Hey all you OLine specialists and GMs

Gandy is depth. He's a prospect. He came cheap. Donahoe has long followed the principle that you don't pay big, big money for guards. You develop them. I think we'll draft the best C or G at pick 55, and this guy will be competing with Ross Tucker and JSmith.

Don't panic for fugg's sake.

I'm feelin dandy with the signing of Gandy.  He could turn out to be quite handy

No panic here. However, we have been out of the playoffs for 4 years running now so pardon me if I am not impressed with Donahoe's theory of what you pay for a guard. That "theory" gave us Mike Pucillo which, as I recall resulted in lots of 2nd and 19's. Just once it would be nice to get through a pre-season happy with the offensive line we have. That unit has stunk for waaaaaaayyyyyyy too long now.

If it was EASY to build an OL, no one would be giving up sacks.

It's not easy, ask the Eagles.

I see this guy as a versitile replacement candidate for the roster spot previously held by Marcus Price. Can play Guard and Tackle. Nothing more. If he turns out, great. If not, who cares ?

The Bills will still sign more OL but some posters refuse to pass up ANY opportunity to critisize and b!tch.

Is he going to play guard or tackle?

From what I've read I'm just guessing he'll be depth for both positions ala a ross tucker type player who can step in and start if need be. Unless The Bills feel that he could make a quality starter, but my best guess would be backup guard/tackle

What's your take on the Villareal signing then? He was much cheaper than Woody, and immediately improved MW's game.

Not quite fair to put all blame on TD for Pucillo. It wasn't he who started the guy ahead of Tucker. Plus, Tucker was added to the roster in '03 and I have a hard time believing that Pucillo outperformed him in practice.

Gandy is more of a Tucker/Villareal signing than late drafting of Pucillo.

Especially when you can't seem to draft them.

If you haven't yet, you should check out some info posted by VaBills about our new guard in the main Gandy thread... there's pretty good reason to believe that this guy has talent and has been and will be a solid starter. Dude was drafted in the third round and is young.
