Anyone ever watch this thing? Pretty weird to jam these dudes in spandex and have them run around for an hour.

I can only imagine the interview questions...

I watch when I can, especially the workouts. But it's boring until they get to the players you really want to see for whatever reason (ex. if they bulked up since end of the CFB season and you want to see if they lost any speed). I like the QB stuff , 40 and pass catching drills for WR, 40 for RBs, all LB drills.

As far as interview questions, I guess it gets pretty deep. We have a former NFL RB who does a radio show here and yesterday he said that in his combine interviews, he was asked for details about how one of his brothers died when we was young. He said this was not something that he thought was public. It happened well before anyone knew who he was, and he had never talked about it to anyone until they brought it up that day. He said it shook him up. He then said he was asked about which current NFL RBs he'd compare himself to. He mentioned a couple including Steven Jackson. He said the team then proceeded to tear him a new one, telling him how he's nowhere near as good as those guys. He thought he bombed the interviews. He was drafted in the 1st rd.

Check out some of the questions a combine participant has to answer

Its like when farmers buy horses. You run them for awhile, check their hooves, de-lous them, grab their balls, make sure they can see straight.

Really good read on talent identification and combine

http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/60578/351/2016-nfl-combine-preview

Now, more than ever, I think Combine results matter. In fact, I know they do. Teams (i.e. the Seahawks) use athletic testing in a variety of ways, and many times with success. Now, there are definitely examples of workout warriors being selected early and failing, but that can be said for any style of evaluation.

Annual reminder: What a GM or head coach says in Indy does not matter. Jeff Fisher called Sam Bradford his QB last year here.
