That's the only logical reason to retain the group, but it seems very unlikely that two opposing offensive philosophies would hold the same staff in place. Are position coaches locked into only being able to coach a certain type of offence to those players? I'm sure most position coaches can adapt enough that they don't have to be tossed away. Most get let go because the HC was fired and the new HC wants his own staff in place. You are also assuming that the OC and DC are in charge of the position coaches instead of the HC.
