WE have too many centers now to trade our second best player for a C prospect. Get a Top 4 D and some winger help.

I mean, you can never have enough centers... and it's much easier to move a C to the wing than vise versa.

Plus, Thomas is a top 10 prospect in all of hockey. So I wouldn't turn him down.

But it I was just going off all the rumors. I agree, Thomas wouldn't be my #1 target from St. Louis.

Parayko would be, for sure. He fills a real need - top 4 right hand D. Heck, he'd most likely be our #1 RD.

Id try to expand the deal and include something else from Buffalo to get either Kyrou or Kostin (Kostin is more likely, as he's a notch lower than Kyrou IMO. I can't see St. Louis including both Parayko and Kyrou. Plus Kostin is a left wing, a much bigger need than RW (Kyrou)).

I cant really see St. Louis including Parayko either, though. And it doesn't really match the "picks and a top prospect" ask we keep hearing from everyone (LeBrun, McKenzie, Dreger).

If it's not Parayko or Thomas, It had damn well better be at least Kyrou + + if we trade ROR to the Blues. Kostin or Thompson aren't enough as a centerpiece to a ROR deal IMO. And I'm not sure Dunn makes a lot of sense, since we are loaded with Left handed defenseman right now (Dahlin, Scandella, Guhle, Pilut, McCabe, Beaulieu, Hunwick, and Hickey if he signs).

Not sure Kyrou makes a ton of sense as the centerpiece either. We have quite a few right wing prospects, some of which are no longer eligible for waiver exemption (Baptiste, Bailey). But I don't know what else there is from St. Louis if it's not Thomas, Parayko or Dunn.

I am starting to feel like I am most likely going to be disappointed in what ROR returns (assuming he's traded, which feels very likely right now (IMO anyway)).

I am saying right now that Nylander will not be included in a ROR trade. He has been somewhat of a disappointment but he is so young that it would be foolish to let a player go who has so much skill. Why be so eager to shed a young talent who is not even 20 yrs old yet? Players develop at different rates. Even if he starts the season in Rochester it is too soon to make a conclusive judgment on him. I don't know if he will turn out to be a good NHL player. But I want to give him the time for him to demonstrate whether that he can or can not play with the big club. Trust me, being patient won't hurt you. You may be pleasantly surprised with the eventual outcome.

Cause to get, ya gotta give. Way to much smoke here for no fire.

Of course I want him to develop, doesn’t mean I won’t include him in a deal to get better. He needs time to develop, So too will the asset coming back. Might be just me, but I trust GMJB judgement over GMTM at the moment.

Here is the bet.. if Nylander not part of the deal I will drink two Genny’s at the home opener.

What you wanna bet?

That isn't smoke you are seeing. You are witnessing a forest engulfed in a raging fire. One way or the other it is apparent that Boterill is determined to move ROR. And from a variety of sources  there are a multiple teams interested in acquiring the center who doesn't have a full complement of teeth.

I'm very confident that Nylander will not be included in a deal. If he is I will dramatically outpace you by drinking a six pack of Molson's before the first half of the first game is completed. If I end up slurring my words you should know why.  ?

That was a good read.

Wish Kane all the best in San Jose.

They em could be a scary good team if they get Tavares (figures, since we have their 1st next year... lol. Better than JT in Toronto, though!)

I keep checking NHL.com for any clues of what is going to happen. If Friday is cleared without Taveras signing with the Isle's our chances increase greatly. Listening to Toronto hockey people on Sirius they think they have the inside track because, you know, Toronto is so awesome and the center of the hockey universe.

But if a player wants a bit of anonymity, in other words not live inside a fishbowl, San Jose is a nice option. Shark players are pretty popular but not movie star status like TO.

Side note I am pretty stoked about the Sabres getting Dahlin. We are flying in for the Titans/Bills game the Thursday before but a bit to late for the Sabres home opener. I did get tix for game #2 against the Rangers the following Saturday.

Yep.....I thought Swedes tended toward a dose of snowflake socialism...;-)

The kid can play....and he sounds willing to call out those who don't play hard.  I know it was not his best moment...but when I saw him angrily throw his silver medal in stands at the World Juniors this year...I fell madly in like with him.

I read (can't remember who said it, but I know it was a pretty credible media source) that if he leaves the Isles, it's Sharks #1 and Toronto #2.

Ive always read/heard that JT isn't a guy who likes tons of attention or spotlight. That he's more of a private guy.

That's one of the reasons why I mentioned San Jose as a team I could see him going to long before any of this started. They just made tons of sense for Tavares. I wasn't at all surprised to see their name on his short list of teams to get mettings.

I still think they make the most sense if he leaves The NYI.
