Since when did slow-pitch softball bats...

$200-$300 for a softball bat?

Since when did a bat match the cost of a decent Home Theater Surround Sound receiver?

For all you big men hitting Freaks and Synergies - do you hit from the women's tees too? Afterall - artifically adding 30 feet to your swing is like moving the fence in closer - just for you.

Does anyone know of a decent bat for $100? You would think that should be able to buy you a good bat, but I'm not so sure anymore.

Its money well spent actually.  The Mikan bat is unreal!  You can hit bombs with that one.  Demarini makes some great bats too

and if you use one - consider yourself a pink panty wearing p****.

BTW - YOU aren't hitting bombs with those - the bat is. I guess in the age of Viagra any artifical means up pumping up one's manhood is "money well spent".

Go get 'em tiger. You da bomb.

Good god do I hate softball. Hate it with a passion. Most retard, no strategy game in the world.

And the day I spend two hundred dollars on a bat is a day I get a check on reality.

EDIT: I'm only talking about slow pitch. I have much respect for fast pitch.

I will hit them out with any bat. Like I said- do you bring a knife to a gunfight? BTW I am in two leagues. One league you are allowed 3 HR per team- the 4th is an out. The other league you are allowed 1 HR- the second is an out. We also play with limited flight balls. If the bats are legal, and every team has them, why the hell not play with them? Everyone on the team pitches in 15$- wtf?

Geez, I didn't know the only way you could comment in these rooms was to assist you in the search of your softball bat.

I thought this was the kinder, gentler wall. But, it seems even the creator can make statements that generate negativity.

one more comment- I usually use 30 oz Worth doublewall bat. Its blue and I am sure its under $100. Most of my team uses the Demarini so that bat goes dead quick. I am the only one who uses the Worth. I do love that Mikan bat too and use that sometimes

there is a reason leagues ban these bats... not everyone is meant to hit HRs.

If your leagues limit HR's then why use a $300 bat if you don't need 50 more feet of manhood?

I take it you've been to batreviews.com ...I couldn't believe it when I went to epinions and there was only one bat under $100...wow!

Have you considered the ebay route? I have no idea what the "used" market is like....

Seeds and ropes. I never, ever pop up. I line everything. Sometimes I get under and it goes out, others I get on top and the ball is planted. Usually I hit line drive gappers

the problem is that most any bat that is actually approved by the ASA is apparently not worthy of BEING reviewed!

All the reviews are from the banned list and maybe a couple 98 MPH ones for $200+...

I was trying to look for info on the:

DeMarini 2005 Ultimate Weapon Singlewall...

It's $99. Which still seems outrageous, but I don't want to dent a cheap one either.

My current 10 year old Louisville Slugger chatters my teeth with every swing. My hands hurt so bad after BP I need ibuprofen.

oh and BTW sometimes when you try and hit them out the extra 30 feet added by the bat makes it a tape measure shot and is aesthetically pleasing. Nothing like watching a ball you just hit go for a long ride!

You just don't get it Pete.

Why not just catch the ball with your hand - run to the outfield and toss it over the fence? Just as valid in my book. All you are saying is that you are not strong enough to hit it out yourself with a normal bat. You need help. You need technology to do what your biceps can't. Hardly something to brag about.

You just dont get it Scott. I hit them over the 330 fence with a Worth bat. Sometimes I use the Miken and they go farther-its show. There are both homers regardless- one just goes farther. You sound like a bitter pencil necked geek who cant hit it out of the infield.

Its been a couple of years, but I sure don't remember bats costing that much. I picked up 2 bats (Louisville Sluggers), a pair of cleats (Nike) and golf spikes (Lovejoy) for something like $250 from Sports Authority.

I guess I missed the bat-tech explosion and/or just got lucky. I'm not into softball enough to drop $100 on one freakin' bat - that price seems outrageous to me.

I can hit just fine, but I'm not made for HR's. No big deal. It doesn't make me any less of a man. I don't need to spend $300 to join a HR derby.

Those banned bats are ridiculous ego builders which you readily admit to, so I don't see why you are arguing with me. If you don't need a crutch then why use it?

I agree with you and if my hands didn't hurt so bad I wouldn't care to buy a new one. I just hate pinching a few dollars and wind up buying something that needs to be replaced because it got bent in one season.

I thought the reason that certain bats had been banned was that the ball comes off too hot and too often results in injuries, especially on come-backs at the pitcher.

I can appreciate Pete's point, but I guess I'm just kinda' surprised any league allows them. The local leagues around here I've played in (all city leagues) don't allow them because of risk of injury and liability. Maybe it's just the cities in this area?

that is exactly why they are banned. Our leagues don't allow them.

SDS, I still like the DeMarini Double Wall. It's around $100.00 (maybe a little more) but it's a very durable bat in warmer weather and gives you a lot of pop regardless of what core ball is used. Just like golf clubs, the technology gets better but I still go with what works. 0:)

I played in a slow pitch league for a couple years before I left Buffalo. Everytime one of those guys came up to bat with their $300 bat, batting gloves, offical MLB pants and sports goggles on, we would laugh our asses off.

These bats are banned in our league. As a pitcher...I am thankful for that....these bats make the ball go so far it not even funny......again, its SCARY being a pitcher even without these bats, but with them....mini-me hits home runs over the fence....

check with your league before paying that type of cash....they are banned at a lot of tournaments as well. Or let some other sucker on your team buy one and use that.
