No?

What are you talking about? Mexico played Trump!!!! They promised they'd do this already, dontchya know??? Trump got nuthin'!! Oh, and #OrangeManBad

How'd I do? ?

All I know is every article about Mexico, illegals, the Trump Administration's negotiations with Mexico, etc are off my newsfeed at the moment, so he musta done somethin' right. If it really had been a loss for President Trump my newsfeed would be filled with articles on how stupid he, and his administration, are and that they ***** up yet again.  And speaking of which... I cannot believe the amount of people who still think President Trump - a businessman who has lived to negotiate these past 50 years - it a dope. Simply baffling to me.

Then you should have no problem providing a list of the exact items that Mexico caved in to that weren't part of the prior agreements.

While you're looking for that, think of the longer term implications of the President boy who cried wolf and got AMLO to deploy 6,000 federales to his southern border.  Did he get the agriculture win that he crowed about?  Did AMLO agree to the real concession of categorizing Mexico as a "safe third country?"   What do you think will happen when he plays the tariff card next, especially after USMCTA is ratified?

What do you think realistically happened in the last week - Mexico fully caved to Trump's demands, or Trump's inner circle (family) sat him down and explained to him again that using tariffs as a bludgeon was a really bad idea because he wasn't going to get what he really wanted and he faced a GOP revolt?   If there were truly big gaps in the negotiating positions and the USA's only option was to threaten tariffs, then it's nearly impossible that gulf would be bridged in less that a week.   More likely is that the two sides agreed to a PR compromise that gave Trump a semblance of public victory, but didn't change matters much.

Why did Trump ignore the scathing editorials from WSJ in his tweet?

Why wouldn't he?

The more important question is: why would he have faced a GOP revolt, unless it TOO is a corrupt entity supporting business owners who wish to continue to break immigration law while supporting further amnesties that are NOT in the best interest of the American people?

There's a polar opposite to TDS, which is thinking that everything that Trump does is wonderful.

You have to stop and ask why are NYT and WSJ op-eds aligned on a topic?  Using tariffs as the bludgeoning tool in this spat will make that tool far less effective if that's the only thing that he can revert to.  The call for tariffs was not a carefully deliberated strategy.  It was the latest off the cuff tactic that countered his inner circle.  Businesses and countries will adapt to this tactic, and it will be a lot easier to call his bluff next time and will make the job much tougher for his trade team to negotiate the next trade deals.

Eh,  call me a cynic, but the WSJ isn't exactly on the opposite end of the spectrum from the NYT on most issues.

The WSJ editorial page?

1) I do not think everything President Trump does is "wonderful". I will say the the Democrats and MSM (BIRM) have done the impossible - turned a billionaire into an underdog to the average American, and if there is one thing the average American loves, it is to cheer for the underdog.

2) It is very difficult to argue with someone who does not think that President Trump plans, nor does his administration. It is so far from reality, that only the most - well, I don't want to insult anyone, so let's just say that people spouting the "seat of his pants" nonsense are disconnected from reality.  President Trump has always been a planner.  Ever put together a real estate deal? Those do not happen because someone decided that today they'd put together parcel A, B, C, and D and then deal with the red tape, environmental clean-ups, and regulatory bull####.  To say he stopped planning when he became president is ridiculous.

3) He has two cards to play: sanctions and tariffs.  Contact your local Congress Critter to vote for a wall and illegal alien reform (dump them back on their mother-country) if you would like to end the border crisis once and for all.

Which Donald Trump is that, the one who lost the majority of his real estate and casino empire and managed to get fired from a public company that bore his name?  That brilliant strategist?

This is the Donald Trump that everyone who's known him for 4 decades is afraid of.    The Donald has always played one card, the doomsday card.  Eventually, his counterparts call his bluff and always when he's resorted to that, he lost bigly.

What's the difference between 500 and 6000? Isn't there also a difference between acting on an agreement and not acting on an agreement? The dems have made every attempt possible to thwart Trump's pledge to secure the border. It's personal with them and they are putting their petty ***** desire to "get" Trump ahead of any duty to our country. Trump is doing whatever he can to fulfill his sworn duty. We had 144,000 illegal aliens sneak across our border in May and you want him to imitate Nero.

They didn't sneak anywhere, they are not illegal and they are not a threat. Educate yourself before you spew nonsense

I guess I could have worded that a little differently. Many of the illegal aliens brazenly crossed the border too.
