Except, Bernie isn't an outsider -- Trump was/remains one.

If your definition of an outsider is having government experience then neither one is now.

If your definition of an outsider is being despised by media and party elites then they both are.

Certainly the former. Bernie, for better or worse, has been a lawmaker for 40+ years -- most of it in the Congress (House and Senate). He's so insider his blood-type is DC despite what he says on the stump about being an outsider. It rings false to the independents who bought it when Trump sold it to them.

I do agree with your overall assessment though, about the similarities. Underestimating Bernie's strength has been the DNC's undoing over the past 6 months. They still haven't learned anything from 2016.

Trump has been rubbing elbows with politicians since the 70's so they're both "selling" their outsider status.  The lobbying/consultant system that runs DC is still thriving under Trump as we continue to run record deficits.  My guess is it would pry continue under Bernie.

Truth is, if you would vote for Sanders or Warren to be POTUS , you aren’t even remotely moderate. But hey, In lefty-land perception is reality.  I guess its not considered much different than actually  being a guy , but “ considering oneself “ to be a girl. Edit: and hey, 38 really isn’t that young.

That's just your truth.

It's not The Truth.

I don't pretend to be enlightened.

But I'm also not an idiot.

I don't like that Bernie is winning right now...

but...

Bernie over Trump in 2020 any day of the week...

even if Bernie isn't my 1st choice.

I can't remember the last time a race was called while polls were still open. Not sure how I feel about that.

Not sure if it was the last time, but CBS called Florida for Gore before the panhandle was done voting.  Always wondered if that suppressed or goosed the votes for W.

Either way, the call was premature and incorrect.

Quick question.  Wouldn't this be considered a socialist policy?

Welcome to the battle likely to ensue til November.

Just remember... Trump has the backing of the massive monetary weight of the Republican Party behind him...

along with Russia... who has obviously been backing Trump... (can't wait for the moron who retorts by saying they're also backing Bernie and can't obviously piece that together)

That's why I fear Trump will be reelected and have for 3 plus years.

The American people don't want Trump in office because he's a terrible President.

But he might get reelected because of a 2nd election of ridiculous circumstances.

It's funny. People like @Deranged Rhino keep pointing to things like fundraising while completely glossing over the fact that as you folks are touting Trump's fundraising you're also neglecting the fact that Hillary raised 400 million more than him in 2016.

While I don't want Bernie as the nominee, I will vote for him. And Bernie very well would have won in 2016 if he were nominated, anyway.

Now, the kids are 4 years older and you have more able to vote.

Like it or not, the 18-22 year olds who became eligible to vote since Trump took office in 2016 and the 23-40 year olds (I'm not one of them) will not be complacent this time around assuming their candidate will win... they'll vote...

Counting on the 18-22 demo to turn out has never been a winning gamble, @transplantbillsfan .

It’ll just be easier for your psyche to come to grips with what’s happening. The DNC is in a civil war between the far left and its establishment rot. A party divided can’t / won’t win. They have to destroy themselves and rebuild first. Bernie’s nom will assure they lose the house and senate and accelerate that death struggle.

Bernie will draw, but not as well as Trump.

I went to Czechoslovakia and Poland back when they were communist. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, good about living under communist rule.

The dogs and machine guns patrolling the tracks and streets, the shortages of food, clothing, basic hygiene needs... simply horrible. Imagine a city like Krakow having one (old) car on the main road. A family of four, five assigned a “house” (apartment) with two rooms. If you had connections, you might also have a bathroom.

Anyone who feels there is anything redeeming about communism (or socialism) needs their head examined.

Bernie isn't communism.

As much as your insane right leaning media and tweets are about to tell you...

Bernie does NOT equal Hitler

Trump wins 35+ states if it’s Bernie v Trump. Maybe 38+.

Neither does Trump...

Bernie isn’t hitler — no one seriously argues that. But he absolutely is a communist.

Nope. Some things need to be done to stop the economy from going out of whack. Food prices would explode without farm subsidies, and what you cited is just another form of maintaining the good economy that we enjoy. One can point to all sorts of things being “ socialist “ such as my taxes paying for me neighbors kids to go to school. If everything were pay as you go, I’m guessing a lot of folks wouldn’t like it. Anyway, the Dems are talking about a huge move toward pure Socialism , which is definitely not a good thing.

I want you to read what you just wrote.

This sounds like you've been swept up in hard right propaganda.

That was kind of my point.  We already have a lot of socialist programs in place to provide a social safety net.  If by some miracle Bernie gets elected as president, our system of checks and balances will prevent him from his most ambitious socialist proposals (medicare for all, free college, student loan forgiveness).  I'd venture a Bloomberg presidency wouldn't look much different than a Sanders presidency.

Exactly.

This whole demonization of Bernie is ridiculous.

Don't want him.

But he will help more than 45 did.

Though Bernie might be the "benevolent" version of it, he IS communism. And whoever follows him won't be nearly as benevolent.

And nobody considers him to be Hitler.  His comparable would be Stalin (or maybe Trotsky).

18-26 year old minimum.

And truthfully, older than that, too.

The 30 year olds saw Obama elected in a year all the prognostications had Romney winning... remember the sheer and utter shock and disappointment???

And youth voter turnout was lower in 2012 than 2004 by percentage... but Obama won.

It wasn't a movement.

2008 was. That was when youth turnout was higher than it had been in 30+ years.

New movement.

Oust Trump

Romney was winning?  What credible poll predicted that?

He had momentum heading into the final week, but as soon as Sandy hit & he stopped campaigning for a couple of days, the result was set.

Gallup and Rasmussen had Romney up within the margin of error.  The final polls were really close across the board.  Obama was just able to get more people to show up compared to Hillary.

Sanders says his 'grassroots movement is unstoppable,' vows to defeat Trump after Nevada win

2020 presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., sent out a series of tweets to celebrate his projected victory in the Nevada caucuses Saturday and urged his supporters to keep the momentum going.

"We just won the Nevada caucus. This grassroots movement is unstoppable," he began. "Together, let's win the Democratic nomination, defeat Trump and transform the country! Join us live in San Antonio:"

The Vermont progressive made a prediction that his campaign would sweep the rest of the primaries and caucuses nationwide.

They didn’t. Polls closed at noon in Nevada. That’s 3:00 PM Eastern time. They didn’t get polling results for about an hour.
