Matt Milano starting LB from here on out?

This is a good problem to have either way you look at it. Depth at linebacker is what we thought we were missing before the season started.

Frazier must feel like a little kid playing with G.I. Joes. So many different ways to go about it.

Me personally, I would love to see Zo call the defensive plays while Preston Brown gets a breather for a couple plays. Many times i look at Brown and he just looks gassed. Zo, Humber and Milano on the field at the same time while Preston catches his breath. Then Zo can also substitute for one of our defensive ends also when one of them are tired.

I watched the condensed game and just concentrated on Milano every play. He was decent to pretty good. Didn't stand out at all. Did fairly well in coverage usually. Didn't get off blocks all that well. We love the TD but it did just bounce right in his hands so that was a luck play more than skill. The strip on the KO was great. Easily his best play. He wasn't great in any way but he was decent to pretty good.

Funny how well coached teams with players that are always in the right positions seem to be much "luckier" than other teams...

The bounce straight up in the air was lucky it went right to him. The Bills as a team run to the ball and look for plays like that. I dont think the recovery was lucky per se. The great hit by Johnson caused it. But the ball could have gone anywhere. You dont practice it popping up and going to a specific spot. Good teams do seem to make their own luck though. Dont know how it works but its true.

I disagree with letting Zo call plays. While yes he is a veteran, he hasn't been a starter or even played that much on defense in his career. More of a special teams guy. That's not someone I'd feel extremely confident in calling even a few plays on the field. He's a solid veteran but calling plays is a bit over the top in my opinion.

Humber back with the 1s at practice today....I am sure Milano will still get PT, and the way this coaching staff makes in game/on the fly adjustments...you can be sure they will yank Humber if they think they would be getting better production out of Milano

Great point! Our in-game adjustments have been great this year.

Agreed that the ball could have gone anywhere but there were several Bills around that play and no Raiders so wherever that ball went, a Bill was going to fall on it. I think it goes to good coaching and good player discipline.

Agreed. That they practice everyday. McD has been great about that.

As well as Humber played this year I still do not see how you take Milano off the field. He is making plays and can cover.

Agreed, it would be a terrible move for McD to do this especially if it's for the sake of 'keeping his word'.

Nothing against Humber, he's a great guy to have but Milano's upside is ridiculous compared to Humber being a finished product at this stage of his career.

oh yea totally! Its impossible for players to get better once they are over the age of 25, thats science and you cant argue with science!!

get out of here with your weak, middle school takes

Milano has outplayed Humber (who wasn't terrible).

And even if they were equal on the field you go with the rookie over the 30 year old veteran.

He hasn't though. By a long shot. Humber was very solid. Milano has made a couple singular great plays. He has a good future. Humber was playing the position better all around though.

Well that is a different point than what you said, still wrong, but a different point. You insinuated Milano should play because he is a rookie who can get better, while Humber cannot possibly get better ("reached his ceiling") because hes a vet...that is utterly ridiculous.

Humber was playing extremely well early on before the injury. Milano has made a couple really big plays, and has also looked like a rookie at times. I bet you will see them both, and often, throughout games as long as both are healthy and still producing.

Why does everything have to be either/or with people??? Most of the world is grey, not white/black.

Zo is a smart guy and based on the interviews he's given as a Bill, sounds like a man that knows the playbook inside out and the way he expresses himself is clear and uncut...

I wonder (based on the interviews I've seen of Brown) when there's confusion on defense, is it because Brown is like, Uhhhhh Low 32 uhhhhhh rodeo uhhhhh flat uhhhh Blitz ...

Just kidding with the Brown thing but there's no reason why Zo couldn't handle it for a down as a substitute to give Brown a breather...

Like McD himself said, it's a great problem to have.

I'm not bashing Humber by any means, he's a great field good story for the team similar to Zo Alexander (who is still graded out as a top pass rusher by PFF despite not having the gaudy sack numbers).

But Milano made two game changing plays against the Raiders and is playing with some serious momentum right now and deserves playing time regardless. Perhaps the best solution is to keep him in on passing downs.
