Can anyone come up with an argument for keeping Russ?

He could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman IN white gloves.

He sells snow to Eskimos when season tickets sell out every year. No way I would pay to sit in the cold tomorrow. We are out of it before it gets cold so I don't fall for such tactics

russ gets a lot of flack on this site, but you have to admit he will leave no stone unturned to to upgrade our personnel. i found this pic of him (on the google images) trying out a prospective player who is clearly too old for the league. i don't know if grandpa ever made the team or not, but i admire russ for at least thinking outside the box. that old man could have been our kurt warner! (special shout-out to the elderly player for wearing a tie and suit pants to the try-out -- really shows an element of class and professionalism).

I guess I just want to see if anyone can convince me he deserves his job

The only debate you'll get is what his job is.

If it's all business ops he's a genius. If it's football ops he's suspect.

None of us know how pegula draws the line in the conversation or weights his opinions on various topics

How so?

Detroit has the Pistons, who recently won a title, and the Red Wings are iconic.

San Diego would just have the Padres, who are hapless but still only one franchise.

Buffalo has TWO franchises owned by one family that has backed two failed front offices and refuses to rectify their lapses in judgment.

I'll reverse the question, what has he done wrong since Pegula bought the team. He's President of the Sabres too, I never seem to hear any bitching about that.

I am boycotting the Sabres until Murray is fired and I B word constantly because he has led us into the black hole of hockey. Maybe he is a curse!

Can't agree because neither Tim Murray nor Whaley have been on their jobs as GMs that long.

OK, what does that have to do with Russ?

The Pegulas have kept him on through all of this failure, gives Murray an extension despite ANY assemblance of a winner, refuses to fire Doug Whaley, and won't install Lynn as Interim HC and get Cardale in there at least ACTIVE. THAT.
