US government poised to approve first private mission to the Moon

Private spaceflight company Moon Express will soon announce it has been granted regulatory approval by the US government to send a lunar lander to the surface of the Moon, according to a source familiar with the matter. If so, that means the company will be the first private company to have received permission from the government to send a vehicle beyond Earth orbit and on to another world.

That would probably more accurately reflect Greg's thoughts on the matter  or is the moon just a big projection from somewhere near the middle of our flat earth?

Just for the record, I fully believe the moon landings happened and that the moon is a real celestial object...

... why haven't we been back to the moon in over 40 years? Now that's where I have theories. Sadly most of them are about the boring realities of congressional budgets after the cold war threat had passed -- but I can get wild and throw a few ET warnings in there from time to time. :pirate:

Space treaties.

...It's the truth, but also a cool thing to type.

FAA regulations, actually. Above a certain size rocket, you need clearance.

Meaning, of course, that below a certain size you can launch whatever the hell you want... :D
