I am lamenting it, because the healthy family unit is the foundational building block of intergenerational success, wealth building, and raising well adjusted children. That individuals are selfishly rejecting it in favor of instant gratification hedonism doesn't degrade it's value or necessity, but rather reinforces it with volumes of data. How do you get the horse to the trough for those who believe in letting people do what ever they want to do even if it is bad for the person in question? The only thing that works: social Darwinism. Make the chains of poverty so unbearable to live under that it drives better decision making out of fear. Quit making financial incentives which drive single parent families. I don't disagree with you but do believe that only partially addresses the problem. Many solve the problem of unbearable poverty by turning to crime. I have a cousin that lives not very far from the new casino in the Finger Lakes and he has observed more obvious theft (things missing that he knows he did not misplace) in the year and change that the casino has been open than he has in the few decades prior to that casino. He has too many things to put it all in one building and keep under lock and key. For that matter locks, walls, and fences only keep the honest man honest. I hear plenty of stories of fences pulled down, cameras painted over, and panels of pole barns torn off so thieves can ply their trade. Back to the casino that is a cancer to many that hope to solve their money problems by winning money then when their meager paycheck is gone they turn to theft to recover the lost paycheck. Punishing criminals and pulling them out of civilized society and fierce protection of the Second Amendment is the other part of the solution. A society of laws necessitates a prison population for those who refuse to live under them, and demands that individuals be able to arm themselves to protect themselves, their families, and their property.
