I heard. Should have gotten the reporter's name.

Exactly.

Nothing wrong with looking into something that is suspicious. Good on NASCAR for being supportive and protective of their drivers.

There were no over-reactionary firings of NASCAR executives. NASCAR didnt hand Bubba a win, or punish other teams. They just rightfully investigated. Not sure why some folks are worked up and wanting to "blame" Watson, or have some sort of reactionary punishment or revenge. This all went exactly how it should. We should all be happy.

Listen, both your screen names begin with "J" and that's as far as people want to read. Deal with it!

He better not even try to play the "I'm avatar blind!" card.

One thing NASCAR probably should have done a bit better was to be more careful in their public statement. There initial statements seem to suggest little doubt that something hinky was going on. A toned down reporting of an event, and an investigation, might have been more prudent. It also might have spared Wallace from the moronic trolling and all the Bubba Smolett nonsense.

Who are you quoting this time?  It isn't me.

I quoted a post in this thread that most certainly suggested there was a wrongdoing or a hateful intent, when you said it didn't exist in this thread.

Except I didn't say "it didn't exist in this thread".....
